Graduation

We just had wonderful, very special fun week with our daughter. I got a little tired out but it’s a good tired.

While she was here, she asked if I would help her make a couple graduation cards (she is not a card maker). We found a box fold card on Pinterest you can see here http://paperfantasies.blogspot.com/2013/04/graduation-box-card-gift-idea.html?m=1#.UWzCNMrqqTI

We went to Hobby Lobby for the pp and came home and got to work. She did a lot of it herself. The graduation caps, on the belly bands, were fussy cut from a different piece of pp and we added Glossy Accents to them.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you taking the time. have a great day and stay healthy & safe.

Skeleton Spinner

I have been working on Summer Virtual Stamp Night with Splitcoast Stampers. One of the cards is to be a spinner. I found a Frankenstein in my stash all colored and cut out, so I began creating with him in mind. First snag was my circle was too large for my pennies as I didn’t pay enough attention to the details of the tutorial. So off I went for more change and the quarters worked. Next snag was Frankie was too large for the small circle as he kept stopping the spinning motion. Sad to say, he didn’t make it to my card.

This card is all Halloween. It will be entered in the Two Old Bats Halloween challenge. I remembered this challenge thanks to Buddies Gayle and Gerry.

https://twooldbatshalloweenchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/06/june-anything-halloween.html

My card background was created using a Paper Pumpkin Sept 2019 set. I added the candies from a Paper Smooches set.

The card is quite heavy, so it will not be mailed. It does spin! It was fun to create.

Balancing Frank

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge

I almost forgot about the June Halloween Anything Goes Challenge with the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge blog but finally finished my card. Our Buddy Gerry chose Frankenstein for her awesome card and I must admit that Frankenstein is my favorite monster, too. Since I couldn’t decide on which little Frank I wanted to use on my card, I made a balancing act of three Franks that were about the same size. The bottom Frank is a Michael’s red rubber mounted dollar stamp, on top of him is Frank from Recollections stamps (Michael’s) and then trying to catch his balance is Stampin Up’s Googly Ghouls Frank. After stamping, inking and fussy cutting the Franks, I positioned them on a piece of patterned paper from my stash and die cut some black grass from The Cat’s Pajamas grass die. After gluing everyone to the card layers, I was wondering if I could have put wobblers on each of them????? I decided to let well enough alone.

Always a fun mood board and fun challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Channeling My Inner Gina

Today I created with a Gina K Designs technique. I had so much learning a new technique and made 8 backgrounds before stopping and cleaning up.

https://ginakdesigns.com/2022/06/01/june-2022-monthly-mix-challenge/?v=7516fd43adaa

The technique is called Polished Stone. Here is her video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeRZNI_Xeio&t=50s

I used Ranger cardstock with a glossy finish, ink refills, gold shimmer, and 70% rubbing alcohol. I used cotton balls to apply it all over the cardstock. It is addictive, which is why I kept going. I kept trying different colors to see what they looked like. This one has green, Kraft, and the gold all swirled together. I am not sure what kind of black ink really works on this kind of finish. I started with Versafine and after stamping four times, it still wasn’t dark enough for me. I came back with Archival Ink and stamped it another three or four times. I decided to let it go and let it dry. I added it to a gold layer and then on an Ivory card base. I like this technique and really like the finished card. I chose to let the background be with no embellishments.

I stamped the greeting with Gina K Designs Merry and Bright set.

Silhouette Garden

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges

The challenge with Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges #6 is “In the Garden sponsored by All Dressed Up” For my garden, I decided to create a white on black silhouette with Stampin Up’s Upsy Daisy stamp set heat embossed in white embossing powder. The 3 dragonflies were part of Gina K Designs’s Follow Your Dreams stamps set illustrated by Theresa Momber and the patterned paper is also GKD’s Spring Parade pure luxury paper. After layering the patterned paper on black, I needed something for the silhouette image and thankfully the lightbulb went on and I remembered this striped piece that our Bonnie gifted to me. I think I tend to be a hoarder with some of these gifts. The stamp sets were two oldies but goodies.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and Be safe.

Flamazing

Can You Handle the Pressure

This month’s challenge with the Can You Handle the Pressure is Anything Goes with a Twist of Birds.

For my bird, I decided on a flamingo from Taylored Expressions’s Tickled Pink stamp, stencil and die set. My embossing folder is a larger Cuttlebug folder with some swirls, flowers, hearts, birds and a sun. I lightly sponged ink over the raised embossed areas, mounted my flamingo on an action wobbler, layered with black cardstock and adhered to a 5×7 card. Hmmmmm…..so the sun ended up on the bottom of the card so I very carefully lifted the layer off the card base and turned it around. Hmmmmm….now my flamingo was upside down. Sigh!!! popped that pink bird off very carefully and decided to add the “You’re Flamazing!” sentiment under the flamingo’s legs. Adhered everything down once more and completed my card for the day.

Lots of thunderstorms early this morning but thankfully no severe weather like other areas in the US are experiencing. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Happy Retirement

Today’s card is for the man my hubby hired to take his place when he retired. Here we are 22 years later, and his replacement is retiring. I got the idea for this on Pinterest. Since the business is manufacturing trailer hitches, I decided to add a couple clip art trailer hitches on the business card. It’s kind of plain and simple, but hubby thought it was perfect.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day and stay heathy & safe.

Christmas House

I have been creating a few Christmas cards lately.

https://peaceonearthchristmas.blogspot.com/2022/06/peace-on-earth-challenge-17.html

This began with a movie theme, Christmas Vacation, but I am not sure that this house really fits the house in the movie. I used an embossing folder to add trees to the background. I tried to add snow with white pigment ink and sparkle embossing powder. I added Nuvo sparkle to the tree and the house. I do like the card and it was fun to create. The stamp set used is Farmhouse Christmas by StampinUp.

Precious purple

This is another take on the background stamp from the April My Monthly Hero kit. Having the matching layered stencils makes coloring so quick and easy. Inks are by Gina K Designs: Lovely Lavender, Wild Wisteria and two new colors, Light Spruce and Medium Spruce. The bee was colored with Copic Y38.  I used a Black Onyx mat. The sentiment, from Beautiful Balloons by Gina K designs was stamped in Edible Eggplant. I’m entering this in Colorful Options challenge which is Precious Purple.
