Candy Cane Cardinal

Peace on Earth Challenge #26

Today’s card is my kick off to Christmas cards 2022. I need to make my list and check it twice and really get hopping with Christmas cards. Normally I’m not a real bird person but these chubby cardinals from Pink & Main’s Winter Cardinals stamp set were really way to cute to pass on. SimonSaysStamps Filigree Snowflakes embossing folder on white shimmer cardstock set my background for the My Favorite Things Merry Christmas Circle Die-Namics die which my cardinal rests on. A layer of black cardstock completed my card today.

There were a lot of wreath’s on the Peace on Earth Mood board for inspiration with this challenge.

I signed up for the OnLine Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop which begins tomorrow and I am going to add this card to the Pre-Class Student Gallery. It should be a fun week in school!!

Pumpkin Patch

Can You Handle The Pressure

The tractor rides to the pumpkin patch and the corn mazes are beginning to see their last weekend at the local farms in my area but I saved a few pumpkins from the patch for my card today. The challenge with Can You Handle The Pressure challenge blog is Anything Goes Embossing with a Twist of Pumpkins. My embossing folder partial embossed sections were created by using Darice’s clouds embossing folder and Nature 3 pack embossing folder. Both were lightly inked with some Distress Oxide ink. My pumpkin patch was heat embossed over the ink blended middle section of my focal layer. Pumpkins are Gina K Designs Haunts & Harvest stamp set. A little Wink of Stella in gold was added to the pumpkins to help them pop a little. A sentiment from Buddy Bonnie was die cut and layered and a few Taylored Expressions Drip Drops completed my card today.

It’s always fun to play along with this challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and stay safe.

Ghost Party

My ghostly card today will be entered into a new to me challenge Most Magical Time of the Year which is a sister challenge to the Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges blog. The Most Magical Time of the Year is 365 days of Halloween, Day of the Dead, Christmas or Winter theme. I cannot move onto Christmas before I finish Halloween and Thanksgiving cards so I decided to use Taylored Expressions Boo Bundle which includes G-G-G-Ghost Stamp & Stencil set, Ghost Gang and Boo die set as well as Ghost Town Border dies for my village. After blending my background I distressed the background with a little DO ink. I think the Ghosts may have been eating chocolate and actually made chocolate smudges.

This month another sister challenge will go live Crazy for Cats. That should be fun too.

Orange You Glad

Colorful Options: October 2022

Outrageous Orange is the color challenge for October with the Colorful Options challenge blog and for some reason the old knock knock joke came to mind when I was thinking of a title for my card. Maybe I have covid brain fog??

For my card today that will be entered into the Colorful Options challenge, I enjoyed making my Distress Oxide background using Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Abandonded Coral inks. My stencil is DL Stencils’ Creative Expressions Wild Oat Grass which I attempted to ink in white pigment ink and then wanted to offset with black but that wasn’t working so I just inked black ink for my wild oat grasses. Maybe my white pigment ink needs to be reinked? I did notice that the stencil seemed to be cut from a heavier material and I should possibly try a different medium. My sentiment and the leaves are Gina K Designs Thankful Leaves Stamp n Foil Mates set.

It’s a yummy looking mood board for inspiration although being a redhead I don’t wear orange but it is a fun color!

P.S. Banana — the punchline for the knock knock joke! LOL!!

Witchy Legs

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge

If it’s October it must mean that the October challenge with the Two Old Bats is a very timely anything Halloween….finally! For my card today, I stamped and colored the lovely legs from Colorado Craft Company’s Sitting Witch stamp set. After adding some doily spiderwebs and a splatter of purple ink my card was complete. I won a blog hop last year from Colorado Craft Company and chose this stamp set and have been “dying” to ink it up.

My house is decorated for Halloween thanks to the help from my granddaughter and their day off from school on Monday. Our community has a designated Trick or Treat night the Friday before Halloween instead of trick or treat on Halloween and I’m hoping that we can keep the number of kids under 100. Although last year was a bust and there was a lot of candy that I had to eat!!!

Happy 2nd Anniversary to the Two Old Bats and their always interesting and inspiring mood boards.

Orange & Black

Can You Handle The Pressure challenge is anything goes embossing with a twist of orange & black. I did go back to the drawing board after making an orange & black card on my previous post but forgetting about the required embossing folder. The Sizzix 3D Dandelion Wish textured impressions embossing folder used as a freebie from Scrapbook.com. After embossing, I opted to use and ink the debossed side, then added a die cut dandelion from my stash and the large hello sentiment which is from Gina K Designs A Little Hello stamp and die set.

Pumpkin Plaid

Double D Challenges – Octoberfest

Crafting Happiness Challenge 135 Halloween all month long

I made this card for an orange and black challenge only to realize that it required an embossing folder!!! So not to let a perfectly good Halloween card go to waste I found that it would also be acceptable for the Double D Challenges of Octoberfest and a new to me challenge Crafting Happiness Challenge 135 Halloween all month long. Thanks to our buddy Lisa K for letting me know about the Crafting Happiness Challenge blog.

My background is a Concord & 9th Woven Plaid background stamp and the pumpkins are Stampin Up’s Fall Fest stamp set with the sentiment from Gina K Designs Haunts & Harvest.

Boo Flies

There are several challenges with a Halloween theme that I will be sharing today’s card.

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge Challenge #10 is a Spooktacular anything Halloween with a dragonfly twist. I enjoy trying to included the dragonfly twist with this challenge and have included 3 dragonflies from my go to Gina K Designs Dreams Take Flight stamp set.

Stencil Fun with the Crazy is our fame – STENCILS are our game October challenge with a Halloween Colors theme as well as the required stencil. So of course Halloween colors seem to be broadening and I do enjoy adding some lime green to my Halloween cards along with some black. On today’s card I inked my background with some distress oxide inks then added Pretty Pink Posh’s layered Clouds Stencil over the blended background to makes some spooky sky clouds.

Four Seasons Challenge is October Anything Goes Fall and the mood board included a foggy Halloween night that I used for inspiration on my background.

Make the Cards Challenge #65 is Halloween so I die cut some SimonSaysStamp Ghosts from black and white layering them for some dimension, added the SimonSaysStamp BOO die with shadow on a vellum circle. A little splatter of Copic Opaque White ink completed my card. I was also inspired by Mindy Eggen’s recent Pretty Pink Posh post for my sky inspiration.

Clear Fall Attempt #1 Revisited

Can You Handle the Pressure – Anything Goes with a Twist of Leaves

The one thing I learned from all my Stamping Buddies is just because something is in the trash doesn’t mean it belongs there and should have a second chance!!! Yesterday’s card with the overlay acrylic coverstock piece that was a fail at heat embossing with gold embossing powder ended up in my trash. The acrylic coverstock was not heat resistant and warped and curled like crazy. So today, I pulled my first attempt of that card back out of the trash and hit it with more heat from my heat gun. It curled and buckled but with off and on heat I attempted to get it a close to usable level. I rolled the piece of the edge of my table, ran it through my Big Shot then thought maybe the laminator. The laminator actually worked. Of course it did pull up a few areas of the embossing but I consider that due to mother nature!!

To enter this card into the Can You Handle The Pressure challenge is to use an embossing folder and anything goes with a twist of leaves, I found my lovely Darice embossing folder and embossed ivory cardstock. Using my previously inked blending brushes, I added some soft rainbow colors over my leaves, and attached my panels to a ivory cardbase to complete this card.

Thanks to my friends to always reminding me with their makes to save those extras that seem like a fail but actually still have some use left in them.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.
