Sweet Friend

I am part of a group that receives an image each month to create a card with. This month’s image is all about ice cream.

The image is called Sweet Shoppe. I colored the image with alcohol markers and added stencil paste to the ice cream portion for texture. The pink cardstock and patterned paper were part of the kit that was sent to me; they are Paper Studio product. I found a greeting in a stamp set about fruit that worked with this image.

While some of this product is not part of my stash, I did use green cardstock and the white card base from my stash. The dies used are Spellbinders circle dies. The sentiment banner is from The Stamps of Life, which I have had for several years in my stash.

I enjoy receiving a new image each month. I have received June’s image, yesterday and hope to create with it soon.

BIRDS

I am seeing bird challenges all over, so I colored birds.

I have had this embossing folder, Friendly Birds by Simon Says Stamp, for several months and this is the first time I have really used it. I embossed it to make sure it embossed well, cut the birds, and never did anything with them. I was inspired by Diane at Can You Handle the Pressure as she used this folder. Her design is not a Christmas one, which is what I kept trying to turn it into.

I began with using Gina K Designs Powder Blue blending it over the entire background. Then I colored each leaf, berry, and branch with several markers. I die cut the birds and embossed them separately. I colored each bird with bright colors. I used Black Nuvo drops for the eyes. They are glued to the embossed panel. I trimmed the panel down and attached it to a white card base.

The Sisterhood of Crafters: Birds https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2023/05/birds.html

I listen to birds singing every morning. I often hear them around 5:30 AM. I do enjoy listening to birds and watching them when I can. If I can’t watch them, I can always color a few birds.

Silhouette Condo

I started thinking about the Can You Handle The Pressure challenge to use an embossing folder with a twist of birds/birdhouses. I thought I had the perfect stamps and embossing folder in mind and when I found my stamp, it was a mailbox not a birdhouse. LOL….So I opted for an Inkadinkadoo bird stamp and a Sizzix embossing folder. I found a oval mask that fit perfectly over the embossed oval and blended some Distress Oxide Inks. Sentiment is from Taylored Expressions.

I did make a second card, well actually, this one was made first and put aside. Embossed my tree with the Darice embossing folder, then colored the leaves and tree with markers, sponged some blue ink for a sky background, stamped my “condo” birdhouses from a Gina K Designs stamp set “Sweet Friends”, and cut a frame from Taylored Expressions’ Frame in Frame 3 cutting plate, adding a sentiment also from Taylored Expressions. It seemed a little bare so decided to add some splatter which in Pennsylvania is also called pollen. Pollen is on everything and giving me a seasonal allergy attack.

Today’s silhouette card will be shared with:

Can You Handle the Pressure: Birds/Birdhouse twist

Just Us Girls #681 Silhouette and CAS Week. I think the silhouette has lots of white space so I’m considering it CAS even though I just realized it should be a CAS challenge week. It must be the pollen.

For the second year in a row, Mama Robin built her nest above our porch light. So I was very carefully going in and out the back door until Mama didn’t seem to be around anymore. No mama, no eggs, so hubby took the nest down. A little disappointing but really didn’t need bird poop on my patio.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

memorial thanks

Happy Memorial Day. Today’s card is very simple but very heartfelt.

My b-i-l has been visiting for a couple of days and since this is Memorial Day and he served in Korea I thought it would be very appropriate. The flag border and soldier image were both found online, and I printed the sentiment in my Hallmark card program. This will be on his plate at the dinner table tonight.

Thanks for stopping by your visits mean a lot to me. Have a great day and stay healthy & safe.

Daylily

I made a lily card today in honor of the Featured Stamper at Splitcoast Stampers. Since everything used is over a year old, it makes the perfect card for the Retro Rubber Challenge.

The stamp set used is Thank You Floral by Gina K Designs from 2018. I colored it with So Saffron SU Blends (alcohol markers) which matched the embossed panel. I used the SU Ornate Floral Embossing Folder from 2020. I love the small flower print and use it quite a bit. The other markers used are Spectrum Noir Citrus Green colors and one of the brown ones.

This will be entered in the Retro Rubber Challenge: https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/05/challenge-207-anything-goes.html

I like this lily. I left a sentiment off so it can be used for anything. Thanks for stopping by!

May Basket

My card is featuring a basket and the basket weave texture.

The basket set is called Blossoming Basket, released in 2018 by Stampin Up. It was released with the embossing folder, Basket Weave, which is the texture in this card. The greeting is from Go-To Greetings, released in 2022, also Stampin Up.

I colored everything with alcohol markers. I used a Spellbinder Circle die to mount my basket on. I popped up the center flower for a bit of interest. I used SU and Gina K Designs paper for this card. The gems are Taylored Expressions.

This will be entered in the Retro Rubber Challenge Anything Goes: https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/05/challenge-207-anything-goes.html

This will be posted to the Challenge Your Stash May challenge tomorrow, May 28, at Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge was to add a basket or weaving to your project. I chose both.

Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. I am thankful for all who have served our country and for those who have lost their life for our country.

wedding

Hello and welcome. Just a little history for this card. When our daughter was 12 she became very good friends with 4 girls, they are now turning 50 this year and are still very close. This is the first marriage for one of them. Three of them have been in long term marriages and the other one will probably never get married. I think it is just amazing they have all stayed so close for so many years. OK, enough yammering, now on to the card.

Dies used are from Crafter’s Companion Opulent Swirls. To make it easier to adhere them I added double back sticker paper to the cs before cutting. Hearts are from EK punches. First, I punched the tiny hearts then centered the larger one over the cutout. In the photo the hearts blue looks a little different because they’re from glitter paper, but in real life they match. Sentiment was printed on the computer. Inside sentiment was found on Pinterest.

Blue Recipe

I enjoy scouring the internet looking for new recipes. During the pandemic shut down my girlfriends and I shared recipes constantly. If there was a popular one, like Swedish Apple Pie it was shared over and over because someone wanted to prepare it but couldn’t find the recipe. That’s when we started our girlfriend recipe book. I now have 4 recipe books. I must admit that I didn’t make all of these recipes but it sure was fun finding, collecting and sharing.

The As You See It Challenge is a recipe which includes: Flowers, Die cut, Bow, Frame and Shades of Blue. My card has multiple shades of blue, a blue floral background with the occasional yellow, a frame, a bow and multiple die cuts. My card recipe usesTaylored Expressions’ Blooming Botanical stamp & stencil set for the background, Frame in Frame 3 cutting plate for my outer frame, Versatile Vases for one of my many dies, Flower Market stamp & die set and Bows die as well as the sentiment. I did add a oval die cut vellum under my vase so it didn’t get lost on the background. I debated on the sentiment and finally decided to add it.

My card will be shared with
As You See It Challenge #299 – Recipe for Framed Flowers in Blue

Hopefully I didn’t miss any of the recipe and my card will be a successful entry. 🙂

PENGUIN SANTA

Hello and welcome. Today’s card will be entered in two challenges.

When I first saw this pp online, I knew I just had to use it. After finding this penguin cut file on the Silhouette a layout started coming together. Frame is a Torn Edge die from I don’t know who. Snowflake pp was also found online. I felt the featured penguin needed to be on paper other than the penguin pattern. Being so small, it was a little tedious putting that little guy together. After he was put together I realized I probably should have used a blue pp for the scarf so instead, I dropped a small amount on Craft White reinker on a piece of paper and used a small stylus to add dots to the scarf. Then I added white fun flock to the hat top & bottom and the earmuffs. And of course I just had to use googly eyes and popped him up.
