Greetings

Just Us Girls Challenge #604

Love these Halloween challenges! It’s a great way to help finish my cards. For today’s card, I stamped, stenciled, ink blended, dry embossed and heat embossed a variety of my stash. It was a variety of stamp sets for the greetings like Simon Says Stamp’s Happy Haunting, a set from Recollections Halloween, bat stencil. This was fun to make and I should have noted all of the stamps and items used before losing them on my desk!!

This card will be entered into the Word Week – Halloween challenge at Just Us Girls.

Hard to believe that it is October but not so hard to believe that I have tons of card to make.

Have a great October day and stay safe. Thanks for stopping in for a peek.

sunflower plaid

Make the Cards Challenge #35

The challenge with the Make the Cards Challenge blog #35 is Country Life + Buffalo Plaid. So for today’s card, I decided that my sunflower will represent my country life and created not quite buffalo plaid stenciled background in blue to enter my card into this challenge.

Using Taylored Expressions Wheatfield Dreams stamp set and coordinating die, I colored the sun flower with markers and colored pencils mounting it on a vellum oval die cut from classic Spellbinders oval nestabilities. The plaid stencil is also from Taylored Expressions and was inked in GKD’s powder blue and navy inks. The sentiment which was gold heat embossed is GKD’s Skeleton Leaves.

Fun challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Hope everyone had a great day. Stay Safe.

ModSquad Challenge: Butterflies

I just saw that the theme for the ModSquad Challenge is one of butterflies. How could I resist! My bright and cheery card uses the stencil from the April My monthly Hero kit Geometric Rotating Stencil and soft landscape window fancy die which was an add on to this kit. My butterfly was die cut from a complimentary green base with a light yellow detailed die using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Detailed Butterflies die set.

I will leave the message for the inside as I didn’t feel anything more was needed on the front.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek and stay safe.

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge – September Anything Halloween

One more card for the September Anything Halloween challenge with Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge. My card was made using Picket Fence Spider Web Cover Plate die, Distress Oxide Halloween spray colors, and Hampton Arts Zombie Eyes stencil. This is a very cool cover stencil and I had fun making an inky mess with the DO sprays then decided it needed more and added the zombie eyes with some Gina K glitter glitz paste and some shimmer spray to top it off.

With spider webs being create everywhere outside and sometimes inside too, I was focusing on the spider in the inspiration board. There really is nothing worse than walking into one of those webs. Always walk around the pole and tree so you are not taken by surprise!

Have a wonderful day. Thanks for stopping in for a peek and stay safe.

Stencil It

The Sisterhood Of Crafters – Stencil

Gina K had a recent YouTube video “Fun with Stencils – Easy Technique” and it was easy to follow along and my card includes 5 different stencils. Using masking paper cut into 1/4″ strips, I masked off the border then thin washi tape to create my angled sections and ready to stencil. (post it notes definitely required….at least for me)

The stencils I used were GKD’s Square Mandala, Leafy Stencil, Harvest Flourish, Taylored Expressions Play the Angle and Hero Arts Sun Background. The word die is SSS Script Hello and Martha Stewart triple butterfly punch completed my card.

This card will be entered into The Sisterhood of Crafters – Stencil challenge.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe.

Fall Colors Challenge

Just Us Girls Challenge #602

When a color challenge is for Red, Orange and Yellow, it definitely makes me think of fall colors. So for my card for the Just Us Girls Challenge #602 – Color Week, I pulled out some Distress Oxide Inks in Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed. After blending my background and cutting down my focal layer, I stamped the image from GKD’s Autumn Silhouettes in VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and yes I got inky fingerprints on my panel. GRRRRR…..you think i would learn. I did heat emboss the DO ink to help the drying and also the VersaFine Clair but did I check my fingers? NO! Finally got the image with no inky fingerprints to my liking and using hand sanitizer before touching anything. Sentiment is from GKD’s Thankful For You stamp set. I thought I needed more color so using GKD’s sweet corn cardstock and SSS’s 3D Fall Foliage embossing folder seemed to do the trick for me. I lightly blended the same DO inks over the raised parts of the embossing folder.

Fun challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Have a great day and stay safe.

Fall colors

The Paper Players PP559

Did you every have that one idea in your head for a card and no matter what you tried it just didn’t seem to make like you envisioned? Well, my first card (A) is the last of three I made for The Paper Players – Clean and Simple Challenge from Claire with a theme of Fall Fun. After gold heat embossing the Fall Colors sentiment from an older Inkadinkadoo stamp sent, I then used the SSS leaf stencil and several colors of Distress Oxide ink to complete the card. Layered it on a blue and adhered to the kraft card base. Hmmmm!!!!

Here are cards B & C:

Card B
Card C

The same colors of Distress Oxide inks were used on cards A & B. Card C I stayed with the orange, yellow, green shades. Card B is on black cardstock and after inking with the distress inks, I shifted the stencil slightly and added white pigment ink. It has a blurry look to me so maybe I should have did the white pigment then the color. At the end I just sprayed all three with my perfect pearls/water mixture and added to card bases. What do you think? Maybe they will grow on me. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Rain tomorrow so hopefully I can spend more time making cards.

Falling Leaves

Double D Challenges: LEAVES

Fall is almost in the air! It was a little brisk for our morning walk today but heated up again so summer can continue a few more days. In the meantime, the Leaves challenge mood board at Double D has helped me create my card.

My recipe for today’s card is: Simon Says Stamp’s large Stitched Maple Leaf Die cut from a piece of plaid printed paper and a inked/stenciled background I had on my desk for awhile. GKD’s Autumn Wreath Builder and Autumn Splendor stamp sets. TCW Skeletal Leaf Stencil, AALL&Create Dote on Diamonds stencil, Tim Holtz Idea-ology mummy cloth, Denami Designs seal brown 1/4″ ribbon and some GKD kraft and powder blue inks.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Have a great day and stay safe!

Girlfriend Hugs

AAA Cards Game #199

CAS Game #199 at the AAA Cards challenge is No Layers + optional twist Hugs. Who doesn’t like hugs? CAS and no layers is a little more difficult for me. This was my third attempt to create this girlfriend card.

After stamping my image in VersaFine Clair nocturne black ink, I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I really need to remember that this ink stays very wet which is why this is my third attempt….inky fingers make inky marks!! Anyway it is easier for me to color when I heat emboss my images so all is good. After coloring in my girlfriends with a variety of markers and pencils, I added the sentiment across their feet. It was just too funny to put in the inside of the card. My girlfriends and I are making plans that if we need to be put into a “home” away from home we need adjoining rooms.

My stamp set is Art Impressions “Live Laugh Love”. It’s really great that AI gives you colored images on their packaging.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek and stay safe.
