….hard to find

SSC250

and LUCKY to have!

I finally finished and mailed Valentine cards however who knows how long they may take to be received in friends’ mailboxes. The valentine’s supplies were stored away and my desk and stamp area cleared so it’s time to move onto my next favorite holiday is St. Patrick’s Day. I decided to use the sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps to kick off St. Patrick’s Day.

In my continuing effort to use patterned papers, the background piece is from a Recollections Pretty in Pink paper pad. The equal panels were created using a Designer Stencils Shamrock miniprint stencil and GKD grass green Glitz Glitter Gel. Sentiment from Colorado Craft Company was gold embossed and cut using Spellbinders Fancy Tags die and lightly sponged in green ink. I added three die cut shamrocks to the tag.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek.

More snow!! A little more of a nuisance than major accumulations thankfully.

Purples!!

Make the Cards Challenge #2

DRU Challenge #162

The challenge at a new to me challenge blog is shades of purple. I can do purple and like it too! And in my continued commitment to use patterned paper, I layered a piece of Recollections Pretty In Ink paper pad to a light purple card base. My next shade of purple is a deeper shade and I created a frame and embossing the center Spellbinder’s Classic Large Ovals with Cuttlebug’s Swiss Dots embossing folder. Neutrals are allowed in this challenge so I die cut SimonSaysStamp’s Daisy stem twice for the front of my card. And adding one more shade of purple stamped the sentiment from Gina K Designs Stenciled Spring stamp set in VersaFine Clair black ink.

I would have preferred that the sentiment was stamped and white heat embossed however the Recollections heavy weight cardstock discolored as it was heated so stamped in black it is.

Dies R Us Challenge #162 is an “anything goes + a metal die from any company sold in their store = Spellbinders Large Classic Ovals to meet that challenge.

After cleaning up and clearing 29″ of snow for the last two days, it was a pleasure to use a daisy on my card today. Thanks for stopping in to take a peek.

Heart Bloom

As You See It Challenge #242

Working on Valentine cards when I ran across the As You See It Challenge using the following sketch and hearts and flowers.

challenge 242 hearts and flowers 1

Since I am still on a patterned paper kick, I found this pretty flowered paper in my stash so decided it will cover the flower part of the challenge. My hearts were die cut using a Momenta very detailed heart die with flowers and layered it on a Spellbinder’s Classic Hearts die set. My stamped sentiment is Wealth of Wishes from Gina K Designs. This is large die and large floral pattern were telling me I needed a 5×7″ card base.

Not sure if Will is going to like such a flowery card but this one may have his name on it. Maybe he can shop in my cards and choose to give it to me. LOL!!!

The snow has begun early than expected at my house and is supposed to continue into Tuesday. I won’t be at all upset if the forecast is wrong.

From 4 to 40

Celebrating our baby’s 40th Birthday! Yikes, how did that happen and when did he get so old!! This sweet photo was when our Will was 4 years old and to think in another week he will be 40 makes me really wonder where the time has gone. I used the Spellbinder’s kalidescope plaid die to create the panels which fit perfectly on a gate fold card and the word die cut is an unknown. I’m loving this card almost as much as our son.

And since Lisa K turned me onto Krafty Al, I have been trying to use those patterned paper pads that I have accumulated over time. Those buy one get 2 just get me every time. So this 5×7 card for our granddaughter is simple but I am happy with the layering.

I’d be happy to cut some kalidescope plaids if anyone wants them. Just let me know the colors of the layers.

Quite cold here today so I’m staying put and working on Valentine’s.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek.

Silhouette One Layer

AAA Cards: Game #182 One Layer + optional twists silhouette

Back with another post today and since I put so much time in creating my template for these color blocks decided to make one more card but this time a CAS one layer with silhouette for the AAA Cards challenge.

My blocks are inked using GKD’s Applemint, Wild Dandelion, Sweet Mango and Blue Raspberry and the image is stamped in Versafine black onxy ink. My so sweet image is from My Hero Arts August 2017 kit.

It’s a good thing this was not a timed challenge since it took me forever to create and ink the two templates. I’m actually surprised because to my eyes it looks straight and even balanced.

