Panda Birthday card

It is challenge time at Splitcoast Stampers for those that are Fan Club Members. This means you pay a small fee so you can post anytime with no moderation and it allows the site to remain operational. I am a Fan Club Member and am participating in a few challenges.

Panda Birthday
Panda Birthday Pop-up

I am proud of this card and spent a lot of today creating it, so I thought I would share. The front is fairly straight forward in how it is made. The inside pop-up feature is the part that took a lot of work. I used a Sizzix die that I have owned for a few years, but can’t remember using it. I know I have cut it out before, but mounting it on the card was a learning process. I realized the panda needed something else with it as there were two other places to pop-up something. I chose balloons and found they needed stability. I used acetate to hold those balloons up, then placed a small piece of white cardstock over the acetate to hide the adhesive (glue dots) and give plenty of stability. Now I have to send this to a special person. I have young nieces and birthdays are approaching, so it will go to one of them.

Sympathy

Everybody needs a sympathy card on hand and they can be difficult to create when needed. I made one for the Mod Squad Challenge to keep on hand.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/with-sympathy/

I found this idea on Pinterest. I added more water than the one I found and use different inks and a different sentiment, but the rest is the same. The stamp sets used are High Tide by Stampin Up and sign4words by The Stamps of Life. I used Lawn Fawn inks for the water, birds and greeting, and Memento ink for the sky. The gems are from Hobby Lobby.

Sparkling Christmas Wreath

I created a card to honor Rita at Split Coast Stampers as she is the Featured Stamper. I settled on a Christmas Wreath card to provide inspiration. I am posting this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where embossing must be used. I used heat embossing on this card.

I used the Stampin Up Arrange a Wreath die and a Spellbinders kit called Sparkling Christmas. In the kit are patterned papers, stamps, dies, foam adhesive, and double sided adhesive. I used the patterned paper and a matching piece of cardstock from the kit for the greeting. The solid green came from SU Subtle cardstock. Here is Rita’s card where I took the inspiration: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/3017509?&cat=500&ppuser=70873

Hummingbird in Flight

Today is the day I post my card for the Crafters’ of Faith group at Split coast Stampers. This month’s verse is: Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Challenge–please make a card that highlights anything with wings–you decide what you want to showcase.

Birthday Hummingbird Panel
Birthday Hummingbird

I made two cards very similar. I have a good friend who is having a birthday in a week or so and her favorite color is purple. I used the hummingbirds for my something with wings.

Stamp sets used are A Touch of Ink for everything except the greeting. The greeting is from Four Season’s Floral. Both sets are Stampin’ Up. I colored each element with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Just Because

While the cardstock was out for the CAS Colors & Sketches Challenge #426, I made another card. This will be entered in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Wednesday challenge.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2021/06/challenge-426-double-challenge.html https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-85/

I used the Floral Essence set and matching punch from Stampin Up. I also used the Tiny Textures set from Gina K Designs for texture on the flag and behind the flowers, but also for the greeting. I used all colors from the challenge and added gray as my neutral. This is an odd size card. I cut the stitched rectangles first and then the flag. It was all too large to fit on an A2 card so I made a 5 X 7 size card, but that was too much white space below the flag, so I trimmed it down. The finished card size is 5 X 6 or close to it. I will fit in a 5 X 7 envelope for mailing.

I enjoyed creating with these colors and sketch.

Owl Birthday

I began pulling out cardstock and ink colors to match for the CAS Colors & Sketch Challenge #426. I also found the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Anything Goes, so the following card will be entered in both places.

I followed the sketch using the colors Tangerine Tango, Pink Pirouette, and Peach Parfait. All of the cardstock colors were found in the containers inherited by my Mother, but she did not own the inks or markers for each of these colors. I did my best to match the inks and usable markers in other brands.

I used Gina K Designs Birthday Hoot set. I paper pieced the balloons with matching cardstock and colored the birthday hat and owl with markers. I struggle with leaving cardstock plain, so I added texture with embossing folders. I used Lifestyle Crafts Birthday set for the background and flag as it is a 2 folder set. I used the SU Subtle folder for the Tangerine Tango layer behind the owl. If course, the owl had to have googly eyes.

This is a fun card. I send quite a few birthday cards and have no idea who will receive this card.

June Challenge Your Stash

Today is the day to post cards for the Challenge Your Stash group at Split Coast Stampers. This month the challenge is to Make a project with a Tiger – or a wild cat of any sort: lion, puma, panther, cheetah–just not a domestic pet.

Birthday Lion

First of all, we are having stormy weather and sunshine is not in the forecast for several days. With that in mind, I did my best to get light with a daylight bulb and a few pieces of cardboard around the light. This card looks much better than the photograph will show, but you can see the blue and green.

I stenciled the clouds with a gifted stencil from a stamp buddy, using Lawn Fawn ink in a light blue color. I blended green ink on the ground then added grass with a darker green ink. The grass is from a Stampin Up set called Sending Sunshine; it is retiring on Wednesday so if you like it, get it now. The sun is from a Gina K Designs set called Own Kind of Beautiful; it is long ago retired. The regal lion comes from The Stamps of Life, lions2stamp with matching dies. I stamped the lion with Lawn Fawn and Gina K Designs ink in Kraft, Sandy Beach, Sunshine, and dark brown colors, then came back with Prismacolor pencils to add texture and the orange mane. I have never penciled on top of ink before, but it worked beautifully for the needed color. I chose a greeting from The Stamps of Life set and called the card finished.

Thanks for spending time with me and this lion.

Relax under the Umbrella

The following card is using MFT Color Challenge 167 with a beach theme for the Retro Rubber Challenge.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blogs/news/cc167 https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2021/06/challenge-160-summer-breeze.html

I used the stamp set Beach Happy from SU, dated 2019. The ink colors I chose are SU Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and GKD Kraft. I used SU Crumb Cake cardstock for the card base and the Seaside Embossing Folder also by SU, retired. I used a stitched rectangle die, from The Stamps of Life, to cut the umbrella images out and the size wouldn’t fit on an A2 size card, so I made a 5 X 7 inch card base so the three umbrellas would fit across the card. I used partial embossing to make the stitched border around using a slimline die, but then I felt it was missing something so I added the embossing. I saw this idea on Pinterest for this stamp set, and modified it to fit the color challenge and the size of my dies.

Yellow and Gray in 8 min and 47 sec

Today I sat down with two stamp sets, mounted on wood or acrylic ready to stamp, ink opened, markers ready, and timer set to create a flower card in 10 minutes. I tried one yesterday and couldn’t make it happen.

http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com/2021/04/247.html https://modsquadchallenge.com/perfectly-pantone/

I used only yellow and gray to color and black to stamp on white cardstock. Stamps used are Sweetbriar Rose and Happy Thoughts, both by Stampin’Up. The gray cardstock is SU from the Neutrals collection and the white is Gina K Designs. I did a quick color with Spectrum Noir Citrus Blend, CT1, 2 and 3, Copic Cool Grays, C1, 2, and 3. My timer showed 1 minutes and 53 seconds left, so that made 8 minutes and 47 seconds used to complete the card. I have someone in mind to send this to, so it was worth the quick creating.
