Ewe are Awesome

Each month I participate in a theme card from the Crafter’s of Faith group on SplitcoastStampers. This month’s verse is from Psalm 95: 1, 2, 6, 7, 8:

Come let us praise the Lord with joy: let us joyfully sing to God our savior. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; and make a joyful noise to him with psalms. Come let us adore and fall down: and weep before the Lord that made us. For he is the Lord our God; and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. Today if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Challenge–Make a card with music and a heart somewhere on it. Bonus add a sheep/lamb-but that is not necessary.

It took the challenge literally, as I usually do. Following is my card:

This is also perfect for the Just Us Girls challenge. The heart paper is from The Stamps of Life. I used two green sheets for grass and blue for the sky. The sheep and greeting are from sheep2stamp and patterns4sheep, cut out with matching dies. One of the sheep is a mirror image, so I had to learn how to create this using palette4mirror. The music notes were already cut and in stash; they are from My Favorite Things.

I am pleased with this card. Usually I add the Bible verse to my faith cards, but this time, I with with a fun pun from the sheep set. I have no idea who I will mail this to, but I know I will find someone who really needs this card.

Birdhouse Fold-It Card

This card is using products from The Stamps of Life. I own a few fold-it cards where you use dies to create the card base and then decorate the front to your heart’s desire.

The Just Us Girls challenge is to showcase animals. I love these birds and they work perfectly with this birdhouse. The birds are from the set called birds2stamp and I used matching dies to cut them out. The greeting hello is from Notebook Edge and Hello Dies set. The birdhouse itself is from the 5 x 7 Birdhouse Fold-it die set. The flowers are from hippo2stamp and solids4hippo sets along with matching dies.

This week, Stephanie Bernard, owner and creator of The Stamps of Life, stated in her Live broadcast on YouTube she would be part of a special with Home Shopping Network on Facebook. She was asking her customers who have her product that she would be showcasing to create samples for her to show. She is showcasing the birdhouse and several other items, but I only owned the birdhouse. I went to work creating a card. She said paper didn’t matter, just make it solid so it would show up in the bright lights and showcase any product from The Stamps of Life. So the birdhouse got birds for the front, embellishment with flowers and a simple greeting to complete the card. Then I added Nuvo drops to the flower center and Glossy Accents to the bird beaks and eyes. Since I went to the work creating it, I will plan to mail it on Monday. She may or may not show it in her broadcast and since I do not use FB, I will not see it. I like what I created and it works perfectly for this week Just us Girls challenge.

Progressive Cardmaking Class 2 Day 3

Day 3 was about embossing. I made a beginner embossed card.

For the beginner card, I used the SU Ornate Floral embossing folder and a die from The Stamps of Life. In the class, Justine embossed first, then die cut on top of her embossing. This did not work for me as my embossing went completely flat when I die cut after embossing. I tried again and die cut first, then embossed. I added the piece to a white card base and called it good.

I did try both the intermediate and advanced lesson. The intermediate is partially completed, as it was inking the embossing folder. I inked both sides and haven’t done anything with the pieces. The advanced one went to the trash. She used Perfect Pearls in the class to enhance the embossing. I couldn’t find my Perfect Pearls, so improvised with something else and it didn’t work well. There are always new ideas to try.

MSC Bear with Heart

The following slimline card is for the Mod Squad Challenge All About Love.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/all-about-love/

The Gina K Designs image used on this card is the bear. I altered it to hold a heart, rather than the pumpkin it stamped with. His scarf is paper pieced to match the paper used in the hearts. The heart the bear is holding is from the set hearts2diefor from The Stamps of Life. The hearts dies are also The Stamps of Life, Love/Heart dies. The background is stenciled with a SU stencil. I enjoyed creating something different using something that I owned, specifically the bear. I had never masked what the bear is holding and having an image that fit perfectly worked great.

Bugs and Flowers

I received this stamp and die set in December, but I was busy with Christmas so it had to sit for a while. Then I stamped several images and slowly added color. Many were watercolor and a few colored with alcohol markers. Following are several cards using the bugs, flowers, and buddy sent flower pots. I still have several flower pots and I have a new idea in my head, so stay tuned as I continue to use these.

Bugs and Flowers in the Flower Pot

This is the card I had in my head to create with a flower pot. I was blessed with this flower pot fold-it die cut. I used a gifted piece of patterned paper for the bottom of the pot. This card will be posted to the January Use Your Stash group challenge. The challenge is to make a card with flowers and/or hearts and I am the hostess for the challenge. I had no ideas in my head when I came up with the challenge and now, my head seems to be swimming with ideas.

Stamps used are lovebugs2stamp and morelovebugs2stamp from The Stamps of Life along with matching dies. The patterned paper is from Gina K Designs.

