Fall Leaves

Our weather is changing with cooler evenings making it feel like Fall. Since it is feeling like Fall, I made a card with leaves.

I used the Stampin’Up retired set called Blended Seasons for the leaves. I moved the image several times in my MISTI to have leaves all over the background. I used watercolor paper and embossed the leaves in gold to capture the water and color. The color palette is from Splitcoast Stampers CC912: Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry, and Garden Green. To make the color more intense, I used reinkers for Poppy Parade and Crushed Curry. I do not own a green one, so came back with a marker to give it more color.

The Hello is a die from Gina K Designs which came in a butterfly stencil kit. I chose to use the Early Expresso color to cut the word Hello and Vellum for the shadow.

I really like how this card came out. I enjoy watercolor in how quickly you can achieve vibrant color on the image.

Fall Leaves

The Four Seasons Challenge

September begins the Fall Season with The Four Seasons Challenge blog. My card today will be entered into their September Anything Fall challenge. The inspiration mood board is filled with gorgeous, rich fall colors.

I decided to go with Taylored Expressions Four Seasons Stamp & Stencil combo set to create my fall background. Using SimonSaysStamp’s Gingham Plaid stamped in Gina K Designs Honey Mustard on Honey Mustard cardstock made a very subtle background for my leaf pattern that was layered using Waffle Flower’s A2 Lazy Layering Dies. This set is never far from my reach on my desk. I added a stamped and die cut Taylored Expressions On Occasion sentiment and mounted in on a half circle of vellum.

Gorgeous mood board for inspiration. I’m hopeful that the leaves on our trees will turn these gorgeous colors too.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Time Does!

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge #9

Fly! Too quickly! The challenge with Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge is Time Flies with the dragonfly option. Of course, I generally focus on the option first then attempt to make my card. The background uses a Texture Fades Tim Holtz/Sizzix embossing folder Retro Circles using some purple ink to highlight the raised embossed portions of this panel. My time clock is an image from Gina K Designs stamp set “Time”. After stamping and clear heat embossing on vellum, I fussy cut the time piece and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set and die cut it. I tucked in my dragonfly dies to complete this card.

Thanks so much for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Plaid Birthday

I thought a while on the Navy and Lime Green colors for the Color Hues challenge, knowing I needed to turn it into a birthday card for the Seize the Birthday challenge. These are not colors I generally mix, but I finally found a way to mix them.

https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/09/color-hues-48-and-our-2nd-birthday.html http://seizethebirthday.blogspot.com/2022/09/seize-birthday-246-collaboration-with.html

The plaid background was created with a plaid stencil from Newton’s Nook. I inked it with GKD Key Lime ink, then flipped the stencil and inked it again with GKD In the Navy ink. It made an interesting background. Next I die cut the Big Happy Birthday die from Lawn Fawn three times with this very bright green cardstock from Hobby Lobby. It is close to the Key Lime color I used for the ink. I paired this green with a navy cardstock also from Hobby Lobby. I think this will make a nice masculine card to add to my stash, however, if a women loves green, this would work her as well.

Reindeer Tag Square Card

I have been using items that have been in my stash for a long time. I often forget what I own until a challenge inspires me. I was inspired by a theme to create a card for a classic Christmas movie, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. With that theme, out came a few reindeer dies.

https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2022/08/challenge-190-tag-youre-it.html https://peaceonearthchristmas.blogspot.com/2022/09/peace-on-earth-christmas-challenge-23.html https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-98/

I love the Retro Rubber Challenge as it helps me use my stash of older supplies. This reindeer is a Stephanie Bernard and Sizzix set from October 2017. That was the closest date I could come up with based on a Google search. The tag dies used are from Hero Arts and also a Spellbinders die. All are several years old and are retired. I have been using the scraps from Echo Park Celebrate Christmas released in 2018, per my search. If you like the paper, it is still available.

The Peace on Earth Christmas challenge is always Anything Goes, but on the mood board is a red pillow with snowflakes. My Kraft patterned paper with the red greeting and snowflakes reminds me of that pillow.

Simon Says Stamp has an Anything Goes. I will add it to that challenge as well.

Thanks for sharing in this card today.

Colorful Options – September 2022

Just Add Ink #619 – Masculine

Beautiful Brown is the color for the September challenge with Colorful Options blog. This card will also fit the Just Add Ink #619 Masculine challenge. My card for this challenge includes SimonSaysStamps’ Wood Planks background stamp, word and circle dies, vellum, a strip of woodgrain that I made using my scoreboard and a rocky background that was found on line and of course brown ink and cardstock. The stamped You Rock is Gina K Designs’ DinoMite and the wishes was a misplaced stamp that was on my desk 🙂

Love the inspiration mood board and of course there is always the rainbow option but I kind of like the browns.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Batty Envelope Treat Bag

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge

The September Anything Halloween challenge with the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge and the mood board for inspiration was a stumper for me this month. I did a cat on last month’s challenge and I didn’t care to repeat the llamas so my focus turned to the bat favors. After spending some time surfing and looking for ideas on YouTube and Pinterest, I found a video from Creative Chelsey who made treat bags from A2 envelopes. A cute idea and it worked out pretty well. The bottom of the envelope was sponged using Hero Arts inks and some TH Black Soot, the bats are from a SimonSaysStamp mini stencil and my stamped image is Stampendous Fluffles Vamp, patterned paper and ribbon from my stash.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Birthday Stripes

Hello and welcome. Hope you’re having a fun Labor Day weekend.

Today’s card is for our grandson-in-law. While perusing Pinterest for an idea I saw this design and thought ‘that’s it’. Card base is Night of Navy cs. CS strips are 1/4″. Sentiment is from Gina K’s Birthday Blessings set stamped in Night of Navy. I also added strips to the inside. Very simple but I think he’ll like it.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Have a great day and stay healthy & safe.

Sweet Tea

Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #9

Thanks to Angie for recommending a new challenge: All things Caffeinated, Christmas and Challenge theme. The theme for challenge #9 is Candy or Cookie. Those two items I understand! I went searching for any coffee/tea stamps in my stash and remembered Melanie Muechinger’s stamp set she illustrated for Gina K Designs in 2010. My cookie feature is the gingerbread man from SimonSaysStamp Christmas Squad which I believe was a free item or a clearance item. After stamping the gingerbread man on the coffee mug and coloring them both, I die cut the images using circle dies. The sweet patterned paper is from my stash and the sentiment is from the same SSS Christmas Squad set.

It was a fun, different challenge to join in. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and it’s ok if the west coast doesn’t share their extremely high, record breaking weather with me in Pennsylvania.
