Joyful Wishes

I created a Christmas card this week. It is green, so I will add it to the Sisterhood of Crafters, the Peace on Earth Christmas and the Can You Handle the Pressure challenges.

This card started as the alphabet challenge card at Splitcoaststampers for the letter J. I needed to use a word off of the list and one of my own. The word from the list was Jade and my own is Joyful. I used SU Just Jade for my cardbase and embossed layer. I used the Spellbinders Evergreen 3D embossing folder. The patterned paper is SU Flowers for Every Season. The brown paper is from Spellbinders. The greeting is Lawn Fawn Winter Wavy Sayings cut with a die from Simply Wavy Banners. I added SU snowflake sequins for a bit of sparkle.

We reached 80 degrees today! I have windows open and am enjoying getting a bit of fresh air in the house. Thanks for coming by and reading my post.

One Layer Birthday

Today I decided to create a one layer birthday card. I always need birthday cards and in honor of my sister, I made a birthday card today. It is her birthday.

I used Stampin Up So Very Grateful flower image; this set was released in 2014. I chose Gina K Designs Scripty Sayings for my greeting; it was released in 2016. I colored the flower image with alcohol markers then added a bit of sparkle with a Jelly Roll Glitter Pen. I added the score lines to add something extra to the one layer card.

This will be entered in The Sisterhood of Crafters: Keep it Simple https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2023/08/keep-it-simple.html

This card will also be entered in Less is More: Challenge #489 – One Layer https://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2023/08/challenge-489-one-layer.html

The last challenge it will be entered in is Retro Rubber Challenge #412 https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/08/challenge-212-anything-goes.html

It has been a long time since I have created a one layer card. It is nice to create a clean and simple card sometimes. They may say CAS but they are never quick to create. I always want to add more, like a black layer, gems, or possibly a strip of paper, but walking away is the best choice to make with the CAS card.

Mother’s Day card for Friend

I swap cards with a fellow crafter who is a mother, so I decided to send her a Mother’s Day Card for this week’s swap.

I used a stamp set from Unity designed by Gina K Designs, called Another Name for Love. I colored the flower using Gamsol and Prismacolor Pencils. I added sparkle with a Crafter’s Companion Clear Sparkle Pen. I may have went a bit overboard on the gems, but once they are down, they stay put. I used the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder on the white frame.

This will be entered in the following challenges:

This card is in my mail. I hope she enjoys it. With both Mother’s passed away, I found joy creating a card for someone else using my Mother’s Day stamps. I have several. Maybe my daughters will find them useful.

Rose Hello

I found a few challenges that I thought would be fun to create for.

For this card I used Paper Smooches Rosy Posy set. Paper Smooches has been closed for well over a year, but I have never inked this set and colored it. The greeting is from Simon Says Stamp You Shine. This set was part of a card kit, which I did not purchase. I did purchase the patterned paper used in the kit and recently the stamp set went on sale, so I took the plunge and purchased it. It worked well for the greeting.

One challenge is CAS Colours & Sketches: http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2023/01/challenge-501-colors.html

I used watercolor with the colors for this challenge. After the image was dry, I tried adding texture with the small end of the Cherry Cobbler marker. I liked the effect.

The second challenge is The Sisterhood of Crafters: Something New: https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2023/01/something-new.html

Since both images were never inked before, they are considered new to me.

The third challenge is Cardz 4 Galz: http://cardz4galz.blogspot.com/2023/01/190-cas-clean-and-simple.html

I left a lot of white space, so this is definitely a clean and simple card.

It was fun using these colors, finding items in my stash, and creating a card. I am not sure who will receive this card, but hopefully soon I will find the person to send it to.