Thanks for stopping in once again. Keep warm….apparently we in the east are in for some very cold temperatures. It should give me a good excuse to make my Valentine cards.

DRU #161 Double D Challenges: Flowers In Containers

Hello on a very cold night in Pennsylvania. I was taking a break from challenges while I worked on Easter Cards for the Making Cards for Troops organization. I prepared and sent off 80 Easter cards. My small way to say thank you for your service. Normally my group of girlfriends would assemble the cards but we are still social distancing due to Covid concerns. My card today is for the Dies R Us Challenge #161 Challenge which is Anything Goes and including a metal die from a company sold in their store.

I used the Art Impressions Double Stitched die, Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Ribbon message set, Spellbinders Rectangle Nestabilities to create the template for my colored blocks.

The challenge for Double D Challenges is Flowers in Containers so my flowers are a silhouette image from Gina K Designs Stenciled Spring stamp set. GKD inks in Applemint, Wild Dandelion, Sea Glass and SSS Orange Peel inks as well as Versafine Black Onxy to stamp the silhouette image.

Here are my Easter cards for Making Cards for Troops organization:

Thanks for looking.

Chuck’s Birthday

Double D Challenges

The challenge at Double D Challenges is celebrating their 5th anniversary/birthday party with of course CUPCAKES. Definitely cannot have a birthday party with out cupcakes, can you? This card, for my son-in-law’s birthday the end of January, I was anxious to use the Spellbinders Kaleidoscope Plaid die set that I received before Christmas. This is a set of three dies to create my plaid and each had to be cut 4 times to create the card front. My cupcakes because you cannot eat just one is an old red rubber Hampton Art Studio G stamp and the sentiment with candles is The Stamping Village’s Concord & 9th Happy Birthday set.

Happy Birthday/Anniversary to Double D and thanks for the fun challenges.

Chuck’s cupcake will need a lot more candles than 5 but a little less than 50!! Oh My!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Celebrating Lynn

January 2021 Monthly Mix Challenge – GKD

It turns out I had more birthday’s in January than I remembered. This card is for a cousin who has discovered that her breast cancer has metastasized to her spine and has started treatments and is recovering from gall bladder and pancreatitis over the holidays but good news is that she has decided to finally retire and hang up that nurse’s cap. Hoping that this “Put your Red Dress On” challenge hosted by Cat at Gina K Designs will let her know how special she is to me.

For my card and January 2021 Monthly Mix challenge the primary color is to be red as well as a celebratory card. My card base is Gina’s Red Velvet cardstock, the image was stamped from the Birthday Blessings stamp set in black ink but the little heart flowers were colored in using a Sakura Red Star gelly roll pen. The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Cherry Red ink. It was layered on black cardstock and I added a vine die cut that I picked up at my local big box store.

Have a great day and stay safe.

Alexandra’s 3rd Birthday

Dies R Us Challenge: DRU Challenge #160

The Paper Players: PP522

Today’s card is for our youngest granddaughter celebrating her third birthday. Not a lot of stamping on today’s card but some die cutting, some stenciling and layering on my 5×7 card. My background was created using Simple Stories Fireworks Stencil inked with some GKD powder blue ink. I used my Waffle Flower A2 Layers die to cut out my focal piece and layering cardstocks. Deciding to keep the snowy theme of Anna and Elsa going, I added a Cheery Lynn snowflake cut in cardstock and then again in sparkly paper, adding Concord & 9th double cut numbers dies and my New Simon Says Stamp Chunky Happy die with shadow and outline. My stamped feature is an older rubber mounted Kolette Hall stamp that was probably purchased in the dollar bin at AC Moore many years ago.

My something new for The Paper Players challenge is the SSS Chunky Happy die.

DRU Challenge #160 is an Anything Goes and I used Waffle Flowers A2 layers die as well as Cheery Lynn snowflake die and two others.

Anna & Elsa is wrapping paper that was too small for the present but perfect for this card. Thanks to Gina K’s recent Stamp & Chat on using wrapping paper for cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy Twenty Twenty-one!!
