Birthday Cards continued

Recently I shared several birthday cards created to find the perfect one for the younger daughter’s birthday. Now, I will share two cards in the quest for the older daughter’s birthday.

Cake slice Birthday

I created the one above in blues as that has been a favorite color of hers for several years. However, it didn’t really make me happy as the best choice.

I tried a card in several colors that I posted https://stampbuddies.blog/2020/08/19/cupcake-celebration/ and it is a nice birthday card, but once again, was not a good fit for this daughter.

Celebrate!

This card was the winner! She is currently loving purple. This card is a bit more sophisticated, I think, with the purple flowers cascading over the cake. I borrowed the embossing folder from DD2 for this card, as it was perfect. Funny, how my husband thinks I own everything and sometimes I do not own the item I really need to kick a card up a notch. The flowers have a lot of sparkle from the Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle pen and the glitter pen. She liked her card. She just turned 26 and I think it is a perfect card for a young lady.

Many Birthday cards

I have been busy the last several days off and on, making birthday cards. These cards were created in trying to find the perfect card for my pink, sparkle loving daughter. Her birthday was on Monday and she turned 21.

Sunray Birthday

While this card is festive and pink, it didn’t scream my daughter. I used Echo Park patterned paper and Massive Messages by Gina K Designs.

Tropical Birthday with Bird

This card was created with The Stamps of Life product. I watercolored each of the images on Bristol paper using a water brush and Tombow markers. I love this bird, flowers, and layout, but it didn’t scream the daughter I was trying to create the card for. Someone else will love this card.

Birthday Cupcake with Banner

This is the winner for this daughter’s birthday. She loves pink and a lot of sparkle. The cupcake is a die from Sizzix designed by Stephanie Bernard. I had paper with double sided adhesive on the back so it made it easy for adding the layers. This is a mixture of two sets, Bloom by Bloom and Hip Hip Hooray both Stampin Up. I used the Bow Easy tool for the bow. She loved her card.

Cupcake Celebration

Using the colors from the CAS Challenge and a new to me set called Hello Cupcake, I created this fun celebration card.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2020/08/challenge-384-colours.html

I used a neutral for the cupcake wrapper, Soft Suede. The yellow is Lawn Fawn Lemonade and the other colors are Stampin Up Pool Party and Highland Heather. I added clear sparkle to the cupcake icing and a glitter pen to the sprinkles. I am sure this will be sent for a birthday.

Celebrate

This card combines several challenges.

I followed MFT Sketch 501 for the layout. I chose the owl from SU Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp set. He needed balloons to celebrate, so the balloons and sentiment came from Paper Smooches Hallooballoo set with the hat coming from Noggin Toppers, also from Paper Smooches. The patterned paper is from Gina K Designs Birthday Hoot pack. I used MFT white paper for the cardbase and layer.

I had fun with the sketch and combining many stamps to make a fun celebratory image.

This will also be posted on Split Coast Stampers in the MISTI Monday challenge.

Merry Christmas Mice

The following Christmas card will be entered in the Dies R Us Challenge.

http://diesruschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/07/dru-challenge-149-christmas-in-july.html

These merry mice are from Stampin Up heading to a Christmas tree. The tree is a Gina K Designs stamp. The colors used are SU Highland Heather, Mint Macaron, and Gorgeous Grape. The mice are colored in Crumb Cake. I used a Stitched Rectangle dies from The Stamps of Life to add a bit more to the simple design.

This is the sixth card created in Color Challenge 800 at Split Coast Stampers. Here is the post of the card: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2995909?&cat=500&ppuser=301308

Thanks for looking.

Merry Christmas Rose

Still playing along with Virtual Stamp Night, using more Paper Smooches stamps.

https://papersmooches.blogspot.com/2020/06/june-15-28-anything-goes-challenge.html

I decided to pull out a rose stamp from Paper Smooches. I decided to create a Christmas card with this beautiful rose, so I added a Christmas greeting. All of the paper is from Stampin Up. I watercolored the rose using markers and a water brush. I spritzed the card with gold when completed.

