Gatefold Christmas cards that I created following Jennifer McGuire’s Surprise Gate Fold Cards. Of course Jennifer’s cards are more elaborate than mine but I do like this concept and how they turned out. The poinsettia card outside folds were sponged using a Tim Holtz stencil, the star card uses patterned paper and the ornament card has dry embossed panels.
Primarily you need a decorative die and the outline matching die with the decorative die on the outside of the gatefold and the outline die is behind the outside die with a message which leaves the inside of the card for a personal handwritten message. I think I may add “something” maybe a light stamped image or light stenciling inside, too. These were fun to make. I hope someone comes out with a large snowflake die and outline.
These are beautiful! Love the ideas!
Thanks so much Diana. I had fun creating these.
I saw she was doing those but I must say I like your better, because they are so clean and carry the spirit of the season!
Oh you are sweet. Thanks Bonnie for the vote of support.
Beautiful cards! I agree with Bonnie, in the clean and spirit filled design. I didn’t watch JM, but would follow your idea.
Thanks, Lisa, I wasn’t sure at first what to do with the side panels but I wanted to keep the focus on the dies cuts.
Great cards
Thanks so much for commenting. I appreciate it.
Beautiful, Gayle! Yours are perfect!!
Thanks, Jan, I enjoyed making these.
Oh, these are wonderful! Great job on them. I love the beautiful backgrounds you created for the first two, as well.
Thanks, Golda, I liked the way the stenciling turned out on the poinsettia card.
These all came out great! Love the twist on the gatefold design and the way you decorated your card fronts.
Thanks so much for your support, Lisa.
These are all beautiful Gayle!! The red & gold ornament is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks, Gerry, that is definitely a well used die set.
These are super Gayle. Very festive with a different overall look than a normal card. Love them all but am particularly partial to the star.
