DRU Challenge 143 – Spring Flowers
Just Us Girls Color Week #532

I was attempting to make some backgrounds to keep on hand and I believe I used alcohol pearls for this rust background, diecut it using the Waffle Flowers A2 dies popping up the inner frame with some foam adhesive. The flower is a die cut from Momenta (no name) that I picked up at my Hobby Lobby on sale. I cut this several times in white cardstock, cut once in Navy (GKD’s Blue Denim) inlaid the navy petals and once in Brown (GKD’s Dark Chocolate) for the the flower center and sentiment. Added some shimmer spray to my flower, sequins and sentiment from GKD’s Stippled Flowers stamp set.

This card will be entered in the color challenge of Brown, Navy and Rust at Just Us Girls.

and in the Dies R Us Challenge DRU Spring Flowers #143 Challenge. The dies used were the Waffle Flowers A2 dies and Momenta for my flower.

Coordinating Die

Day 4 of the OCC Spring Card Camp is all about using a coordinating die to create a window, then use the die cut to create another card.

I used the Hero Arts Hummingbird stamp set with the matching dies. I made my mask using the die. I should have trimmed the mask a bit so there wouldn’t have been a small gap between the hummingbird beak and the flower, but I decided to leave well enough alone. All images were colored with SU pencils and a blender pen. Now for the second card using the die that was cut from the window.

I added the score lines to the front for interest, like in the class. Both cards were added to the Mod Squad birds Challenge, from Split Coast Stampers.

Faux Embossing Folder

I am taking Online Card Classes, Spring Camp 2020. Day One was all about creating a Faux Embossing Folder. Here are two card created with this technique.

My faux embossing folder was created with the background stamp, Flourish, by My Favorite Things. I added Scripty Lawn Fawn die cuts to each card. This was a different way of creating an embossed image, but I will probably stick to my regular embossing folders as I have many to choose from.

Hoot-a-nanny

WeCraftCards.com had a pen and ink challenge this week, which had to do with Zentangling.  I made this and thought it would be perfect for the current ModSquad challenge of birds.

I’m not all that fond of Zentangle, but I kind of like the way this turned out, as it reminds me of wood.

Spray So Grey

The Paper Players Color Challenge: PP486

Or maybe I should say Powder Scattered Tan! The Paper Players Color Challenge is to use this interesting color combination of Seaside Spray, So Saffron, Grey Granite so I came up with Powder Blue for my flowers, Scattered Straw for the sun and rays, and Aqua Spectrum Noir Tan Marker for the border and leaves. The stamp set used was GKD’s Sunshine & Love STVKit and Sunshine Stencil.

I like this color combo and it was a fun challenge by Jaydee at the Paper Players blog.

It Flies

AAA Cards CAS Game #163

The challenge for AAA Cards Clean and Simple Challenges #163 is a sketch and optional twist It Flies.

So CAS are normally a challenge for me so I decided to pull out my Denami Designs rocket ship for this challenge. I did add some very subtle clouds using my Bonnie cloud stencil inked with weathered wood Distress Ink. Very CAS but then I decided to decorate the inside of my card so don’t look if you are expecting CAS inside too.

All of the stamps are Denami Designs. I haven’t played with them in quite some time and I believe it should be enough of a night sky that our grandson will appreciate. From CAS to Not!

Happy Hello

I created a card with the CAS Colours & Sketches in mind.

The colors are Petal Pink, which I substituted Gina K Designs Innocent Pink, Highland Heather, and Mint Macaron. I used a set from Gina K Designs called A Happy Hello along with matching dies. The inspiration for this card came from one of the designers on the challenge site, where she used the Swiss Dots folder, or a similar one, and a scalloped rectangle. I used a Spellbinders scalloped rectangle to place my floral design on, inking it with the pink. I added gems to the center of the purple flowers with Hobby Lobby gems.

Tulips Squared

Just Us Girls #531

A square card featuring a square shape is the Just Us Girls #531 Challenge – Trend Week. So for my card I created a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ square card using GKD’s wreath builder template for my Pretty Pink Posh Tulips stamp set. Good thing another square was required because I need to cover up my long stems. The sentiment and butterfly are a Recollections Valentine’s Day stamps and die set.

Cottontail

I love the Cottontail Wishes set from Simon Says Stamp. The bunnies are sooo cute. This is the card I made for my DH. I stamped the bunny in Soft Stone and used C01 and R20 to color him. I cut up a cotton ball to use for his tail. I stamped the eggs and jelly beans from the same set and colored with various Copics. I had several banners in my stash that I cut with a die by Lawn Fawn and the sentiment worked perfectly in one I had cut from Soft Stone. I used Soft Stone for the card base. I’m entering this in the following challenges:
