I followed MFT Sketch 501 for the layout. I chose the owl from SU Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp set. He needed balloons to celebrate, so the balloons and sentiment came from Paper Smooches Hallooballoo set with the hat coming from Noggin Toppers, also from Paper Smooches. The patterned paper is from Gina K Designs Birthday Hoot pack. I used MFT white paper for the cardbase and layer.

I had fun with the sketch and combining many stamps to make a fun celebratory image.

Birthday White Space

The final day of My Favorite Things Summer School is about white space. I enjoyed the lesson.

I used the Happy Birthday Script die from MFT. I had a bit of issue with this as I kept losing the dot of the “i” so I finally went to my embellishments and found a pink pearl. That was perfect for the save of the dot. The pink paper is Stampin’Up Pink Pirouette, which I blended the lightest ink I own onto it, Gina K Designs Innocent Pink. The flower is from Everything’s Rosy by Sunny Studio. This was the first time I inked this set, so I looked on the Sunny Studio blog and they have a chart for using the set. The rose has 5 layers, so I used the following colors: GKD Innocent Pink for layer A, Bubblegum Pink for layer B, Lawn Fawn Guava for layer C, GKD Passionate Pink for Layer D, and GKD Lipstick for Layer E. There are only 3 layers to the leaf and I used GKD Jelly Bean Green, Grass Green, and Fresh Asparagus for the layers. I cut both images with matching dies.

I enjoyed stamp school. It has been enjoyable to find items in my stash that haven’t been used in a long time or never used.

Smile Ombre’

Day 4 of My Favorite Things Summer Stamp School is all about the Ombre’ technique.

I used the MFT Smile Maker stamp set and Lawn Fawn inks for this card. The yellow ink colors are Butter, Lemonade, and Sunflower. I ink blended the colors with a blending brush.

I tried several ink colors and the yellows seemed to blend the best for me. I added sparkle to the letters.

Rainbows and Sunshine

I had several cut circles left over from Online Card Classes Summer Camp, so out they came for another rainbow. I cut clouds from a Lawn Fawn die. The sun is a flower stamp and die, Gina K Designs, Autumn set. The greeting is from The Stamps of Life rainbows2stamp. My inspiration was from Split Coast Stampers featured stamper. I enjoyed creating this card and using supplies from my stash is always a joy.

Birthday Fishes

I had a bit of fun with the Birthday Buddies stamp set from Paper Smooches. This has been a favorite of mine for the last five or so years.

The Paper Smooches challenge is to make a birthday card. The My Favorite Things Day 1 is about the visual triangle. I used the fish to make a visual triangle with your eye following the three fish, with three water bubbles, then the googly eyes. I love having an excuse to use googly eyes!

The paper is MFT Birthday Brights patterned paper. I used Tombow marker colors that matched with the balloons on the paper. The fish are stamped and embossed on Bristol paper, colored with a water brush and Tombow markers from the Tropical collection. Fun challenges and a fun card to create.

Pink Ink

This started out as an experiment. I saw an interesting gatefold card in my Pinterest feed. It led to a Stampin’ Up demontrator’s blog where she did a video.  This starts out as a regular gatefold card, but then you attach a horizontal flap to the top part of the left flap and another horizontal flap the lower right flap – this keeps the card closed without a belly band.  Begin with a 5 x 8 ½ card base, scored at 2 1/8” at each end on the long side. The solid layers for the flaps are 2 x 5 3/8; the pattern paper layer is 1 7/8 x 5 1/4. The horizontal flaps are 2 1/2 x 3 7/8 for the solid layer and 2 1/8 x 3 3/4 for the pattern paper layer. I added an additional layer for the sentiment, cut at 2 1/8 x 3 1/2. I had to play with the layers a little bit because not only am I terrible at fractions, I’m also challenged when it comes to putting my cardstock on the right line on my cutting board. The sample card only had a sentiment on the lower flap and some lovely flowered paper at the top. The pp I chose was a small pattern from a pad by In My Mind’s Eye and needed something at the top. I had separated the Birthday Wishes stamp from Massive Message a long time ago, so stamped that on each word on one of the solid panels in Passionate Pink. The flower is from the Autumn Wreath Builder and the leaves are from the Mini Wreath Builder. I added a bit of bling from Pawsitvely Awersome in the center of the flowers.  Since the card is mostly pink, I decided to enter it in Just Add Ink #516 Challenge, which this week has an inspiration photo with lots of pink. The pp also kind of picks up the turquoise in the picture.  This was fun to do and I’m really pleased how it turned out.

AAA Cards CAS Game #170

Getting this CAS card in under the AAA Cards deadline challenge of maxi white space + optional twist flowers. The flower I chose for this card is a SU ‘From The Garden” which is a beautiful stamp but it is very large so in my attempt to have maxi white space stamped it off the side of my layering panel in versamark and gold embossing powder, adding a sentiment from GKD’s The Northwoods by Theresa Momber.

A Little Bit of Pink

Just Add Ink #516 Inspiration!

Inspiration picture on the Just Add Ink #516 challenge is this amazing pink Christmas tree….oh how I wish we would have kept some of those retro white, silver and pink trees….so for my card I pulled out my pink cardstock and cut 1/2 inch strips to create my background. I did case this idea from Yana Smakula and her beautiful blue hues card. My stamp set is a Catherine Pooler Designs Stamp of Approval Hip Holiday set. I stamped the sections of my tree in different inks, embossing powder to create my “hip” tree.