Flowers in a Pot Slimline

This card is using another gifted flower pot. The base is covered with patterned paper from Gina K Designs. The top has patterned paper from The Stamps of Life and the fence and clouds uses patterned paper from Hobby Lobby. I even found ribbon that blended well with the flowers. I started with the flower pot and flowers then decided what to do with it. I had fun with this once I had an idea.

Sending You Love

This bug is so fun in the window. This card is using most items from The Stamps of Life. I saw this idea in the gallery on TSOL website.

Thanks for looking at my bug cards. I enjoyed creating them.

Swap card

I decided to participate in a January swap with a small group of ladies. We chose a card to CASE. Here is the card we used: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/320459329741601423/

Following is my card.

Ladybug Hug front
Ladybug card inside

I used stamps from The Stamps of Life, ladybug2stamp and moreladybugs2love along with matching dies. The card we used has flowers and I decided to use something different. I love the ladybugs and was so happy to use them as it has been quite a while.

Sheep shaped card

I made a card for a two year old girl who has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Someone posted on Splitcoast Stampers with a request for Christmas cards. Since I just saw this note yesterday, I contacted the original poster and asked if an encouragement card would work and she was excited, so I created something special for a young child.

Sheep Fold-it Front
Sheep Fold-it Inside

I wish I had texture laying around my house, like wool felt, old socks, old wash cloths, or anything to provide texture for the sheep would be fun, but I gave up and went with paper. I looked at the die set and added color like in the photo for the front, then chose a greeting from other stamp sets for the inside. I know the child can’t read, but thought this would provide a fun card for the parents. I think the child will hold the card, open and close it and that is about all. It was mailed today. I hope it bring a smile to the little girl’s face and the parents as well.

Rejoice

Each month, I make a card based on a theme with the Crafter’s of Faith group on Splitcoast Stampers. December is based on Matthew 2:10 When they [the Wise Men] saw the star, they were overjoyed beyond measure. The challenge is to use stars on your card.

Rejoice

I used many items from The Stamps of Life. The nativity is from extras4snowglobe along with matching dies. The palm trees are from flamingo2stamp, which I stamped in Versamark ink, embossed with clear powder, then fussy cut out. The stars in the sky are from a star background die also The Stamps of Life. I needed a greeting for the front, so I found the word Rejoice in Christmas Sampler from Paper Smooches. I had gold foil paper which I had ran through my Xyron machine giving it self adhesive for the backing. It made it easy to create the background as well as the small nativity pieces.

I made another card on Friday with the same star theme. There was a challenge to use an older Christmas stamp set, so I searched through my mother’s stamps and found one I hadn’t really used and it was perfect for the star challenge.

Joy to the World

The stamp set used is called The Sounding Joy from Stampin Up. I stamped the star with Memento Pistachio Ink, then the word Joy with GKD Cherry Red ink and Versamark Ink, clear embossed. I added a star around the star with a stitched star and only embossed rather than cut. I cut small stitched stars for the corners. The papers used are GKD Fresh Asparagus, SU Real Red for the stars and card base, and the white was layout out, so it could be any. I enjoyed creating this card as it is something different and I was using a beloved set of my mother’s.

Thanks for spending a bit of time with me!

Sharing a few cards

I have been busy with a few challenges with Splitcoast Stampers that were focused on pine trees and pine cones. I submitted these to the Double D Challenge from the posts at SCS. I thought I would share these here.

I linked those photos to my gallery at SCS. The Peace card was created for a Faith challenge and I shared a quite a bit about the photo at that link. The Thanksgiving card was created with all Stamps of Life products. The paper is Gina K and SU along with the inks used on the pinecone.

Following are a few other photos that I made recently. We had a birthday, I worked on a Christmas card, and a card with dogs for a young man.

Birthday card

This card is my husband’s birthday card. He really liked it as it is all about guitars. These are acoustic and are not usually colored, but I needed the spread of color and it worked. All were fussy cut.

Christmas Ornaments

I have new product that I wanted to play with. This is a Spellbinders die and stamp set. I followed an idea on the Spellbinders blog using supplies that I had on hand. I didn’t have silver foil paper, so I made my own. I took a small piece of gray cardstock, swiped Versamark ink, then silver embossing powder. I used two layers of the ink and embossing powder to make it thick and look more silvery. It is not as shiny as foil, but for giving this idea try, I think it works. Since then, I purchased silver foil. I will try this card again soon. I pulled the colored paper for the ornaments from my large stash of scraps.

Doggy card front
Doggy card inside

This doggy card went to a 7 year old boy who had a surgery then got an infection which went septic. His aunt requested a card and he loves dogs, so I got busy with my doggy stamps and dies. The outside part is from a Stephanie Bernard/Sizzix set. It is retired but Stephanie is selling the Sizzix product still remaining in her warehouse on Amazon and the price was right, so I picked it up. I think every piece of this card came from my large scrap pile. That makes me happy to find uses for the pieces in that never ending pile.

Thanks for reading this long post. These were not made in the same day, but over one to two weeks.
