Continuing with the “Blue” challenge theme for January, The Sisterhood of Crafters’ January Challenge is The Color Blue. Blue should be the obvious color on your card project. I decided to CASE a card that was posted on the SSS website when the Carnation Frame die was released. I purchased a Sudio71 watercolor kit that was on clearance at SimonSaysStamps some time ago. The kit includes paints, watercolors and watercolor pencils with a few brushes. I decided on three of the blues, a flat brush, some water and went to work on creating my striped background. Maybe I should have added some splatter to the background? What do you think?

I die cut the carnation frame twice and once in navy blue. The navy blue pieces were inset into my flower. Sentiment is from Gina K Designs Lacey Flowers.

This is the second card I made using the same concept but using a blue frame die cut.

I’me starting a collection of cards for troops and try to keep sentiments more general.

It’s 1 am and probably past the witching hour but when you cannot fall asleep why not make one more card for the Two Old Bats January 2022 Anything Halloween challenge. So that’s exactly what I did. I was inspired by the pumpkins on this month’s mood board so got out my Fiskars spring loaded scissor and began fussy cutting pumpkins from a piece of Gina K Designs Spooktacular You patterned paper pack. (This is the best scissors for fussy cutting especially when you are not a fan of fussy cutting.) After arranging my pumpkin pile and using some Glad Press n Seal to save the order of pumpkins, I got busy on my background layer. I began by blending some Distress Oxide inks in wilted violet, seedless preserves, dusty concord and black soot and then used Hero Arts woodgrain fancy cover die to complete this panel. The finishing touches were to white heat emboss my SSS Creepy Cute stamp set sentiment and give a few spritzes of Wilted Violet spray to the card.

Gina’s challenge for the January 2022 Monthly Mix Challenge is to use GKD inks and spritz with water to achieve a water reactive look. The inks I used on my cardstock were GKD’s Powder Blue, Lovely Lavender and Bubblegum with a little spritz of water, blotted with a paper towel and repeat gives a very cool look to the ink blended panel. The stamps used for this card are GKD’s Friendly Silhouettes and Garden Silhouettes for the sentiment. I needed to do some stamp surgery on the sentiment and took multiple times to line up using my Misti and acetate sheet.

This card is for an old truck driver friend of my husband who passed at the great age of 93. Happy trucking to Danny.

Today’s our youngest grandchild’s birthday and Alexandra is 4 years old. These cards were mailed to her so she would have some happy mail to open today at her home. I used Jennifer McGuire’s Window Pop Out card design and it was quite easy to put together. Of course, I needed to start and stop the YouTube video a number of times. The rectancles and candles, as well as the sentiment are Gina K Designs. The stenciled balloons are Taylored Expressions layering stencils.

Another fun fold card for Alexandra which will be hand delivered with her presents. She is a fan of PJ Masks and Owlette. The images were all internet freebies and the patterned paper was from my stash. This fun fold was also a Jennifer McGuire’s Easy Flip Cards.

My background was ink blended for an ombre blue look using Prize Ribbon, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks over my emboss resist image from GKD’s Holiday Tapestry. Sentiment is SSS Script Hello.

Brrr…..it’s cold outside and the January Winter challenge for The Four Seasons Challenge has a mood board that fits our temperatures to begin this month. I decided to focus on the icy red berries from the mood board for my card.

After stenciling some clouds using Pretty pink Posh’s cloud stencil, I added some snow using SSS Falling Snow Stencil and Taylored Expressions Glitter Happy Medium. My branch is Penny Black’s Nature’s Dance and Darice embossing folder completes this card for the challenge.

January Challenge with Peace On Earth has a very whimsical mood board. I decided to take a twist on Santa holding the snow globe by stamping Santa in the snow globe.

Using Melanie Muenchinger’s GKD Holiday Frame stamp set which was stamped on a patterned paper, I die cut the center. Stamping Rubber Stampede’s Santa Collage in kraft ink on white cardstock this became my flat shaker. What would a Santa be in a snow globe with not shaker stuff? Popped up the sentiment because it didn’t stamp properly after assembly completes this card.

I received a snow globe from Chase & Brooke for Christmas and someone, I’m not asking, over wound the music on the shaker and it almost took my finger off when turny thingy released some of the pressure. So this card may be for one of them next year. LOL.

The Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge for January’s mood board is a spooky one featuring purples and blacks. My Stamp Buddy Bonnie gifted me with some halloween stencils that she made and these fit in perfectly with the January mood board.

I sponged purple and black inks around my village, added GKD Glitz Glitter gel bats in black, SSS Layered Hills die and finally some Distress Oxide faded jeans spray to make my scene a little more spooky.

So much fun playing in this challenge each month. It gives me a reason to not put those Halloween supplies too far out of site.

Double D Challenges is celebrating their 6th birthday with a challenge to include party balloons.

My card is for my son in law and his 50th birthday the end of this month!!! WOW!!! Someone is getting old!! Perfect for the party balloon challenge at Double D Challenges. Their mood boards are always fun and filled with inspiration. My background is a free clip art background that I found online. I love those rainbow colors and design. The background was printed on glossy photo paper and trimmed down to fit my slimline card. I decided on the SSS Chunky Happy dies for my outside sentiment as well as a bunch of balloons from a Mama Elephant stamp and dies set. I do believe I may need to add a few more bunches of balloons inside the card to total that BIG 5 0 number for Chuck.

We had our first snow of the winter overnight. Three and a half inches is manageable and clearning went quickly so our reward was breakfast out today. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Take care and be safe.
