Painted Flower on check

I decided to give the Make The Cards Challenge a try since the theme has Buffalo Plaid and I like plaid. I found a few other challenge with the help from Buddy Bonnie, so will add those as well.

I used older stamps and retired product on this card. It is so enjoyable to pull out older product and use it rather than it sitting. The background is stamped using Stampin’ Up Buffalo Check, the flower is from Painted Harvest, both retired from SU. The greeting is from a set called So Grateful from Power Poppy. I added a piece of ribbon, matted the focal, popped it up on foam squares and called it complete.

Autumn is my favorite season as I love the cooler weather and the colors as the leaves change. I love mums in my yard and a pumpkin on my front porch. My explanation is for the As You Like It challenge to explain which is my favorite season between Autumn and Winter. I truly do not enjoy winter. I like seeing snow the first time it happens then get very tired of the cold and dreary weather.

Autumn is often a time to be thankful to someone who has helped me. I receive a lot of help from my Buddies and an honored to call them each a friend.

Wreath stamping

This month the MISTI challenge at Split coast Stampers is to add a wreath to your card. I pulled out my Wreath Builder Template and stamps from Gina K Designs and began stamping. I created a total of 3 cards.

Thanksgiving Blessings

The above card was using the Autumn Wreath set. I began with Kraft ink going all the way around the circle, then moved the leaf a little bit and stamped with Warm Cocoa, then moved the leaf and stamped in Charcoal Brown. I trimmed the square with a stitched square die, mounted on Dark Chocolate and on a card base of SU Crumb Cake. This was entered in the Double D Challenge for leaves.

Butterfly Wreath

The above card with butterflies was created with the Sending Love stamp set. I used many colors and do not have them written down. The center of each butterfly is a Nuvo Glitter drop. I used a set called Incentive Set for the greeting and found a circle to stamp in one of the wreath builder sets. This card was entered in the Mod Squad Challenge for butterflies.

Thinking of You

This wreath using stamps and ink other than Gina K Designs with the wreath builder template. I used a Maymay Made It set called Garden Party for the flowers and leaf. I used SU colors of Pale Papaya, Polished Pink, and Sage Shadow for my stamping. The center greeting is from SU Happy Thoughts. I used gems for the center of the large flower. I added stitching to the center by embossing with the die and a rubber mat. I enjoyed creating this card as I didn’t look at Pinterest for inspiration. I have no special challenge for this one other than the MISTI one at SCS.

The first two were created with inspiration from Pinterest and cards by Sherri Gilson. Both were uploaded to the challenges from SCS. Now I will move onto something other than wreaths for a time. Thanks for looking.

Thankful for you

I have a card stamped with mini ink cubes and a skeleton leaves. At first I didn’t like the background, but came back the next day and it looked better.

https://ginakdesigns.com/2021/09/02/september-2021-monthly-mix-challenge/?v=7516fd43adaa http://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2021/09/leaves.html

I started with Jelly Bean Green, Wild Dandelion, Tangerine Twist, and Tomato Soup inks. Then I came back and added Tranquil Teal, Plum Punch, and then Warm Cocoa. I definitely filled the page. I stamped leaves from the Skeleton Leaves mini stamp set all over the background then cut it with a stitched rectangle die. I placed the layer on a Honey Mustard card base. The words Thankful for You came from The Stitched Leaves mini-kit from a few years ago.

Sunflower Wreath

I created a card using 6 sunflowers for the Just Us Girls challenge.

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2021/09/just-us-girls-challenge-600-word-week.html

I used the Arrange a Wreath stamp and die set from Stampin’Up for this card. The sunflowers were created with Bumblebee cardstock and the edges inked with matching ink. The wreath is in brown tones, Crumb Cake and Early Expresso also from SU. The door was created using patterned paper from Gina K Designs and it needed a knob, so that came from Holiday Frame Filler set also by GKD.

Congratulations on reaching 600 challenges! It was fun to create a card with six of something.

