Gifts from a stamp buddy

Here is what I did with a lovely gift of some balloons and clouds that Gayle sent to me recently. She did most of the stenciling and colouring but I did add a little of my own as well.

Hot Air adventure

The one on the left I didn’t do anything except add the card base and the sentiment as it is was perfect as is. But I do like the softness of the stenciling Gayle did. The one on the right I did a bit more too. In fact I could have used these both together but decided to make them as two cards rather than one. I marked about where each balloon would be on white card stock and then inked the various colours checking to see if they fit properly behind each balloon. Thank goodness for those tiny brushes as you can do much finer detail using them. I messed up slightly and got red ink along the edge where I wanted a white border. Cheated a bit as I couldn’t erase it so I used good old white out. Not a perfect solution but it worked. Unfortunately the edge got slightly damaged and wouldn’t you know that the camera picks it up whereas in real life you don’t really notice it. So Gayle – thank you for the gift and I hope you like the results.

Nautical Decor

One of the small wall decorations on our boat was looking quite ratty so I threw it away and was searching for a replacement. Of course when looking for something specific it can never be found, but during my search I suddenly wondered why I was shopping when it was possible to make my own.

Seahorse wall decor

I had die cut a lot of seahorses recently as I had an idea for another card, but hadn’t used them. I spent some time pencil colouring them using some gamsol to blend. I also fussy cut some stamped shells from a GKD set. Using this same set and another with a nautical theme I stamped various images over the watercoloured background. I used the wreath builder template to get this result. Popped up the seahorses and added the whole panel to a darker blue piece of CS. Added this to a small canvas that is quite thin and light which I had painted black first.

In general I usually post to my main blog but as some challenges ask for new images that are anything but a card, and I never link my posts here publically, I figured I could post so all of you can see it and still perhaps use it in a challenge at a later date.

July Virtual Stamp Night Cards

I have been participating in Virtual Stamp Night at Split Coast Stampers. I take my time and never complete all of the challenges. They had a total of 15, if I counted correctly, over a two day span. There is a deadline of July 15 at midnight to complete all if one chooses, but I am basically done. I enjoyed finding stamps, embossing folders, and anything in my stash to use and stretch my creativity. The theme was Rock Star.

This one is based on Elvis. His favorite colors were pink and black, so that is what I chose. The stamps are mainly from Paper Smooches and this card was entered in the July challenge at Paper Smooches.

JUL19VSNI Thank You, Thank You Very Much
JUL19VSND Sketch

The stamps used for the above card is from The Stamps of Life. The background paper is a fun marbling print.

JUL19VSNK Rocky and Bullwinkle

This card needed to be something flying, like the flying squirrel. I used trees from a set from Gina K Designs, a plane, clouds, and sentiment from a Stampin Up set.

I will go ahead and finish this post and come back another time to continue with more cards. I have enjoyed playing with the challenges. Thanks for looking.

Family Fun

It was a busy weekend for us which is very unusual.  Saturday was the annual Chrvala picnic hosted by one of my husband’s cousins.  Always such a good time and the one time that the cousins get together and catch up with each other.  Our son, daughter inlaw and our 18 month granddaughter decided to come home the day before the picnic and stay with us and our daughter’s two children decided to sleep over the same night.  It was fun but a whirlwind of activity but worth it when our two oldest grandchildren decided it was the best picnic ever so I created this Thank you card for our hostess and host.

GKD stamp sets  Massive Messages, Blossom, and Hello Sunshine were used as well as embossing powder for my “fireworks”.  I then sponged the galaxy background with distress inks but it looked too dark so sprayed on irridescent Glitter Dust to try to brighten it up.  This is a 5×7 card so the children can write in their own thanks.

Ideas

So MFT came out with a pretty Card Kit, recently.  I like it and everyone that has gotten it absolutely loves it, but I was thinking I could do something similar with different stamps.  So, I used the Beautiful Bloom stamp and Hello Beautiful sets that were a card kit last summer to create this card with the same ideas from this new kit.  I used a piece that I did a while back with different Ken Oliver Color Bursts and embossed the flower in white ink on top.

After cutting the flower out using the die, I cut out the word “Beautiful from the Hello Beautiful set.  I used silver, but realized it wouldn’t look good just on top of the flower, so cut out the background for it in a dark blue that was similar to the darkest color in the watercolor piece.

This is what I wound up with and I really like it.  I used my Cuttlebug to do all the die cutting and some Gina K Connect glue for adhering everything.

Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me today!

It’s a Jungle

So I did break down and ordered the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero card kit for June which was a jungle theme.  It was a nice kit and something different than what’s already in my stamp collection.  I’ve really been trying to be more selective in my purchases.

First one uses the monkey image which I used three times and found three different “hello” sentiments to use….things are better in threes or maybe see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil???  It’s a little busy and not really sure if I like it or not.

3 Little Monkeys

The next one uses the elephant image which is an awesome stamp and used the stencil from the kit to lightly sponge the background.

and finally the flamingo which I never tire of using.

June 2019 Hero Arts

Sorry for the long post but thanks for looking.  I really need to try to post as I finish a card.  We are heading for a possible heat wave but it is officially summer so I’ll deal with it.

Miss Soccer

A card for our Brooke to celebrate the end of her soccer season uses, GKD’s Emmy & Riley stamp set by Beth Silaika.  Cute flamingo images with a different card fold.  I always feel that I need to include opening instructions on cards like this but I think our granddaughter figured it out.  The only problem was that it didn’t stand up.

Baseball Season

It’s a little difficult to find stamps for sports but I stumbled across this Champion Player stamp set by Carta Bella Paper Co. at SimonSaysStamp. I gold embossed the images to create my background and added some die cuts for the center.  Our grandson, Chase, had a fun season and I’m sure his parents were ready for a break by the end of his season.

Vintage Floral Challenge

I created today’s card for the Monthly Mix Challenge at StampTV to create a Vintage Floral creation.  I used the Through Thick & Thin flower stamps from GKD to stamps the background and heat emboss in clear embossing powder.  The main image is also from GKD and is the Inspiring Poppies stamp set which was also clear embossed and then colored in using Chameleon Color tone pencils in white and then adding a little pink and green.  The sentiment is from the GKD Hello Sunshine stamptv kit.  Added a little bit of lace and hope this is considered vintage.

This card will be entered into:  https://www.ginakdesigns.com/2019/06/01/june-2019-monthly-mix-challenge/  hosted by Arjita.
