So Not Me

This card is so not my style. I planned it for a friend who likes unicorns and gave the set to me. It started with a Double D Challenge to show stitches and my coming across this piece of patterned paper that had stitches die cut into it. No clue where the die came from, as I didn’t know I had it, so it may be that I borrowed someone else’s and this is what was left after a project.

I used one Zig water color marker (pink), and some Chameleon markers I had. Added a bit of colored pencil in here and there, as well as some Sakura Stardust pens. Put some sparkle on the mane, tail, wings, and around the rainbow and clouds. (The sparkle, of course, does not show up in the picture.) Inked around my image, adhered the pp over the top and called it done. I’m not thrilled with it. Colored pencils are so much more my way of coloring. I am trying to use markers more. It is what it is.

Foiled Happy Birthday

I created a Slimline card today and played with my Spellbinders Hot Foil machine.

I created this card for the Misti challenge at Split Coast Stampers. I started with the die in the Hot Foil machine. It has a learning curve and I am still learning. My die is quite shiny as I kept placing my foil wrong side down, even with the manual and having watched videos. I also learned that I need to use thicker paper as it works better. After the foiling looked good, I proceeded to stamp the idea that I found with Jen Cards and her slimline series. I used the Wild Blossoms set by Gina K Designs. I used a block to stamp the vine as I struggled with the Misti when trying to extend the vine and get it to match. The block worked fine, so I then stamped blossoms all over the vine. I am happy with the finished card. There will be more foiled images soon as I am planning to continue to create.

I pulled out a Christmas set that I enjoy creating with, Festive Frame.

I embossed with Ranger gold embossing powder. I can’t remember the name of the cardstock, but I think it might be Charcoal Brown. I added a bit of color with a Tombow marker than added rhinestones to the center of the flowers. This is a simple card, but I know whoever received it will enjoy it.

Birthday Silhouette

I followed Cathy Zielske’s card idea, https://www.cathyzielske.com/2020/07/more-masking-ink-blending-and-silhouette-stamping-featuring-products-from-gina-k-designs/, and created this card. I used the stamps Scripty Sayings and Nurturing Blooms for the stamping. My ink colors are Jelly Bean Green, Lovely Lavendar, and Sea Glass. After adding my sentiment and embossing in gold, I felt my card needed a bit more gold. I used the Versamarker and embossed the outline. It is not perfect, but works.

I enjoyed creating this card. Thanks for a fun challenge!

July Monthly Mix Challenge

What’s almost as good as Christmas? Christmas in July with rainbows!! The challenge this month at Gina K Designs hosted by Sheri is Christmas in July. I pulled out my GKD Christmas stamps and found the Sentimental Sentiments StampTV kit using all of the snowflakes in this set stamped in versamark ink, white heat embossed with GKD’s fine detail white embossing powder, then pulled out my inks all GKD with an exception of the yellow which is a combination of GKD and a TH Distress ink and applied rainbow order ink over this slimline card. The image is from GKD’s Snow One Like You and the coordinating Silhouette cut file. Die cut sentiment and shadow as well as the cheer sentiment are from the same StampTV kit. I was going to use the small “merry” sentiment but somehow it got lost in my messy desk. My lower left corner got a little funky not sure if it was the versamark, not heat set properly but probably due to human error :).

But right now it’s back to work…Will is on a mission of different projects and I have been pulled in as his assistant. It is so very hot with not much relief in site so I was a little cranky today…..but…..to my surprise I just received a delivery of 6 Christmas Edge-Ables dies and can’t wait to play with them. So excited! Crankiness appeased!

Boot Girl

The little girls is getting her moves on. I found the best paper in an Carta Bella paper pack where the woodgrain makes a dance floor with the floral being the wallpaper. She in dressed in all pink tones to match the paper. The set used is Stampendous Boots Kiddo. I have had it for a few years purchased off the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby. I looked on Stampendous blog and found this was released in 2013. She is on a wooden block, so that helps with the age of the stamp. This was fun to create!

Scooter Vrooming

I created a card using a Gerda Steiner Designs stamp and had a lot of fun with it.

This card was created with a song in mind, “Born to be Wild”, from the Splitcoast Stampers Virtual Stamp Night challenges. The challenge was to select a song from the 1968 top 40 playlist and I chose a song with an image that came to mind. I do not own any motorcycle images, so I went with the next best thing of a scooter. I scoured the GSD-Stamps blog with design ideas used by the design team and it placed many ideas in my head. I decided on paper piecing for the scooter and pulled out SU colors from the 2018-2020 In Color cardstock and designer paper. Everything not paper pieced was colored with alcohol markers.

It has been a long time since I have stamped this image and colored it. It was such a fun card to create!

Welcome, Bailey!

A girlfriend has finally gotten a puppy. She has been hoping for one for years and her husband finally said yes! Bailey is a Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a mini Poodle mix). We haven’t met her yet but her name is from It’s A Wonderful Life and George Bailey because according to my girlfriend if you have a dog it is a wonderful life. She’s very happy and her husband is trying not to admit that he’s enjoying puppy’s company too.

So my card is a Quarter Fold Card using the tutorial from Lisa’s Stamp Studio. My puppy and paw paper were both found on line free sheets (search the web and thanks to Buddy Gerry) printed and cut to size for the panels. My puppy is an older Inkadinkadoo stamp set, Welcome sentiment is GKD’s It’s the Little Things and banner and Bailey were from Microsoft Word, Spellbinders nestabilities used to hold the card closed.
