The second challenge is up. Following is my sample card:

I used a Power Poppy stamp on SU Crumb Cake cardstock. My first card did not include embossing powder and I didn’t like it as much, so I added the powder. I finished it with a ribbon.
Tonight kicks off the Virtual Stamp Night Mini at Splitcoast Stampers. I am a hostess for one challenge in mid-December so I was able to create samples for several challenges. Following is my first sample.

This card was completed in one hour exactly. The rules are to complete the card in one hour. Now, there are short cuts. You can have card bases created ahead of time, images colored and just taken out to use, backgrounds created to use and anything you create ahead of time is fair game to use. However, I had nothing created ahead of time so I worked quite quickly in finishing this card. It helps to know your images, dies, embossing folders, and what papers are available ahead of time.
I knew I had this pocket stamp from an old Stampin Up set. I say old as it is woodblock and one of the first I purchased back in around 2004 – 2006, so it came out to be used. It comes with girls and a frog, but I wanted a more winter theme. The cardstock is very retired Midnight Muse from SU. I embossed the pocket in gold embossing powder. The gingerbread are Stephanie Bernard/Sizzix dies. I die cut them in SU Crumb Cake and red cardstock from my stash. I added a tag with the same cardstock. The background was rather plain, so I embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and added a bit of Blue Denim ink.
This was a fun card to create. If you enjoy these kinds of challenges, feel free to join in.
I have been creating with the colors Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, and Mango Melody for the color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. I chose to make a wreath which fits right in with Double Trouble Paper Crafting challenge.

In addition to the colors I listed above, I used Soft Suede for the card base as well as the greeting. The stamps and dies were created with SU Arrange a Wreath stamp and die set. I used a retired SU embossing folder in the background. The gold paper is from my stash. I used a gold sharpie marker to color clear gems for the flower centers.
With this challenge, Thing1 said to use a circle or circular element, so my wreath is the circle. Thing3 said to use a fall or Halloween theme, so I chose fall. I missed Thing2 because I placed my greeting in the wrong place. If I had placed it in the center of the wreath, it would have worked. It is still a fun challenge and I enjoyed creating the wreath card.
Thanks for stopping by.
I made a card today for a Use Your Stash challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. The theme is leaves. I see that the Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge is also leaves. I will add it to that challenge as well.

The leaves and swirls are from a stamp set from Gina K Designs called Stitched Leaves. The cardstock I used is called Blue Lagoon, also GKD. The greeting is from a Paper Pumpkin kit. I had several sheets of backgrounds I created a few months ago using the Polished Stone technique. I stamped the leaves and cut them from two of those pieces.

I love challenges that enable me to use my stash. It has been a long time since these images have seen ink and I enjoyed creating with this set.
I played with a challenge at Splitcoast Stampers honoring Queen Elizabeth II using any kind of mixed media. I do very little mixed media, but chose to give it a try.

I used several stamp sets in completing this card. I used Paper Smooches Royal Cuteness for the greeting and castle. The crown came from Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After. The corgi’s came from My Favorite Things Best in Show along with the pedestal the queen dog is standing on.
The background is on a piece of Strathmore Watercolor Paper. I began with a stencil and acrylic paint. I came back after it dried and began adding green ink colors, but that wasn’t enough. Then I remembered I had Ken Oliver pigment powders, so I shook a few colors on the background and applied a lot of water. I let it dry then sprayed gold spray onto it. This gold is from Stampin Up and I must have added water to it at some point; it is in a small mister bottle that I shake. After drying, I decided it finally looked like a lawn fit for a queen.
Thanks for spending time with me. I enjoyed creating this card. I am not sure when I will dive into the mixed media again, but I know I can create this way when I choose to spend the time.
I tried a newer technique this weekend. The featured stamper on Splitcoast Stampers is Lisa Curcio who I learn a lot from. She shares several videos a month, blog posts, and special cards for newsletter subscribers. I was thrilled to select a card to CASE.

I linked the blog post that shows the video used for the card that I CASED. My card uses a die from My Favorite Things. I think it might be called Contemporary Rose. I stacked it two times. I used Spectrum Noir markers and 99% alcohol to create the background. I placed the alcohol in a small spritz bottle; I have never done that before. It really made the alcohol ink move a bit. My vellum is thin from Hobby Lobby. My paper is Spectrum Noir white cardstock. I chose a simple Hello greeting from the mini set Rose Bouquet from Gina K Designs.
I had fun creating this card. I made two pieces of alcohol inked vellum, so will use the other one hopefully soon.
So thrilled that the Power Poppy blog is back and sharing ideas and inspiration. The current challenge is April Flowers Bring May Flowers, so I had to color an image.

I used the new Sketches of Spring Vol. 1 digital image. These daffodils are so pretty and fun to color with the sketch lines drawn by Marcella Hawley. When I color this again, I plan to change the buds color and the large flower behind the daffodils. This time all of the flowers are colored in yellow and orange tones. I used a variety of alcohol markers on this image. I enjoyed taking the time to color.

This card will be used for my monthly Crafter’s of Faith challenge card at SplitcoastStampers. This month the verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. The challenge is to make a card giving glory to God. I believe all nature gives glory to God, so this image is perfect.
Thanks for stopping by!
Combining several challenges with this card. The Make the Cards Challenge #44 is to make a winter themed card, while ModSquad Challenge is only snowflakes. My card is square for the MISTI challenge at SplitCoast Stampers. So fun when one card meets several challenges.

I used snowflakes from the Joy of the Season set which was a collaboration between Simon Says Stamp and Gina K Designs for Stamptember 2018. I purchased it used, but it was never inked. I saw an idea from Laura Bassen where she made a rainbow wreath and I love her creations, so I CASED her card. The greeting is from the Holiday Wreath Builder stamp set from Gina K Designs. I used the wreath builder stencil to stamp the wreath. I added dots to the center of each snowflake with Nuvo Drops.

Each quarter there is a virtual stamp night at Splitcoast Stampers. This time the theme is TV series. I worked on the mini challenges over several days.

This card was for 3rd Rock from the Sun and the challenge was to make a galaxy card. I chose to ink blend a background with Lawn Fawn inks. I splattered it with a couple of different white watercolor paints, but all that showed up is water droplets. I let it all dry then added the stamping the next day. This is a SU set called Every Blessing and the greeting I used is from a Maymay Made It set called Christmas Miracle. I have made several Christmas cards this year and I think this is my favorite. It hasn’t been mailed, yet.

This card was created for a MASH theme where the challenge is to create a humorous Get Well card. I chose to use Paper Smooches Courteous Cuties. I kept it very simple with little coloring and a little ink blending.

This is for the TV Guide magazine. The challenge is to use only red, white, and one other color. I chose green as my other color. I had this banner in my stash for a couple of years, created from Echo Park Celebrate Christmas. I had this candy cane and bow in my stash for a couple of years, so it came out for my red and white. I added a bit of twine and called it good.
Each of these challenges has to be completed within one hour. The time to prepare does not count and you can use pre-colored images from your stash. I enjoy the challenges sometimes. The actual event is December 17 and 18. Usually there are two weeks or more to complete the challenges. Even if I do not participate in the actual event, I do enjoy the mini-challenges.
Thanks for spending time with me and reading this post.
