The Mod Squad Challenge is to create your own patterned paper. I used stamps from three companies: Leave Me in Paradise from Catherine Pooler Designs, Made With Love from Gina K Designs, and the February 2019 Kit Club Set from The Stamps of Life. I used a variety of inks in creating my tropical pattern: from Lawn Fawn I used Celery Stick, Freshly Cut Grass, and Jalepeno, Lucky Clover, Key Lime, and Coral Reef from Gina K Designs, and Granny Apple Green and Calypso Coral from Stampin’Up. The cardstock is Old Olive and Calypso Coral from Stampin’Up, and White from Spectrum Noir.

The Double D Challenge is to use a punch. I have many punch and none are labeled with the correct name, so I can’t give the exact name of the punch used. I chose a scalloped border punch from EK Success for this card.

I love creating my own patterns, so the Mod Squad Challenge is perfect for me. I also love using my punches. I think I like border punches better than dies and I have both. I like the control of the punch. Thanks for looking!

Birthday CASE Cards

I have several birthday cards to send during January, so I have been seeking inspiration and using new-to-me stamps. Pinterest is my friend in seeking inspiration lately.

The two cards above are basically the same. I used retired sets for all of the stamping. The large flowers are from Flower Shop, the birthday sentiment from Bring on the Cake, and the small flower is from Bloomin Love. I used the same colors for both cards: Rococoa Rose, Seaside Spray, and GKD Kraft. The cardstock is GKD Kraft, SU Rococoa Rose or Seaside Spray, and Spectrum Noir White. I added a bit of sparkle and bling to several flowers. I found this idea on Pinterest along with the color mix.

Today I created a card based on the Featured Stampers work on Split Coast Stampers. Back to retired stamp sets for my card.

I used Stippled Blossom by SU for the flower and leaves. The sentiment is from PTI Delightful Dalia. I added score lines to the top of the card to provide a bit of interest for the Clean and Simple card. I also had a lot of sparkle on the flower.

Christmas Money Holders

The paper is from Echo Park, Celebrate Christmas pack. The greeting is from The Stamps of Life, elves2stamp. I used Sizzix Scalloped circle dies and SU Stitched Shapes dies for cutting the greeting. The ribbon is from our stash.

This was exactly what I needed today, so I was excited to see her video with such a simple holder.

Charlie Brown Brings me Joy

The As You See it Challenge is to finish the sentence: _________ Brings me Joy. I chose Charlie Brown. Watching Charlie Brown videos for any holiday is a long time tradition in my family. I have been married 28 years and I can’t remember a holiday we have missed, especially Christmas.

I have a very old Charlie Brown stamp from Stampabilities called Peanuts Gang Caroling. The woodgrain stamp is Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain. I colored the Charlie Brown characters with SU Watercolor Pencils. I stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear powder. The woodgrain is stamped with Memento Desert Sand ink.

This is a large part of our families life. I think after the VHS viewer dies, then the DVD player, we will begin purchasing streaming video.

Christmas with Mom Tribute

I have many supplies from my Mother’s estate. One day recently, I began thinking that it would nice to create Christmas cards using her supplies. I found a couple of ideas that I like and have supplies for.

This ornament set is easy to use. It is mounted on wood blocks. I could remove them from the wood, but I find wood easy to use, most of the time. I keep the tool handy to I can re-stamp if needed. The idea I found used a tree to create the foliage for the ornaments to hang in. I tried the tree, but then decided to use my pine set. I am finding that the older sets work well with newer items available. The pine is from a set called pinecones2stamp from The Stamps of Life. I can’t remember the name of the ornament set, but it is retired SU, from 2011. I added a lot of sparkle with the Crafter’s Companion Sparkle pen. Oh, the ornament set has a punch that matches the ornament perfectly. It made it quite easy to make the window. I used glue dots to fasten the ornament in the window.

I think this was Mom’s favorite stamp set as she used it a lot. The idea I found used Wisteria Wonder ink and paper, which I have both, however, I could not get the ink to blend with the brush. I used Lovely Lavendar ink from Gina K for the blending in the oval. The tree in front is stamped with Elegant Eggplant. It stamped beautifully. The greeting is stamped with the same ink. To create this, I made a mask using GKD Masking paper, cutting an oval with a die. The masking paper is the exact same size as the card front. I did use the Wisteria Wonder paper. The purple tones seemed to work together well.

For the blending, I used the blender brushes, similar to makeup brushes. They work like a charm for blending the inks. Mom used sponges for everything, like the video I saw. I added a lot of sparkle with the sparkle pen.

This has been fun pulling out stamps from Mom’s Christmas sets. She created a lot of Christmas cards, often giving them to many families at her church. I may give a few more a try if I have time, or I may start sooner next year. Thanks for sharing my memory lane with me.

Penguins Wobble but they Don’t Fall Down

Remember the Weebles commercial? I think the not falling down applies to any critter one can make wobble.

Hang on because here comes another.

The technique this week on Split Coast Stampers is to use a wobbler on your card. I have had wobblers sitting in my work area for about a month and just needed a bit of time to create with them. These penguins came from The Stamps of Life. Both sets arrived in my house during November. I stamped and colored all of them, but never managed to make a card. I need 3 cards to send immediately, so penguins to the rescue!

The second card has glittery snow, as the MISTI challenge for December is to add snow to your card. It took me a while to think of something, but finally remembered about creating snow by making a simple cut in paper. After adding the snow, I remembered that I have glitter. I used the quicky glue pen to add the glitter to. I love these penguins. I hope to have time to create a few more cards with these fun critters.

Red, Green, and Gold

The colors used are Shaded Spruce for the leaves, Cherry Cobbler for the flower and cardbase, and gold for the greeting and layer. The stamp set used is Merry and Bright by Gina K Designs. I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I rarely think of layers for a CAS card, but this one has a lot of white, so I think it will work for CAS.

Traditional Christmas

I used the stamp set from Gina K Designs, called Merry and Bright; it was released in 2017. The colors used are Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobler, White, and Gold. I followed the colors for this week’s color challenge at Split Coast Stampers, CC768. The flower and leaves are fussy cut. I used GKD/Thermoweb Rectangle dies for cutting the sentiment. I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.

I like this card. Once I made up my mind on the shape for the sentiment, it was easy. I could see making more if I need to.

Non-traditional Christmas

I created a card in silver and navy for the Mod Squad non-traditional challenge. The card was posted from Split Coast Stampers, but decided to share it here.

I used an older set from Stampin Up called Joyful Christmas. I stamped the poinsettia two times on In the Navy cardstock, and embossed it with Ranger Silver embossing powder. I fussy cut the poinsettia out and layered it. I used a Darice embossing folder and partially embossed it. I added a silver strip of paper between the embossing and the sentiment. The white paper is GKD Artists Choice. It was heavy enough that the paper didn’t rip after being embossed, like the thinner paper did.

I like these colors. This is one of my favorite sets for Christmas, and I have a lot to choose from.
