Pearlescent Merry Christmas

I have been playing with Pearlescent watercolor paint. It is quite shiny and has a lot of shimmer when dry. This card will be posted to the Double D Poinsettia challenge and the Watercooler Wednesday challenge.

There was challenge at Splitcoast Stampers to watercolor using black watercolor paper. I wanted to try this, but didn’t want to make the purchase till I decided if I might enjoy the process. I used Hobby Lobby Extra Heavy Weight cardstock, which is at least 100 pounds. It held the watercolor nicely. When the images were all dry, I splattered the front with gold shimmer spray. I like the card and it will be mailed next year.

  1. Your poinsettia are wonderful. I bet they really shine IRL. I love the gold on the black. That black background is so elegant.

  2. Lisa, this is gorgeous! I can imagine the shimmer it has, too. Great job! So, did you like it enough to purchase the black watercolor paper? I bet that would be useful for galaxy backgrounds, as well as night scenes, too.

    1. It will be a while, but I plan to make the purchase at some time. The paint was very inexpensive and now that I have it, it needs to be used. It says it can be mixed with other paint to give it shimmer. Thanks!

      1. I think Bonnie is right, any heavy black card stock should work. I’ve been water coloring on heavy duty card stock and it has worked pretty well. It works well on the Bristol card, too.

    1. It would probably work well, but I am out of her black. I have some SU black, but it is dwindling quickly. I have quite a bit of Hobby Lobby black, so I will use it till it is gone. It was fun to give it a try. Thanks!

  3. Such a beautiful card Lisa. The pearlescents work really well and I can see the shine. Bet its even better in reality.
