Narwhal and a Rainbow

The Sisterhood Of Crafters – Kids Cards

I have had this Picture Book Jumping Whale die from SSS on my desk for quite awhile so I figured it was time to put it to use. So our granddaughter has been talking about narwhals which may be the new unicorn to her age group so I decided to create this little ‘miss you’ card for her. My rainbow was created using a Lawn Fawn die and the colors are backwards but I after cutting the die with colored cardstock these were the leftover pieces. (and still have 4 more rainbows in random order to create) My clouds are My Favorite Things Die-namics die cut from glitter paper and I also used Corcord & 9th’s double cut alphabet dies cut from SSS rainbow paper. My go to cloud stencil created the soft background. So rainbows, narwhals, glittery fun are definitely a Brooke card. No stamps used on this card today just a lot of love.

Feather Napkin

Just Us Girls Word Week #530

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to fit any challenges in this week since I just completed my Easter and Spring cards and they are heading for the mailbox tomorrow. But I did complete the challenge for the Feathers Word Week from Just Us Girls Challenge. So feathers are not really my thing but I received a beautiful card from Johanna using the corner fold card and a napkin recently and Golda also posted a card on her blog with a napkin. My Easter napkins actually had a feather on it so this is what I created and the third time was the charm ( lots of scraps for me to play with after this project). GKD cardstock and patterned paper and the sentiment is from The Northwoods by Theresa Momber. Inside of the fold, I stamped a feather from GKD’s Vintage Chic stamp set. I found a message for the inside that reads “Feathers are reminders that Angels are always near”. This card is going to a cousin who lost her husband a few months ago.

Easter Buckle Fold

MIUCB#36
Buckle Card Open

Playing along with a new to me challenge the Mix It Up Challenge Blog which is a monthly Anything Goes with an optional twist. This month’s twist is a Fancy Fold card. I found this buckle fold card on Lisa Curcio’s Blog. The stamps I used for my card are a combination of CC Designs Easter Funnies and SU’s Miracle of Spring and Heaven Blessed stamp sets. Patterned paper is from GKD.

Bunny Blessings

ModSquadChallenge – Spring has Sprung
GKD April Monthly Mix Challenge

This the season of spring and challenge themes, too. So my card will fit both the Gina K Designs April Monthly Mix Challenge hosted by Mindy Eggen and the ModSquad Challenge Spring has Sprung challenge hosted by Judy with GKD as the challenge sponsor. Yes I know there is that SSS Oval of Flowers stencil again sponged in a yellow ink and some shine added to it by my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen. The bunnies and sentiment are from GKD stamp set Basket Blessings illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger. The dots under the bunnies is a die from Impression Obsession.

Banners and Dies

DRU Challenge #142
Double D Challenge – Banners

I’m spending the day in my stamping space, working on challenges and attempting to finish Easter cards. I’m not quite sure how cohesive this card is but the more I look at it; I do believe it is growing on me. So the first challenge is the Dies R Us Challenge #142 – Anything Goes Using Any Brand of Die DRU Sells. For this challenge I pulled out my Impression Obsession Die 264-ZZ. For such a detailed die, this cuts beautifully. I layered this die 3 times and then backed it with some glitter paper. (I ran out of white which was my preferred choice so used silver) I also used a Tim Holtz Sizzix Celebrate word die that was cut out on some rainbow patterned paper from SSS.

The Double “D” Challenge is a Banner Challenge. To meet the challenge guidelines I decided on my Pretty Pink Posh Layered Party set of stencils using the Banner stencil. The banners were first rainbow sponged and the second layer of banners were created by using Nuvo Moonstone glimmer paste.

Spring Twist

Sunday Stamps SSC227
AAA Cards CAS Game #162

My card today will be entered into the Sunday Stamps SSC227 Spring Fever color challenge. The three colors I chose from graphic are hopefully close to the challenge colors. My base card and focal image layer are my “crumb cake” color, the stencil was sponged in SSS Orange Peel for the bright orange color on the graphic and the dark color is a GKD navy.

The requirements for AAA Cards clean and simple challenge #162 was to be made in minutes with an optional twist of using a stencil. For some reason it takes longer to find all of the items for a project than to create. This did come together very quickly and the stencil is a SSS stencil. The stamp sets were both SU’s Crosses of Hope and Miracle of Spring. It was quite a miracle that I eye-balled that sentiment that it fit perfectly in the space. That does not happen all too often in my case.

Spring Butterflies

The Paper Players PP484
The Sisterhood of Crafters – Spring

The Paper Players have a Tic Tac Toe Challenge from Joanne this week and I chose the center row of rhinestones, spring and butterflies. And the Sisterhood of Crafters’ challenge by Darlene is SPRING. So to me I definitely wanted some soft colors and butterflies just because it makes me happy and so does spring! My butterflies and dies are Pretty Pink Posh’s Beautiful Butterflies and the sentiment is from Gina K Designs Happy Spring stamp set. I also use Spellbinders Inverted Scalloped classic square die set. I put a rhinestone “tail” on one of my butterflies to complete my Tic Tac Toe.

Bunny Whimsy

As You See It Challenge #222

The As You See It Challenge is a recipe which needs to include Flowers, Die cut or Punch, Ribbon or Twine, Something Shiny and Patterned Paper. My rule of the day is to read all of the instructions and check them off before gluing to card front. My card includes a Sweet n Sassy Benjamin Bunny with a flower pot (check), butterflies punch and mat under sentiment – shiny gold cardstock and punch (check, check), patterned paper….where is the patterned paper? I originally found some really really cute ribbon with carrots on it and made that my panel, taped everything down and realized NO patterned paper. Disassembled card front carefully except for the upper corner with received another shiny butterfly. Added my flower patterned paper from GKD’s Bold & Blooming paper pack and re-assembled my card. (check). The ribbon is now the bow on bunny (check) . I do think I completed the recipe for whimsy. The butterfly punches are Martha Stewart, Key Lime cardstock, patterned paper and ribbon are all GKD. The gold mirror paper was a find at my Michael’s and the egg embossing folder is from Darice.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day. Stay Safe.

Golden Tulips

Just Us Girl #529 Photo Week

I’m really enjoying my Simon Says Stamp layered tulips stencil. So today’s card is for the Just Us Girls #529 Photo Week inspiration of:

I inked my layered tulips with Distress Ink Scattered Straw and the stems and leaves with GKD Key Lime and Fresh Asparagus, then added some sparkle with my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss pen made by cloud background with my go to cloud stencil by our Buddy Bonnie and stamped the little dragonflies from GKD’s Spring Blessing set.

I do believe I could use a better “yellow” ink pad and am open for helpful suggestions. Thanks for looking.
