Daylily

I made a lily card today in honor of the Featured Stamper at Splitcoast Stampers. Since everything used is over a year old, it makes the perfect card for the Retro Rubber Challenge.

The stamp set used is Thank You Floral by Gina K Designs from 2018. I colored it with So Saffron SU Blends (alcohol markers) which matched the embossed panel. I used the SU Ornate Floral Embossing Folder from 2020. I love the small flower print and use it quite a bit. The other markers used are Spectrum Noir Citrus Green colors and one of the brown ones.

This will be entered in the Retro Rubber Challenge: https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/05/challenge-207-anything-goes.html

I like this lily. I left a sentiment off so it can be used for anything. Thanks for stopping by!

May Basket

My card is featuring a basket and the basket weave texture.

The basket set is called Blossoming Basket, released in 2018 by Stampin Up. It was released with the embossing folder, Basket Weave, which is the texture in this card. The greeting is from Go-To Greetings, released in 2022, also Stampin Up.

I colored everything with alcohol markers. I used a Spellbinder Circle die to mount my basket on. I popped up the center flower for a bit of interest. I used SU and Gina K Designs paper for this card. The gems are Taylored Expressions.

This will be entered in the Retro Rubber Challenge Anything Goes: https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/05/challenge-207-anything-goes.html

This will be posted to the Challenge Your Stash May challenge tomorrow, May 28, at Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge was to add a basket or weaving to your project. I chose both.

Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. I am thankful for all who have served our country and for those who have lost their life for our country.

wedding

Hello and welcome. Just a little history for this card. When our daughter was 12 she became very good friends with 4 girls, they are now turning 50 this year and are still very close. This is the first marriage for one of them. Three of them have been in long term marriages and the other one will probably never get married. I think it is just amazing they have all stayed so close for so many years. OK, enough yammering, now on to the card.

Dies used are from Crafter’s Companion Opulent Swirls. To make it easier to adhere them I added double back sticker paper to the cs before cutting. Hearts are from EK punches. First, I punched the tiny hearts then centered the larger one over the cutout. In the photo the hearts blue looks a little different because they’re from glitter paper, but in real life they match. Sentiment was printed on the computer. Inside sentiment was found on Pinterest.

Blue Recipe

I enjoy scouring the internet looking for new recipes. During the pandemic shut down my girlfriends and I shared recipes constantly. If there was a popular one, like Swedish Apple Pie it was shared over and over because someone wanted to prepare it but couldn’t find the recipe. That’s when we started our girlfriend recipe book. I now have 4 recipe books. I must admit that I didn’t make all of these recipes but it sure was fun finding, collecting and sharing.

The As You See It Challenge is a recipe which includes: Flowers, Die cut, Bow, Frame and Shades of Blue. My card has multiple shades of blue, a blue floral background with the occasional yellow, a frame, a bow and multiple die cuts. My card recipe usesTaylored Expressions’ Blooming Botanical stamp & stencil set for the background, Frame in Frame 3 cutting plate for my outer frame, Versatile Vases for one of my many dies, Flower Market stamp & die set and Bows die as well as the sentiment. I did add a oval die cut vellum under my vase so it didn’t get lost on the background. I debated on the sentiment and finally decided to add it.

My card will be shared with

Hopefully I didn’t miss any of the recipe and my card will be a successful entry. 🙂

PENGUIN SANTA

Hello and welcome. Today’s card will be entered in two challenges.

When I first saw this pp online, I knew I just had to use it. After finding this penguin cut file on the Silhouette a layout started coming together. Frame is a Torn Edge die from I don’t know who. Snowflake pp was also found online. I felt the featured penguin needed to be on paper other than the penguin pattern. Being so small, it was a little tedious putting that little guy together. After he was put together I realized I probably should have used a blue pp for the scarf so instead, I dropped a small amount on Craft White reinker on a piece of paper and used a small stylus to add dots to the scarf. Then I added white fun flock to the hat top & bottom and the earmuffs. And of course I just had to use googly eyes and popped him up.

Peace Love & Softball

If it’s the month of May and the middle of Spring it is also Softball and Baseball season for our grandchildren. We divide our time between going to baseball and softball games for them. It’s been very a very chilly baseball/softball season and soon there games will be over so I needed to get this softball card made for our granddaughter. I decided on paper strips in a few different sizes and colors to represent the baseline of a ball field. The black and white stripes to represent the umpire were inked using Sugar Peas Designs skinny striped stencil. The Impression Obsession sentiment was stamped and heat set on vellum represents having fun during the games!

My card today will be shared with:

The Four Seasons Challenge: Spring Season May 2023 challenge.

Another fun and inspiring mood board but I opted to go in a different direction with my card.

Daisy Silhouette

The Taylored Expressions Daisy Dreams stamp, stencil and die set I believe will stay within my arms reach for awhile yet. I’m loving this set. After watching Gina K Designs Stamp & Chat Live YouTube video on Silhouette Stenciling, I decided to give it a try. After masking off the left side and bottom of my card, I ink blended oranges and yellow inks. I did stamp the Daisy Dreams image for the stems to show then used the layering stencils and inked all layers in black ink. My bottom edge got a little wonky so I had to cover with the die cut sentiment otherwise I would have placed that sentiment in a different location. It was a fun new to me technique.

I’ll be sharing my card today with Double D Challenges: FLOWERS.

The mood board has beautiful, colorful flowers but I decided on a different take on this challenge with the silhouette.

triangle pocket fold

Hello and welcome. After seeing so many triangle pocket folds on Pinterest, I just had to try one. Cardstock and pp are both Stampin Up, hydrangeas are from an online coloring page colored with Copic’s and fussy cut. Since I couldn’t decide what to put in the bottom corners I went to my stash of gems and found these small pink ones. I know, they don’t look pink in the photo.

skeleton witch

https://cardsbygerry.blogspot.com/

Hello and welcome. Embossing folder used is from The Paper Studio, drippy goo is a Martha Stewart border punch, skeleton, hat and sentiment are all from the Silhouette. First, I colored the ef with a black stamp pad but didn’t really like the result so then I rubbed the stamp pad all over the embossed piece. It looks kind of messy and weird, but I like it. After cutting the skull I backed it with black paper. Sentiment was cut from red cs so I colored the bat with a Copic then used a cotton ball and black ink to dirty up the words. I also used the cotton ball on the drippy goo.
