Birds & Dragonfly Sketch

Paper Dragonfly Challenge #4

Sunday Stamps SSC280 In the Middle

Today’s inspiration came from two challenge blogs. The Paper Dragonfly challenge was Birds with a origami dragonfly….oh my! And a very classic sketch with the Sunday Stamps group using any shape in the middle.

I wasn’t quite sure how to incorporate the birds and dragonfly together but when I saw the sketch challenge decided on patterned paper. Gina K Designs patterned paper was the focus of my birds…birds with umbrellas, my center shape is an Altenew Linear Crossroads die and my origami dragonfly finished off this card. I guess there is origami paper but alas none in my stash so I used patterned paper. These fingers of mine kept on getting in the way of my folds but after the 4th try decided this was the best of the bunch. LOL. Always fun to play along with these challenges.

Hugs

The Sisterhood of Crafters

Sentiments, Only is the challenge with The Sisterhood of Crafters so I decided to make my card with multiple birthday rainbow hugs. My card was a CASE of Cathy Z.’s card that I admired on SSS. After die cutting SimonSaysStamps Painted Hugs die multiple times, I added a sentiment and hearts from Gina K Designs A Little Love stamp set.

Can You Handle the Pressure

Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge #12

The little taste of spring seems to have reverted to February weather for today so it seemed like a perfect time to create some Chrismas/winter cards and play along with not one but two different challenges.

The Can You Handle the Pressure challenge is Anything Goes Embossing Folder challenge with a Twist of Green. For my card today, I pulled out a SimonSaysStamp Forest Border embossing folder which was layered on green cardstock. Using the Mood Board for inspiration on the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge #12, I focused on the image with the Christmas tree front and center. I die cut the Tim Holtz Sizzix Woodlands tree in two shades of green layering it the front of the embossed forest background. Undecided about a sentiment, I held my breath as I opted to add the tiny sentiment from Gina K Designs Simple Snowflake stamp set.

Bicycle, Bicycle, Bicycle

Double D Challenges: Something with a Handle

I want to ride it now!! Actually not really sure if I remember how to ride a bicycle. I grew up with two wheels, handlebar and pedal brakes! Listening to some Queen music made me this of this GKD image from Your One Kind of Beautiful StampTV kit for the something with a handle challenge at Double D Challenges. I stenciled the striped bottom using a portion of Pretty Pink Posh’s wide stripes stencil, added a strip of green cardstock, then decided the card needed something else so very carefully masked and stenciled the sun rays from GKD’s Sunshine stencil. The inside of the card repeats the black stipes and green strip with a sentiment and sun image from the same set.

Funny thing is that when I was uploading this card to my computer this card from 2018 popped up.

LOL – I do believe I like the updated version much better but my 2018 pink glittery bicycle would fit the mood board better than my entry! It’s always fun to play along with Double D Challenges.

The Paper Players: PP583

The challenge with Laurie at The Paper Players is a clean and simple challenge with a theme of Blooms. I’m thinking since blooms are small and not fully opened flowers I would use a spotlight technique to ink in a portion of my larger stamped flower. Mindy Eggen recently did a card featuring this technique on her blog.

I decided on Stampin Up’s From the Garden stamp which was stamped in versamark ink and white heat embossed. Using a masking circle stencil, I blended inks in orange, pink and purple-ish. I wasn’t sure of the color names since these inks were left over on the blending brushes. I was lucky to have come across a piece of Gina K Designs Wild Orchid cardstock which seemed to fit perfectly with my spotlighted colors and added a sentiment strip coloring it with the same blending brush. Amazing how much ink really stays on those brushes.

Birthday Plaid

Can You Handle The Pressure

My card will be entered into the Can You Handle The Pressure challenge which requires the use of an embossing folder and the twist of plaid.

My embossing folder is from Cuttlebug with lots of circle some flowers which may have been a spring bundle. After locating some plaid patterned paper from my stash I added it to a side panel of the embossing folder. Die cut a Spellbinders in’spire Flower Power II die from a SU Banners die and added to my card front. I then die cut the flower from white card stock once again and also from the plaid patterned paper and inlaid the plaid into my petals.

Another fun challenge and a way to keep on bringing out those embossing folders.

AAA Cards Challenge Game 210

A clean and simple sketch challenge + silhouette image is the challenge for the AAA Cards Challenge. I really do like silhouette images but trying to find one small enough for my CAS card was a little challenging. I figure I couldn’t go wrong with this butterfly stamp.

I first die cut my circle to mask off my panel, then using SimonSaysStamp’s In the Round stencil blending Gina K Designs inks in Key Lime and Turquoise Sea. After removing the stencil, blended more ink on the circle. The butterfly is another Inkadinkadoo oldie “Utopiary” and sentiment from GKD’s Let’s Talk another oldie. All of this white and clean space on my card I was nervous about putting an inky fingerprint or two on it. Phew!!!

Frenchie Sunflower

This adorable image is a free digi from La-La Land Crafts. La-La Land Crafts is joining the effort of crafting community to bring awareness to a current situation in Ukraine. We created this image of a french bulldog holding a sunflower – a sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine. All proceeds from sales will be donated to the Global Empowerment Mission. It’s really special how the stamp companies are coming together in support of the people in Ukraine.

My patterned paper is a most treasured piece created by Bonnie. I keep on making copies from the master sheet. Thanks Bonnie. I’m not really sure if my pooch is the correct colors but I guess he can be any color I desire. LOL

Mardi Gras

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges #3

The challenge with Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges #3 theme is Mardi Gras with the added dragonfly. I chose Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold. So thought my Spellbinders Fleur DeLis die would be appropriate and die cut the smallest die in green and purple and a glitter gold.

My dragonfly for this card is an unbranded die and was cut in a green/gold designer paper and layered on top of a purple die cut dragonfly. The sentiment is Gina K Designs Enjoyable Greetings Stamp & Die set. I think this card is growing on me!!! Not 100% yet especially since that top green layer is a little crooked 🙂 I can live with it and it’s better than horrible!!
