Day 5 Homework

Gina K Designs Better Together, Scripty Encouragement, Lots of Dots Instructor – Laura Bassen

Spring CardCamp 2022’s Day 5 lesson is to create a wreath without using a wreath builder template by measuring and marking lines in pencil. The concept works like GKD’s wreath builder which I prefer because my pencil lines are still visible to my eye!! Not thrilled with this one and definitely which I would not have added the circles in black! Oh well it was fun to try but I definitely prefer a wreath that is already designed.

Day 4 Homework

Stampin Up Polka Dot background stamp, Taylored Expressions Squeeze the Day layering stencil and stamp combo, versamark, clear embossing powder Instructor – Heather Hoffman

SimonSaysStamp Party Balloons background stamp, SSS, Large Happy Birthday die, Midnight Blue and Peacock Green Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder, gel press Instructor – Mindy Eggen

Spring CardCamp 2022’s Day 4 homework is all about emboss resist with twists. The concept is to stamp a background stamp in either clear or white embossing powder and with the top card use a layering stencil for the design. The second card’s twist was white heat embossed background stamp, using pixie powder or other similar product on gel press, activate with water and place the embossed panel on the gel press to pick up the color and shine.

Day 3 Homework

Taylored Expressions Botanical Beauty Edger Stamp, Distress Oxide Inks, Bonnie Sentiment Strip, versamark, gold embossing powder

My dog ate my homework and I needed to start over! Wait, I don’t have a dog and I can’t even blame it on the cat either. LOL….I’ve fallen a little behind with the Spring CardCamp 2022 lessons but hopefully will catch up with a little cramming.

Day 3 hosted by Kristina Werner was Gel Press Cards and getting 2-For-1 Inked backgrounds and even a 3rd one. The above card came off the gel press and the one below was made by rolling off the ink on my brayer on another piece of cardstock. I did have a 3rd background after spraying the gel press with water, letting it dry, then adding some more ink over a stencil but it wasn’t my favorite so I’ll be saving that until I decide what I want to do with it. Maybe spray it with more water!!! I may be a little heavy handed with both the ink and the brayer but all in all it was a fun project.

Darice embossing Folder, SimonSaysStamp Square Dance Stencil, Unity Deco Foil Adhesive Transfer Sentiment

After running the embossing folder through my Big Shot, I swiped on a little Distress Oxide ink to the tree would be visible.

Tiny Mosiac Flower

Can You Handle the Pressure Challenge

Anything goes with an embossing folder + adding the flower twist is the new challenge at Can You Handle The Pressure blog.

My card includes a rectangle and Spellbinder’s classic circles nestabilities embossed using the Cuttlebug Tiny Mosiacs embossing folder. The card base is ivory as are the layering pieces for the two embossed pieces. My flower twist uses a piece of patterned paper from my stash. Those cute little white flowers and the pop of orange and blue seemed just what this card needed for a little more interest in the otherwise neutral colors. The sentiment stamped in brown ink is Taylored Expressions On Occasion stamp set with matching die. And just for good measure and another pop of color I decided to die cut a petal from an unbranded die. Just what is a flower without it’s petals or in this case it’s leaf?

Day 2 Homework

Joseph’s Coat technique with stencils hosted by Cathy Zielske

Spring CardCamp 2022 Day 2’s lesson was using the Joseph’s Coat technique with a stencil. This is a great technique and creates a dramatic image. I’ve done a few cards using this after Gina K included this technique on one of her YouTube videos. Today’s card includes Distress Oxide inks in Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Black soot. Hero Florals Stamp & Cut sentiment and lady bug, and the stencil is a Waverly Floral Ornate stencil which I believe I purchase at my local Hobby Lobby.

My second card is a twist on the Joseph’s Coat hosted by Jessica Frost-Ballas and challenged me to used layering stencils, ink one layer, clean off, then replace and ink with versamark and clear embossing powder, repeat for all layers. I think this may have worked better with a layering stencil that does not overlap the other layers image but I think it still turned out pretty cool.

Gina K Designs Ocean Mist, Blue Raspberry, Wild Lilac and Black inks, versamark, clear embossing powder, Taylored Expressions Balloon Party layering stencil and SSS pre-printed sentiment strips.

Another fun day in school. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Cards for Soldiers

I gathered up a few of my cards For a Free Ukraine card drive effort that was being coordinated with Denzil Quick and Yana to give to the brave soldiers fighting for their country and freedom some words of encouragement through cards. Yana made available some appropriate greetings written out in the Ukraine language. To me this was a very rewarding project. I miss the regular posts by Yana and continue to pray for her safety.

The Free Ukraine blog is updated by Denzil when possible.

Take care and be safe.

Garden Flowers

Just Us Girls Challenge: Flowers

It’s word week with the Just Us Girls Challenge and the word of the week is FLOWERS.

Using my Taylored Expressions Triple Slim “In The Garden” Layering stencil to create my flowered background, I added TE’s Frame Script Hello die to complete my mini slim line die. I enjoy the TE create in quad layering stencils which creates 4 card fronts but this was a newer stencil that makes 3 mini slim card fronts. Clever concept.

Here are the other cards that this triple slim stencil created:

Hefty Doodle sentiment & shadow die as well as TE’s A2 Thin Frame cutting plate finished off the second card and….

Sentiment was from Gina K Designs’ Sketched Flowers stamp set for the 3rd card created from this stencil.

My Star

The Four Seasons Challenge – May Anything Spring

May is filled with a lot of things to celebrate: my hubby’s birthday, margaritas for Cinco de Mayo, our wedding anniversary, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, the official start of summer at the Jersey shore and Delaware beaches. But most importantly is Memorial Day in our family. A day to remember those who served our country. Our family church always has Memorial Day services in the church followed by services on the cemetery. It has been our family tradition for as long as I can remember to attend these services. Dad was a Ranger in WWII, landed in Normandy and survived capture and being a prisoner of war and now has his place in the Old Soldiers Home in Heaven. He passed the day before Memorial Day weekend 11 years ago so my card is representing his star among the skies. Enough personal stuff and onto my card.

I first created my cloud background using my “Bonnie” cloud stencil and blending lightly in blue and purple without reinking my brushes. Next I die cut my star and star frames from Spellbinders Star Nestabilities die set. The center white star is layered but the red and blue frames are inlaid. The sentiment is from Gina K Designs Stately Flowers 7 and surrounding the sentiment I used Taylored Expressions Little Bits – Stars die.

So much inspiration from the inspiration mood board. Thanks for another fun challenge. I always am very inspired by our Buddy Judy and her amazing patriotic cards.
