So fun to use two stamp sets from different companies with the same name. I used Gina K Designs and Lawn Fawn sets both called Stuck on You. The greeting came from SU Picture Perfect and the pink and blue sprigs came from GKD Handmade Botanicals. For ink colors, I used a combination. The pink ink is a Memento ink pad in Rose Red. The blue ink used for the ferns is a Tombow marker. I used Spectrum Noir markers for the blue and yellow on the pots. The succulent is stamped in Canteloupe ink by Memento. All of these colors were as close as I could come to the actual colors shown for the challenge.
I enjoyed creating this card today. It was enjoyable to play with color and try to get close matches to the ones needed.
This card will be in two places. It uses only dies, so it will be used for the August Challenge Your Stash card with Split Coast Stampers. I used the idea from Online Card Classes Crushing on Cardstock.
Inlaid Floral Hello
I have used inlaid die cutting on cards before, but not to this extent. I used the Fun Flower Slimline Panel Die from The Stamps of Life along with cardstock from TSOL. I think the blue is Sky, yellow is Banana, and the red is Strawberry, all from the Cardstock Set 2. The white came from a stash of scraps, but I am sure it is Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth White. The hello is a die from Gina K Designs. In the class in each lesson, it seems they are stacking the die for dimension, so mine is stacked with 2 layers of Strawberry CS and one layer of white. The last time I used inlaid die cutting, it was for a small butterfly, so this was a first for me. I have never used this floral die and gave the inlaid a try. Well, I lost one of the red pieces as it never cut, so I ended up with a white piece. I forgot to look for a matching marker to color the piece, so it is white. I like the card as it is colorful. I am sure the person who will receive this will not notice the bloom I lost.
I used the Elegant Asters set and Massive Messages Mini set both by Gina K Designs. The Water Droplets stencil is also GKD. I added Carta Bella Enamel Dots to the card for a splash of color.
Christmas in July is happening on many websites and video channels. I am joining with Gina K Designs Challenge and Shopping our Stash Weekly challenge with a poinsettia card.
I used Christmas Flower stamp and die set from Gina K Designs for this card. I layered the flower by stamping it 3 times and cutting layers from the flower and piecing them together with foam adhesive and glue dots. I added pearls to the center that I had colored with a gold gel marker.
While the cardstock was out for the CAS Colors & Sketches Challenge #426, I made another card. This will be entered in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Wednesday challenge.
I used the Floral Essence set and matching punch from Stampin Up. I also used the Tiny Textures set from Gina K Designs for texture on the flag and behind the flowers, but also for the greeting. I used all colors from the challenge and added gray as my neutral. This is an odd size card. I cut the stitched rectangles first and then the flag. It was all too large to fit on an A2 card so I made a 5 X 7 size card, but that was too much white space below the flag, so I trimmed it down. The finished card size is 5 X 6 or close to it. I will fit in a 5 X 7 envelope for mailing.
Today is the day to post cards for the Challenge Your Stash group at Split Coast Stampers. This month the challenge is to Make a project with a Tiger – or a wild cat of any sort: lion, puma, panther, cheetah–just not a domestic pet.
Birthday Lion
First of all, we are having stormy weather and sunshine is not in the forecast for several days. With that in mind, I did my best to get light with a daylight bulb and a few pieces of cardboard around the light. This card looks much better than the photograph will show, but you can see the blue and green.
I stenciled the clouds with a gifted stencil from a stamp buddy, using Lawn Fawn ink in a light blue color. I blended green ink on the ground then added grass with a darker green ink. The grass is from a Stampin Up set called Sending Sunshine; it is retiring on Wednesday so if you like it, get it now. The sun is from a Gina K Designs set called Own Kind of Beautiful; it is long ago retired. The regal lion comes from The Stamps of Life, lions2stamp with matching dies. I stamped the lion with Lawn Fawn and Gina K Designs ink in Kraft, Sandy Beach, Sunshine, and dark brown colors, then came back with Prismacolor pencils to add texture and the orange mane. I have never penciled on top of ink before, but it worked beautifully for the needed color. I chose a greeting from The Stamps of Life set and called the card finished.
The current challenge at Mod Squad is to keep your card with a simple focus, one image and no embellishments, or the card will be removed. I took this challenge and it was not as easy as it sounded.
This card was created using the set Friendship Blooms with was a collaboration of Hero Arts and Gina K Designs. I colored the images with Prismacolor Pencils and used Stampin’Up Crumb Cake cardstock. I heat embossed with GKD Detail White embossing powder.
I found this challenging as I wanted to add glitter to the flowers and possibly gems to draw the eye down the page better. But I left it alone.
Before this card I had worked on another card. This didn’t make the cut for the challenge.
KODAK Digital Still Camera
After I finished coloring this image, I thought it needed something else, so I added clear sparkle to the flowers. Then I added gems. So, I was ready to post and read the directions again and this one didn’t make the cut. I totally love the card and mailed it, so someone will be able to enjoy it and hopefully it will bring a smile to her face when she opens it.
MAR21VSNH Pop-Up Diorama! frontMAR21VSNH Pop-Up Diorama! Open
This card followed a tutorial. After following the tutorial, I kept thinking of easier ways to create. The tutorial showed a punch for cutting the circle and I used a die, as I do not own circle punches large enough. The box was assembled before placing the inside piece behind the circle. I think the inside could be place easier before closing the card. I struggled getting my piece in and ended up adding another piece to place the circle on to get it centered inside. The end is cute, but it was a struggle and I owned one piece of each paper being used.
I used the dragonfly2stamp from The Stamps of Life for the inside stamping and the front greeting. The dragonfly itself was fussy cut from patterned paper as I didn’t have the die that matched. The patterned paper is from Echo Park. The cardstock is SU.
MAR21VSNI Feed the Ducks
The hostess for this challenge has an autistic son who love to feed the ducks every day. It is part of his life to go the park, feed the ducks, geese, or any animal he calls a duck. I used the set Spring Has Sprung from Gina K Designs and Simple Celebrate from Lawn Fawn to stamp and create this card. The pattern paper is Echo Park and the cardstock is Balmy Blue by SU. I had fun coloring this card.
MAR21VSNJ Flowers and Memories
This card was created using flowers2layer from TSOL. I had the background stamped waiting to be used so I stamped the greeting strip and finished a flower and leaves to add to the front. It was quick to create.
MAR21VSNK Take a Ride
The idea for this challenge to show a form of transportation used at the park. I chose a bicycle. The stamps and dies are all from The Stamps of Life, bicycle2stamp and the grass die. I grabbed green colors from my stash and cut grass. The bicycle was stamp and cut waiting to be used. I did add the basket.
The main image is a woodblock stamp from Penny Black, Bees & Bunny, dated 2001. I colored it using alcohol markers like the sticker on the woodblock stamp. The greeting is illustrated by Claire Brennan, distributed by Gina K Designs, copyright 2017, Springtime Baskets. The patterned paper is Echo Park either a spring set or an Easter set; I have both and didn’t make a note telling me which set it came from.
I am entering this in the Retro Rubber Challenge of Anything Goes, Sweet Stampin’ Challenge Blog using a mood board, and Mod Squad Springtime Bunnies challenge.
