The Sisterhood of Crafters – Easter

The Dies R Us challenge and The Sisterhood of Crafters challenges made me think of Butterflies and Easter Eggs. First full day of spring is tomorrow and am hopeful that it will follow with some more wonderful weather. My card includes stamp sets and dies from Pretty Pink Posh’s Easter Eggs and Beautiful Butterflies and my grass is a Memory Box Pasture Grass die. I lightly sponged my background with some Distress Ink mulled lavender, scattered straw, spun sugar and then some Memento angel pink, added my pasture grass and some GKD vanilla ice sequins.

So happy to be moving onto some spring projects and that I have this lovely hobby while social distancing.

Just Us Girls #527 Trend Week

My card for the Black Background trend week challenge #527at Just Us Girls didn’t quite turn out as I expected. LOL…I think I may add some more color to my flowers before sending this one out the door. I stamped first in GKD white pigment ink, heat set it then stamped in Wild Lilac. The lilac did not give me as much color as I would have liked to have unfortunately. The stamps set and die is GKD’s Sunshine & Love stampTV kit and the sentiment is Hero Arts Happy Stamp & Cut.

Flowers on Black

It’s Trend Week at Just Us Girls. The trend is to use a black background.  The big, solid floral corner from A Big Hello by Gina K Designs was stamped in Unicorn White ink by Hero Arts. I let it sit all day to make sure it was dry, the colored with Prisma pencils: PC908 Grass Green, PC912 Apple Green for the stems and leaves, PC923 Scarlet Lake and PC925 Crimson Lake for the flowers. I added dots around the stems and leaves with a white gel pen. The sentiment from Wild Blossom also from Gina K Designs, was stamped twice in Barn Door Distress Oxide ink, then once with Unicorn White which I thought gave a pretty good match to the flowers. I added a Red Velvet border, then used a white card base. This was a fun challenge and now I have another birthday card for my stash.

St. Patrick’s Day 2020

St. Patrick’s Day cards for the grandchildren. Brooke is my rainbow and our song was “somewhere over the rainbow” for bed time sleepovers. Mickey is for Chase who even at 9 years old has a heart of gold. Our song is “you are my sunshine” so I’m thinking the gold will reflect the sunshine. I did find both of these images via on-line free coloring pages, resized and colored them in. I did have one more for a little friend who is celebrating his 1st St. Patrick’s Day but in my haste to put it in the mail forgot to take a photo.

We are practicing social distancing at our home and Pennsylvania has strongly urged all non-essential businesses to close but unfortunately not every will comply with that directive. A very hard time for our country and the world. Together we will weather this storm and rainbows will be on the horizon. Stay safe everyone and we keep washing our hands.

I was excited to see the challenge with Just Add Ink as it is all about the beach. I have been to two beaches in my life and both were enjoyable. I was also happy to see the As You See It Challenge is all about my favorite card to send.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and decided to go with it. The stamp set is Beach Happy by Stampin Up. I used all Gina K Designs supplies and inks for the card. The ink colors are: Coral Reef, Tangerine Twist, Wild Dandelion, Key Lime, Blue Lagoon, Plum Punch, Kraft, Sandy Beach, Black Amalgam. The cardbase Coral Reef.

I added sparkle to each of the palm leaves and the bag. This was fun to create.

I love creating general uplifting cards. Those are always a fun card to send. If this is sent near an occasion, I will place those greetings inside. I often send these to a friend who is going through a rough time in life. Another reason I like these kinds of cards is that the person is not expecting it. They get a fun surprise in their mailbox.

The challenge at The Male Room is to use Team Colors. I have friends that live in Ohio so I chose red and gray for Ohio State. The horseshoe, from a retired set by Theresa Momber for Gina K. Designs called Out West was stamped in VersaMark and embossed in silver on a Stormy Sky card panel. The sentiment is from Scripty Encouragement, also by Gina K Designs stamped in Red Velvet on a Red Velvet card base.

ModSquad Challenge – Wheels

The challenge hosted by Nancy at the ModSquad Challenge is to include wheels on your project. I created a birthday card using SSS Classic Bicycle die, Momenta frame die, cloud stencil by Bonnie, and stamps from Sugar Pea Designs for Stamp of Approval. GKD inks in Blue Raspberry and Ocean Mist and my go to black ink is VersaFine Onyx Black.

Green, Green, It’s Green They Say

It’s all about the Green at Double D Challenges and  Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Blog wants us to use some Green.This card is for the man who always donates cabbage for the annual Corned Beef & Cabbage dinner that I co-chair each year. I turned the cute little gnome die from Simon Says Stamp into a leprechaun, or maybe he’s a gnomrechaun. The pattern paper for his lower garment is from a pack by Authentique that has some awesome green designs. I colored his hat with Copic G09 and his nose with E11. The THANKS die is also by Simon Says Stamp cut three times and layered. The pot o’gold is from a die by Taylored Expressions. The tiny bit o’gold is Christmas wrapping paper from Target. The background is Sandy Beach embossed with Forest Branches. The card base is Key Lime.

The cat in the hat is from Gerda Steiner Designs: https://gsd-stamps.com/collections/digital-stamps-spring/products/st-patricks-day-digital-stamp I rarely use digital stamps, but the ones in this shop are quite easy. It is colored in a combination of Copic, Spectrum Noir, and Sharpie markers with a Uniball Gold Gen pen thrown in the mix.

The cardbase is white Hobby Lobby paper. The green layer is Gina K Designs, Grass Green which I stamped with My Favorite Things Garden Flourish background stamp in Versamark ink. The banner is also Gina K, Journey of the Heart patterned paper. The sentiment Good Luck is from Stampin’ Up Paper Pumpkin, December 2019, Something for Everything.

I used a sketch to complete the layout. The sketch is from Split Coast Stampers SC792. It has squares, but I changed it to circles. I enjoyed creating the card, following a sketch with a specific theme.
