Once again Dad is looking for Nemo who’s hiding in some seagrass. The Forest Branches EF reminded me of waves, especially when embossed on Sea Glass CS. The sand and sentiment strip were cut from Kraft. The fish from Under the Sea by Theresa Momber for Gina K Designs were colored with Copics: YR04, YR07, B21, B23, B24, B28, C1. The sentiment is from the My Monthly Hero kit for January cut with the banner die that came in the kit. I edged the sentiment strip with Copic E43 to give it a little dimension. I was pondering how to create the sea grass. The sea grass from Under the Sea is lovely but was too intricate to fussy cut. I tried to hand cut some, but wasn’t satisfied with the result. Then in yesterday’s mail I got my order from Hero Arts that included the Watering Can and Fancy Flowers dies. The tulip leaves in the die set were perfect. I glued them together at the base. I put half of a dimensional on Nemo’s white stripe and one on his back and sandwiched him between the center leaf and the focal panel. The other fish I also attached with dimensionals. The sentiment strip was also attached with dimensionals. The focal panel is matted with Black Onyx, then placed on a Sea Glass card base. This was so much fun to make.

Easter Blessings

I’m getting a jump start on Easter cards. I stamped The Old Rugged Cross background stamps (Divinity Designs) in GKD Warm Glow Ink on Ivory CS, then cut with the largest Deckle Rectangle die from Pawsitively Pawsome  Designs, matted with Bubblegum Pink on a Grass Green card base. The flowers and sentiment are from the Daffodil set by Divinity Designs, cut with the matching die. Colored with Copics Y04, Y08, Y18, G24, G46, R81, R83. The vase was cut with a Marvy punch – this is the reverse side of one of the vases I cut a couple of weeks ago for Valentines when I cut the design upside down. Nice that the reverse side worked. I stamped a floral image from A Big Hello, part of the new kit by Gina K Designs, embossed in gold on cream. The butterfly is from the same set, embossed in Obsidian, then VersaMark, embossed with clear EP.  The sentiment, from Peaceful Florals by Gina K Designs is embossed in gold on cream. The sentiment panel and floral panel are matted in black on a cream card base. I wish you could see this IRL – the picture doesn’t do it justice.

Love is in the Air

I made a batch these cards to send to our Rainbow Girls who are in college – a little love note from home. The heart branch was stamped in Red Velvet. It is from the Birthday Blessings set that was part of the Birthday Essentials kit released by Gina K Designs in January 2015. The sentiment is from Geo Thanks, also by Gina K, released in January 2018. I used an old pack of Valentine patterned card stock by Martha Stewart to punch out the vase, which is an old Marvy punch that I’ve had forever. I had the vases almost all cut when I realized the hearts were upside down. Luckily it’s double sided, and the reverse isn’t specifically Valentine related, so it can be used for another project. I’m having fun with a lot of new stuff, but it’s fun to pull out some of my older stuff to play in the  Retro Rubber Challenge. Their current theme is “Love is the in Air” using Red, White and Pink.

Anchors Away

I knew just how I wanted to make this card for the As You See It Espresso Pronto Challenge – I just wasn’t sure I could get it done in 10 minutes. When I reread the instructions and realized I could gather my materials before I started the timer, I thought, well maybe. I already had some Sandy Beach card bases cut and scored, so that helped. I also had a scrap of Sandy Beach that was almost perfect for the focal image – okay now GO! The anchor and sentiment are from My Anchor by Gina K Designs, stamped in Warm Cocoa. I trimmed the scrap down just a bit. The brown gingham is from the Casual Friday PP, also by Gina K Designs, embossed with a nautical EF by Darice. I swiped Warm Cocoa across the gingham to make the embossing stand out a little more, then I trimmed it a little smaller than I intended – I had to go with it. I trimmed Warm Cocoa mats for the focal image and the pp. I was pressing the last layer to the card base when the timer on my phone went off – 10 minutes exactly. I would have liked more of the embossed PP to show since I’m also entering this in the Just Add Texture challenge at Gina K Designs, but the embossing is there and I’m gonna go with it. Always good to have another card in my stash of masculine cards.

Hearts and Flowers

I made several of these for the girls in our Rainbow Assembly to deliver to patients in a small memory care facility. The girls were supposed to assemble the pieces I had cut for them, but unfortunately the meeting was cancelled because of the weather. Since we would not have a meeting before they were to be delivered, I assembled them. The die cut hearts are by Spellbinders. I used the Petite Flourish background stamp by Gina K Designs stamped in Red Velvet ink on the scalloped heart. The sentiment is from Geo Thanks by Claire Brennan for Gina K. Designs. The roses are die cut from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit for January. They were cut from red cardstock and highlighted with white pigment ink and white pencil. Then I used green cardstock to cut the rosebud and the stem. I trimmed just the rosebud from the red cardstock and glued it over the rosebud cut with green cardstock. The rosebud coloring and assembly was inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s blog post and video here.  I am terrible at tying bows, even with a bow maker, so I used a mini bow die from Divinity Designs. I cut it with red cardstock and glued it together and it was the perfect size. Taking a large, thick needle, I punched a small hole at the top of the heart and used gold cord, also from Gina K Designs for a hanger. I had a lot of fun doing these and was really pleased with how they turned out. Hearts are really the thing right now and this works for these challenges:

This card is for the Retro Rubber Challenge #127. It is a tic-tac-toe challenge. I chose the one on the right with pattern paper, thanks, and nature.

I began with the patterned paper from my stash. This is Recollections from Michael’s. The stamp set used is Daisy Delight from Stampin Up, released in 2017. I used the Daisy punch along with the set. I know these have been in my room for over a year and this is the first time I have used them. The daisy paper is from the scrap bin, so I have no idea what color, but I am fairly sure it is SU paper. The leaves were stamped with Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus and Jelly Bean Green on SU Mossy Meadow Cardstock. That is the same cardstock as the base. I added a Kraft layer with Extra Heavy Kraft from The Paper Studio. The words Thank You are stamped in GKD Black Onyx ink on SU Naturals White paper. Thanks for looking.

Stamp sets used: Tropical Blooms, A Beautiful Life

The paper is Lawn Fawn, Gotta Have Gingham (retired). I added the black layer when it the frame looked odd on the blue background. The black made a difference. The card base is My Favorite Things card stock. I have a set of many colors and just flip through till I have a match.
