Birthday Plaid

I received a new set of dies and found a challenge to use them with.

This is the Kaleidoscope Plaid die from Spellbinders. It is a set of three dies that you can place together in different ways to change the plaid. I used the colors from the As You See It Challenge: http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com/2023/04/297.html

Gorgeous Grape is the cardbase and one layer of the plaid. Coastal Cabana is a layer in the plaid and the scalloped circle. Parakeet Party is the green plaid layer. So Saffron is the yellow scalloped layer and circle with the greeting.

I enjoyed using this plaid die set. It was released for Christmas a couple of years ago and it is quite versatile.

Marigold Slimline

It has been a long time since I have made a slimline card. The CAS Colours & Sketches has a sketch that makes a slimline card, so I dusted off the cobwebs and got busy making a slimline card. I own many dies for this card size and used not even one with this card.

For this card, I used a variety of products. I used Technique Tuesday Marigold Flower (2021) coloring it with Pale Papaya and Mint Macaron both SU colors that are retiring in two weeks. The Hello die and mini strip are Gina K Designs from A Little Hello Layering Stencil Bundle (2021). The patterned paper is SU, cut down from a card base.

This will be entered in three challenges.

I enjoyed making this card. Finding several challenges that it seems to fit into are a plus. Thanks for spending time with me today.

Easter Tulips

I have a tulip card I made for Easter.

https://cyhtp.blogspot.com/2023/03/anything-goes-embossing-with-twist-of.html

I used the SU set called Blessed Easter. This was purchased nearly 10 years ago. It came as a single wood block stamp with the greeting attached to the tulip. I separated the images making two separate stamps. I often use the tulips for birthday cards during the Spring. I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to color the tulips. I chose Gina K Designs Artists Choice paper for the images. The argyle layer is Echo Park patterned paper. I used an SU embossing folder for the border.

Easter Cross Card

I have an Easter card that will be entered in the Can You Handle the Pressure? challenge.

https://cyhtp.blogspot.com/2023/03/anything-goes-embossing-with-twist-of.html

I used the set SU Hold onto Hope for this card. I used Gina K Edible Eggplant and Fresh Asparagus for ink and cardstock. The white paper is SU as well as the glimmer paper in the cross. I used the Garden Trellis embossing folder from SU.

I have been participating in Virtual Stamp Night with Splitcoast Stampers and this was added to the 7 Layer Challenge. The theme is On the Menu. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.

Hinge Fun Fold Card

I am sharing my card for the Challenge Your Stash February card. This is a group I participate on Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge was to use red in honor of the hostess’s 40th Anniversary.

I used Gina K Designs Red Hot cardstock with a gingham paper from Echo Park. The jar and strawberries are from Lawn Fawn, How You Bean and the Strawberry Add-on.

I used a tutorial by Lynn Dunn. I watched her video and followed her directions.

Thanks for spending time with me. I enjoy her tutorials and are easy to adapt to any stamps and papers.

My Favorite Flower

One of my favorite flowers are tulips. When it gets close to spring, I always look for tulips blooming. The As You See It Challenge is to share my favorite part of spring.

My Favorite Thing About Spring is flowers blooming. I chose tulips today. This is a Gina K Designs set called Spring Tulips Mini. The dies used to cut the image are from The Stamps of Life. The dies used to cut the greeting is a Stampin Up die set that goes with Harvest Apples. I like how it has a little flower on each side. I used alcohol markers to color the tulips.

Thanks for stopping by. What is your favorite thing about spring? It is 58 degrees today, so I am definitely thinking of spring.

Trio of Plants

I spent time coloring a CAS card with a Power Poppy stamp set.

I used the Potted Primroses stamp set. It is no longer available as a clear set but you can purchase images as a digital stamp. I used Gina K Designs Amalgum ink for my stamping. I have a mini pad and it took about 3 times in the Misti to get a solid black impression, so I am not sure I really like this ink. However, I didn’t know how I wanted to color the image, so I chose this ink. I decided to use my Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The lavender paper is from Stampin Up and is retired. I added score lines to give it something extra.

This will entered in the Power Poppy Clean Slate Challenge: http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2023/01/the-blossom-challenge-clean-slate.html

Thanks for spending time with me today.

Stripes, Dressing up an Animal, Feathers

Here are my samples for three more challenges.

My Jolly Snowman was really pushing the hour time limit. I used a background from Simon Says Stamp called Stripes. It took forever to dry as I inked it at least 3 times using my MISTI. I struggled getting the stripes stamped cleanly. The snowman is from Inkadinkadoo and I have had it for many years. It has stripes on the hat and scarf, so it was perfect for the stripes challenge. I layered it two times. The second oval is hiding a major mistake and didn’t want to start again. The paper color is Soft Succulent. I used the pen gifted me for Christmas for the gold (Thanks Bonnie!). The greeting is a Paper Smooches greeting. I did enjoy this card, even though it took time creating and a long time drying.

Since the penguin helped decorate flamingo, he had to have his place in the spotlight. I used the penguin from The Stamps of Life to get him festive for Winter. The background paper is Gina K Designs. I love this penguin and was thrilled to create with him.

My last challenge for today is Feathers. I used a walrus from Paper Smooches along with the hat and greeting. He gets his feather from Hero Arts already created sitting in my stash. I kept the tag simple with a bit of twine. Some day, this will probably go onto a card as I rarely give gifts these days.

Thanks for sharing in my card. There are three more challenges that I have not created for. I hope to take care of that soon.

Happy Birthday

The final challenge from Friday evening was large sentiments.

I chose the Lawn Fawn Giant Happy Birthday Die for the star of the card. I stacked it with three layers of white cardstock to make it thicker. The polished stone background was in my stash waiting to be used. I found a color in my Gina K Designs cardstock from many years ago from a pack called Calypso. It worked perfectly for a layer and the greeting. I added the toucan already colored and fussy cut, then balanced it out with the flower. Those images are from Catherine Pooler’s stamp set Toucan Do It.

When I made this, I liked the tone on tone. Now I am wishing for a bit more contrast, but have no idea what I would change.

Thanks for sharing in my samples. I have been making samples for a few weeks with not much else. I am ready to move on. Today the other challenges go live and I do have 3 more challenges that I haven’t made a card for. I will make them as I get to them.
