Birthday White Space

The final day of My Favorite Things Summer School is about white space. I enjoyed the lesson.

https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/summer-school-2020-day-5

I used the Happy Birthday Script die from MFT. I had a bit of issue with this as I kept losing the dot of the “i” so I finally went to my embellishments and found a pink pearl. That was perfect for the save of the dot. The pink paper is Stampin’Up Pink Pirouette, which I blended the lightest ink I own onto it, Gina K Designs Innocent Pink. The flower is from Everything’s Rosy by Sunny Studio. This was the first time I inked this set, so I looked on the Sunny Studio blog and they have a chart for using the set. The rose has 5 layers, so I used the following colors: GKD Innocent Pink for layer A, Bubblegum Pink for layer B, Lawn Fawn Guava for layer C, GKD Passionate Pink for Layer D, and GKD Lipstick for Layer E. There are only 3 layers to the leaf and I used GKD Jelly Bean Green, Grass Green, and Fresh Asparagus for the layers. I cut both images with matching dies.

I enjoyed stamp school. It has been enjoyable to find items in my stash that haven’t been used in a long time or never used.

Birthday Fishes

I had a bit of fun with the Birthday Buddies stamp set from Paper Smooches. This has been a favorite of mine for the last five or so years.

https://papersmooches.blogspot.com/2020/08/august-1-14-birthday-challenge.html https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/summer-school-2020-day-1

The Paper Smooches challenge is to make a birthday card. The My Favorite Things Day 1 is about the visual triangle. I used the fish to make a visual triangle with your eye following the three fish, with three water bubbles, then the googly eyes. I love having an excuse to use googly eyes!

The paper is MFT Birthday Brights patterned paper. I used Tombow marker colors that matched with the balloons on the paper. The fish are stamped and embossed on Bristol paper, colored with a water brush and Tombow markers from the Tropical collection. Fun challenges and a fun card to create.

Birthday On Point

I created a slimline card on Saturday.

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/07/just-us-girls-challenge-544-trend-week.html

Stamp set used are Sizzix Free Hugs — Cactus Set and dies, and Lawn Fawn Year Ten. I used two stencils from SU, Brick and Clouds, all ink blended. The inspiration for this layout was from the Lawn Fawn blog using cactus from the new Simply Summer stamp set. I own a few cactus sets, so the Sizzix one was the one I chose to use for this card. This card was posted at Split Coast Stampers as part of the inspiration challenge and MISTI challenge: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2995060?&cat=500&ppuser=301308

Slimline cards are the newest trend I have seen in the paper crafting world, with dies from many manufacturers. This card was all cut using my paper trimmer. So far, that is working for me. This is the second one I have made with in the last week.

Birthday Silhouette

Playing along with the Mod Squad Challenge this week. Having fun ink blending and creating a birthday card for my stash.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/silhouette-time/

I followed Cathy Zielske’s card idea, https://www.cathyzielske.com/2020/07/more-masking-ink-blending-and-silhouette-stamping-featuring-products-from-gina-k-designs/, and created this card. I used the stamps Scripty Sayings and Nurturing Blooms for the stamping. My ink colors are Jelly Bean Green, Lovely Lavendar, and Sea Glass. After adding my sentiment and embossing in gold, I felt my card needed a bit more gold. I used the Versamarker and embossed the outline. It is not perfect, but works.

I enjoyed creating this card. Thanks for a fun challenge!

Happy Birthday Cupcake

This card will be entered in several challenges.

Paper Smooches stamps are a favorite of mine. I love the cute critters, graphic shapes, fun sentiments, and fun challenges. Kim the illustrator and owner is retiring from the company. I am participating in the current challenge using a few of the first stamps I ever purchased from this company. The set Hallaballoo is a birthday builder set. I have used it numerous times. Today I used the cupcake from the set, cut out with scissors. The happy birthday is from Sentiment Sampler and the hexagon shapes are from Geo-Graphics.

The sketch from CAS Colors & Sketches is the sketch I used in this card. I used my MISTI to place the stamp straight.

I love Anything Goes challenges, so this will be entered in Simon Says Stamp challenge as well as Always Fun Challenges.

The colors for this card were from Split Coast Stampers color challenge CC797 of Terracotta Tile, So Saffron, Tranquil Tide, and Berry Burst. I substituted GKD Tranquil Teal for Tranquil Tide; teal is a bit more blue. I substituted GKD Sweet Corn for So Saffron, which is a very good match. The other colors matched the ones listed. I enjoyed creating this card using Paper Smooches stamps, fun colors, and a fun sketch. Thanks for spending time with me.

Birthday Flowers

https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/birthday-project-march2020

I pulled out the following colors: Gina K Designs Passionate Pink as a substitute for Melon Mambo, GKD Sweet Corn as a substitute for So Safforn, and SU Balmy Blue to create the flowers. All carstock is Hobby Lobby. The black is Versafine Black, embossed in clear powder.

These colors are for the color challenge with CAS Colors and Sketches. I have a lot of white space to help with the Clean and Simple feel.

I am also submitting this to the My Favorite Things monthly birthday challenge. The current challenge is the make a floral birthday card.

The stamps used are Gina K Designs Bold and Blooming along with matching dies, and Stampin Up Petite Petals with matching punch. I glued the flowers in the center then added a rhinestone, from Hobby Lobby. Love the colors and challenges.

Masculine Speed Stamping

I found cardstock in the challenge colors, made a plan, and began creating.

http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com/2020/01/challenge-218-espresso-pronto.html

I set the timer on my phone, beginning at zero. When finished, it said 08:18:19. Like the challenge says, it is not a masterpiece. I do have 2 masculine birthdays this month as I am sure this will be fine for one of them.

I used all Stampin Up product for this card. The cardstock is from the Neutrals pack. I know the cardbase is Early Expresso along with the ink. The top layer is Crumb Cake. I added a layer behind the stamped layer which I think is Sahara Sand. Stamp sets used are Sky is the Limit for the greeting and clouds, Moon Lake for the canoe and tree stamp, and High Tide for the birds.

Paper Pieced Tulip Re-Do

I made this card for the Gina K Designs Monthly Mix Challenge.

https://www.ginakdesigns.com/2020/01/01/january-monthly-mix-challenge/

Stamp sets used: Tropical Blooms, A Beautiful Life

The paper is Lawn Fawn, Gotta Have Gingham (retired). I added the black layer when it the frame looked odd on the blue background. The black made a difference. The card base is My Favorite Things card stock. I have a set of many colors and just flip through till I have a match.

Here is the card I made last year with this stamp set.

Balloon Wreath Birthday

This card was created for the Double D Challenge and the MISTI challenge at Split Coast Stampers. I was so happy to see the mood board for the Double D Challenge with hot air balloons. I have a few sets of hot air balloons and always enjoy using them. This time, I used a fun set from Stampin Up called Lift Me Up.

http://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2020/01/fun-with-balloons.html

I used the Gina K Designs Wreath Builder template for my wreath. Colors used are Peach Bellini, Blue Denim with matching paper from Gina K Designs, and Mint Macaron with matching paper from Stampin Up. I flicked a bit of sparkle, well a lot of sparkle with a Crafter’s Companion Clear Sparkle Pen. I have seen this done by hitting the sparkle pen against a marker. It leaves a lot of sparkle! I did spread sparkle on the banners as one cannot have too much sparkle. I have a person in mind to receive this card and I am sure the sparkle will bring a smile to her face.
