Tropical Ornaments

Happy Saturday! The card I created today will be entered into the color challenge at As You See It Challenge #214 Pure Colour Challenge. The colors to be included are: Blueberry Bushel, Granny Apple Green and Pineapple Punch. Here’s what I came up with:

As You See It Challenge – Challenge #214 Pure Colour

I believe the colors listed are SU colors but the closest that I have for those were GKD’s Blue Raspberry cardstock, Bic markers, Memento Dandelion, Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Blue Raspberry inks for the side panel. The stamps were SU’s Cheerful Christmas and To You & Yours.

I’m making the card list and checking it twice and with the exception of cards for all of the kids, I may be finished…fingers crossed. It’s great to be retired and maybe this year I’ll even make some tags. Pressing my luck!!

  1. You don’t need luck when you can create like this one. I did give up on As You See It. It appears that they are SU mutual aid group, if one is not a distributor they don’t seem to want to acknowledge your entries as good. Maybe this creations will prove me wrong.

    1. I was thinking the same thing but pulled out some old SU stamp sets for this challenge. In the new year, I’ll probably try some other ones. My card making goes down after Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas so I can hopefully find challenges that will suit my needs.

    1. Thanks, Lisa, I don’t have SU cardstock anymore but have some old stamp sets. i did try to keep as close to their colors as possible.

  2. I’m with the others in that you did a great job of matching the colours. Although I have one or SU sets I don’t have enough to be able to enter into their challenges if they are selective. That said this card is a winner in my eyes. It is rather beautiful and yet you kept it simple. Love it and love you!

    1. Thanks so much Johanna. I did receive a response from Jan at the challenge and she said you can use any company. They, the design team, vote on the winners. I’m just having a good time with the challenges. Hugs,

      1. I saw the comment by a member of the design team and am glad they responded in this way. It is reassuring to note that any entry is considered as long as it meets the challenge parameters. It is also nice to note that they like our little circle too and think it a good idea. All I know is that I would be lost without this group and on days when my creativity is low – it is my go to place for comfort and ideas.

    1. Thanks, Gerry, I figured Blueberry and Blue Raspberry were pretty close….to me one is as “tasty” as the other.

  3. I agree that making tags might be pushing your luck – being retired, I’ve found, is code for being just as busy as ever! I do love your resist embossed panel down the side. It really draws the eye! I like the way you’ve kept the white space – it lets those lovely baubles shine! Thank you for joining us at As You See It this week.

  4. On a separate note, I notice that some of your friends – and I think your card group of friends is an awesome idea – have commented that they think As You See It is a Stampin’ Up only group. Could you please reassure them that that is not the case. It’s true that all of the team are SU demonstrators so our Design Team samples most often use SU products. However we do welcome entries using any products. At the end of each challenge there is a voting process we go through and first past the post wins. That’s just how it works out. We love to comment on entries and enjoy the projects people share with us. We would love to keep seeing the pretty things that your circle of friends make.

    1. Thanks, Jan, we are a group of stamping friends who “met” at Gina K’s StampTV however things have changed and after a new website was developed we wanted to stay in touch. We try to share ideas, challenges and appreciate the challenges that accept any brand of stamp. I do have SU stamps but not too many of the current releases. I enjoy your challenges; they are fun.

  5. Gayle, you’ve really nailed the colours and I love the embossed resist panel down the side. This card has the perfect balance of white space and bright colour and it definitely lives up to the sentiment of Merry & Bright! Thanks for joining us at As You See It Challenges!

  6. I’m glad so many of my friends are participating in the color challenge, as I’m really enjoying these fun cards. I love your panel on the left and those ornaments are quite fun, as well.

  7. This is a really clever card Gayle and I love how you featured each of the challenge colours individually on your baubles – it makes the colours really pop – then contrasted this with your lovely embossed border panel where you blended them together. Thank you for playing along with our challenge over at As You See It this week!