MSC Flowers Hope

I enjoy slimline cards and the Mod Squad Challenge made this easy with the Slim is IN challenge.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/slim-is-in/

This card uses Gina K Designs stamps and inks. I used Painted Autumn stamp set for the flowers and leaves and Hopeful Flowers set for the greeting. The ink colors used are Fresh Asparagus, Lovely Lavendar, Wild Lilac, Edible Eggplant.

This card will be posted on Split Coast Faith Based Challenge on Tuesday, Sept. 7, as an encouragement card.

I enjoyed pulling out my stamps that have not seen ink in a long time. I have enjoyed this set since purchased in 2016. I used Melanie Muechinger’s blog post where I found a similar layout and her date was 2016. Thanks for an enjoyable challenge!

Circus Seal

Taking inspiration from buddy Gayle and one of her challenges, I went to my stamp room and began finding stamps, a stencil and dies that worked for the Circus Themed challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters.

http://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2021/08/the-greatest-show-on-earth.html

To find the help I needed, I searched Pinterest for Circus. A seal photo popped up in my search and I knew I had a stamp set purchased around 2013 from Gina K Designs, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger called Jumping for Joy and it contains a seal, the ball, and the jumping platform as well as other animals. I stamped and then masked the seal, then placed the jumping platform and ball around the seal. Next obstacle was to create a background that looked like a circus. I spotted a stencil that was laying nearby and realized it would make the perfect tent like background. I chose to use a red Copic marker for tracing the lines. This stencil is from Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey called Sunny Day Stencil. I realized my tent needed something like curtains or banners. I had a banner close by that had not been colored or die cut, so I colored and cut it with the die, then proceeded to cut two more. I popped a set up for dimension. I made a ticket from The Stamps of Life ticket2stamp which I own dies for, so cutting was easy. Then came the stars. I often use a die from Lawn Fawn to cut small stars and this time I took a scrap piece of cardstock and colored it with the blue Copic marker that was used on the banner and the ball center. Finally everything looks like a circus. I added a lot of sparkle to make the stars and banner shine.

Thanks for reading my process. I enjoyed creating this and using so many items just sitting in my craft room begging to be used.

Potted Plant Trio

I saw the beautiful colors with the new challenge at CAS Colors & Sketches so I had to give these a try.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2021/08/challenge-435-double-challenge.html

So fun to use two stamp sets from different companies with the same name. I used Gina K Designs and Lawn Fawn sets both called Stuck on You. The greeting came from SU Picture Perfect and the pink and blue sprigs came from GKD Handmade Botanicals. For ink colors, I used a combination. The pink ink is a Memento ink pad in Rose Red. The blue ink used for the ferns is a Tombow marker. I used Spectrum Noir markers for the blue and yellow on the pots. The succulent is stamped in Canteloupe ink by Memento. All of these colors were as close as I could come to the actual colors shown for the challenge.

I enjoyed creating this card today. It was enjoyable to play with color and try to get close matches to the ones needed.

Inlaid Floral Hello

This card will be in two places. It uses only dies, so it will be used for the August Challenge Your Stash card with Split Coast Stampers. I used the idea from Online Card Classes Crushing on Cardstock.

Inlaid Floral Hello

I have used inlaid die cutting on cards before, but not to this extent. I used the Fun Flower Slimline Panel Die from The Stamps of Life along with cardstock from TSOL. I think the blue is Sky, yellow is Banana, and the red is Strawberry, all from the Cardstock Set 2. The white came from a stash of scraps, but I am sure it is Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth White. The hello is a die from Gina K Designs. In the class in each lesson, it seems they are stacking the die for dimension, so mine is stacked with 2 layers of Strawberry CS and one layer of white. The last time I used inlaid die cutting, it was for a small butterfly, so this was a first for me. I have never used this floral die and gave the inlaid a try. Well, I lost one of the red pieces as it never cut, so I ended up with a white piece. I forgot to look for a matching marker to color the piece, so it is white. I like the card as it is colorful. I am sure the person who will receive this will not notice the bloom I lost.
