Wall of Succulents

I have been wanting to create with my newest succulent dies for a few weeks. Today I was inspired!

https://cyhtp.blogspot.com/2022/05/anything-goes-embossing-with-twist-of.html

The succulents are made with Lawn Fawn plant-a-succulent die set. I made these over the last several weeks and they were sitting in an bowl waiting to be used. I needed the slimline size to fit the three groupings with different faces together. This means my brick embossing folder would not fit, so I had to run it through 2 times trying to line up the bricks. I was close but the recipient will not notice. The greeting came from a Power Poppy set called Sassy Succulents. I placed a strip of Kraft between the bricks and the sky. I like this card. I am considering sending this as a birthday/retirement card.

Floral Anniversary

I have been coloring the Stippled Flowers set from Gina K Designs over the last few days. My Versamark Pad was looking quite ugly, like it was growing mold, so it went to the trash. I realized I owned a mini pad, so I used it for a few flowers, then ordered a large pad. I received my new Watermark Pad from Hero Arts yesterday, so I was back in business creating more flowers.

The Retro Rubber Challenge is all about using florals. The Stippled Flower set was released in 2018 and I purchased it immediately. I really enjoy these flowers and the words in the set.

The Just Add Ink Challenge is a color challenge. The colors are Mint Macoron, Blushing Bride, and Rich Razzleberry all Stampin Up colors. Since I own all of the colors, I used them to color the leaves and flowers. I also used a layer of Rich Razzleberry for a mat behind the focal image and the Blushing Bride for the card base. The flowers were all watercolored with the reinkers.

Gina K Designs Monthly Mix challenge is to use an image, a die cut, and a sentiment. I chose to die cut my colored images and added the sentiment. All are from the same Stippled Flowers set. I did stamp the largest flower in a light grey ink to add a bit of shadow behind the colored images. I chose the Anniversary greeting as I think I will send this to my sister and her husband for their upcoming anniversary. I added a few sequins and called it complete.

Mermaid Shell-phone DA

I got inspired by Buddies Gayle and Johanna to create with a mermaid, so off to the Dragonfly Creative Challenge to give this a try.

https://paperdragonflycreativechallenges.blogspot.com/2022/05/challenge-5-mermaids-sponsored-by.html

My mermaid is from Your Next Stamp. The shells are from the same set. The waves were created using a stencil from A Colorful Life. The dragonflies are flying out from behind the shells as they like to hang out there. They are from a Hero Arts/Sizzix stamp and die set. Fun challenge! I enjoyed creating the card.

Floral Note

I chose to create with the color pallet from The Paper Players, Fresh Freesia, Granny Apple Green, and Night of Navy.

I used Spellbinders Glimmer Plates in this card. The flower is a peony illustrated by Yana Smakula. The greeting is also a Glimmer Plate. I used Hammermill paper for the Glimmer as it usually works well. When I used my Glimmer machine, I spend quite a bit of time and all I do is make Glimmer pieces and then let them sit until I want to use them. Today was a day to use a few of the pieces.

I took out the ink pads that match the colors in the challenge. I watercolored the peony using a water brush. I added a few gems and called it complete. It has a lot more shimmer in real life as I am not a great photographer with foil.

Thanks for spending time with me. I enjoyed the challenge.

Pastel Embossing

I decided to emboss flowers today.

I chose the Country Floral embossing folder by Stampin Up to emboss and color. It is a 3D folder so it has a lot of dimension. I embossed on Ranger Watercolor Paper, then proceeded to add color. I used Gina K Designs ink with a blender brush. I did come back and add a bit more color with pencils taking the pigment directly from the pencil with water. I chose a sentiment from Stippled Flowers from Gina K Designs. I added a bit of ribbon and a few gems.

I found my inspiration for the colors by searching the folder on Google. I found a SU demonstrator who shared exactly which colors she used and the card recipe. Her name is Cindy. Thank you Cindy for the inspiration and helpful blog post.

Talking Birds

https://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2022/05/birdsbird-nestsbird-cagesbirdhouses.html

I used a Paper Pumpkin kit for the patterned paper and flowers. I placed a stencil over the pp and added the vines. The stencil is from A Colorful Life. The bird dies and branch are from a Memento set. I used Peacock ink and cardstock which matches the color on the pp. The light green is Mint Macoron and the peach is from Hobby Lobby. It is a close match to the flowers. The greeting and “meep” are from a Paper Smooches set.

As I created this card, I listened to the birds singing outside. I love birds and this was a fun challenge.

Flowery Umbrella

I created a card for the Retro Rubber Challenge as well as the Sisterhood of Crafters. I had an idea in my head for a couple of days and today it fell into place.

https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2022/04/april-showers-bring-may-flowers.html https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2022/04/challenge-181-tics-tacs-toes.html

I used SU Umbrella to Stamp from 2020 for the stamping. The patterned paper is Carte Bella Flower Market with a date of 2019 on the back. The scallop square is a Sizzix die and the stitching is an Only Die from The Stamps of Life. I placed the items on the square, then decided something was missing, so off the items came. Then I ran the scallop square through the die cutting machine again to add the stitching. Sometimes it is nice to have so many dies to choose from and have the perfect one waiting to be used. I think this is the first time I have used this Only die. Without that die, I would have placed a rubber mat on the stitching die so it wouldn’t cut through. The gems are SU very retired, but the color worked. I think there is one pearl left in the pack of that yellow color.

The Retro Rubber Challenge is a tic tac toe and I used the far right column: patterned paper, bling, ribbon or twine.

The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge is April Showers bring May Flowers. That is where the umbrella with the boots came to mind. I filled both with flowers. The umbrella was punched with the matching punch. Both were fun challenges and it was fun to combine them.

Blue Bouquet

I had time to create a card for the As You See It Challenge. I will also apply this to the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Wednesday challenge.

http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com/2022/04/273.html
https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-94/

I used a Simon Says Stamp image Beautiful Flowers, which I watercolored with Gina K Designs Blue Raspberry and Powder Blue. I stamped with Versamark and In the Navy Ink, embossing with clear powder. After the ink dried, I cut the paper down to fit on these pieces of cardstock. I began with slimline dies, but ended up cutting them down a bit, so the cardbase ended up being 8 1/4 inches long. The base is SU Night of Navy cardstock, with layers of Pacific Point and Balmy Blue. I am sure I have those exact colors in two of the inks and most in colored pencils, but my GKD inks were handy and they worked well. The slimline dies used were Picket Fence Studio.

Bubble Wrap Birthday Card

I made a card using a video idea from Gina K Designs with bubble wrap.

https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-94/

I used a Lawn Fawn set called Flutter By for the butterflies. The greeting came from a Unity set illustrated by Gracielle Designs. The background is bubble wrap stamped in Polished Pink.

This card was originally created for the Challenge Your Stash challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. We always upload our cards on the 28th of the month. The challenge was to make something for Earth Day thinking of things that make our Earth beautiful. I love butterflies and Gina K had the perfect video for inspiration. I redeemed my bubble wrap from heading to the trash and using it.

It will be going to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge as it is an Anything Goes challenge.