I have been enjoying stamping with Paper Smooches stamps recently. I forgot how versatile they are. More Virtual Stamp challenges to go. I have no idea how many I will accomplish, but have enjoyed the ones I have participated in.

Sailboat

The following card is created using the CAS Colors of So Saffron, Night of Navy and Real Red. I made this last weekend, got busy, didn’t get a photo taken till today, so I will try to remember what colors I substituted.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2020/06/challenge-375-colors.html

The yellow ink is Lawn Fawn Sunflower and the red is Gina K Designs Red Velvet. The blue is Lawn Fawn Deep Sea. I stamped the blue off several times to get lighter shades. I used stamps from three companies in completing the front of this card: MayMay Made It — Beacon for most of the images, Snowbuddies for the globe, Stampin Up High Tide for the water, and The Stamps of Life sailboat2stamp for the sentiment. The inside has a Hero Arts stamp for Father’s Day. I added an action wobbler to the front making the sailboat sail on the water.

Tropical Hello

I pulled out the tropical stamps, dies, and embossing folder and created the following card for the Mod Squad Challenge.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/watercolor-stamping/

I used the following: GKD Tropical Blooms, Made with Love, Wreath Builder Template, a Sizzix Leaves EF, and the Hello from a SU Paper Pumpkin kit. The colors I stamped with are SU Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow. These colors are from this week’s color challenge on Split Coast Stampers. The pearls are SU, but I have no idea what color exactly, but they matched. I spritzed the color after marking on each flower or leaf with perfect pearls water; I had mixed it quite a while ago and it brings a lovely shine to the watercolor.

It has been a while since I have participated in a Mod Squad Challenge. It was fun to try something new as I do not remember coloring on clear stamps, or it has been a long time.

Virtual Stamp Night Mini

I have been busy creating for the Split Coast Stampers Virtual Stamp Night mini challenges. A couple of times a year, SCS has a Virtual Stamp Night where challenges have a theme with challenges given every hour for a couple of days. Then the deadline is a couple of weeks away, so the person participating does not have to rush. Each card should be completed in one hour, however, this does not include prep time. Following are the cards created for this season’s mini challenge of Summer Playlist.

Two Blues

This challenge is called Summertime Blues. I chose a set called Love What you Do using the colors of Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel. This was a fast card to complete taking around 15 minutes. I had paper already cut and simply pulled two blue inks pads out with the stamp set.

Rainbow Wreath

This challenge was called Always Be a Rainbow. I saw a Gina K Designs Live recently and she was making a wreath card using the Sentimental Bouquet set and I liked it, so I pulled it out and created a wreath in her style. This was a quick card with the pieces being cut, using the wreath builder template and my MISTI. It took around 20 minutes.

Strawberry Fruit

This challenge was called Tutti Frutti. I found a card layout that I loved, from Darlene DeVries at Live Love Cards. I followed her idea of using the SU Buffalo Check stamp set for part of the background; it does resemble a picnic tablecloth. The I used strawberries from strawberries2stamp, a set from The Stamps of Life. I used my dies to cut the strawberries, but decided to remove the white outer portion using my scissors. This was a fast card around 30 minutes.

Get well

This is the last card for the mini challenge, Don’t Stand so Close to Me. It was a sketch challenge placing an item in each corner. I was creating this card for the current Paper Smooches challenge also; I went ahead and linked it from SCS. The Paper Smooches challenge is to use flowers. I had a piece of floral paper sitting on my desk, so I decided to paper piece and fussy cut. This card took the longest around the entire hour. I stamped the images, fussy cut them, then walked away. I came back and finished the card. The hearts came from a Lawn Fawn die. The stamp sets used are Healthy Vibes and Flap Happy with the steam coming from Flap Happy.

This took a few days to complete, but they were fun. I am not sure if the exact dates for the larger challenge, but will probably participate. There are prizes for participating. I made a few last year and won a gift certificate to spend at a stencil store. Thanks for reading this long post! Enjoy your day.
