Today is the day to share cards created for the Challenge Your Stash Group at Split Coast Stampers. The challenge is to make a card showing a kissing couple, a couple in love, or love for a pet. I made two cards using the same technique.

For each of these cards I used the mirror image so they faced each other. I tend to use this technique every year for our anniversary. That is quickly approaching in about 3 weeks, so this challenge was perfect timing for me.

The elephants are from a new set from Lawn Fawn called elphie selfie flip flop with matching dies. I learned I was able to die cut the reverse, but flipping my cardstock over. I colored the elephants first with alcohol markers, so it bled through and I could easily see where to mount the die. I used dotted paper from My Favorite Things for the scene. This card will be posted to the monthly MISTI Monday challenge at SCS.

The seahorses are from a limited edition stamp set from The Stamps of Life. For these images, I die cut first then stamped the reverse image. I use a stamp called Mirror Image, where I stamp the image on the stamp then use that stamp to place it on my paper. Sometimes it is quite light, so I have to trace with a black marker. The background was made using alcohol inks on vellum cardstock. Basically you scribble with the marker then brush or dot rubbing alcohol all over the ink to create the blended background. I use 99% alcohol as the paper stays flatter. I saw this on a SU Demo video. It is fun to create and every background is different.

Patriotic Cards

Someone asked for help with cards for her parent’s nursing home. She was specific in wanting July 4th cards. My Buddy Judy sent me her left-overs from last year, so I put them to good use and created 6 or 8 cards with her supplies, then created a few more. Here is a selection from the cards were mailed.

I think the box held 15 or so cards. I counted but didn’t really pay much attention. I promised her 10 cards, but she got a few extra. Once I had an idea, I duplicated it several times. These will be given to the residents at the home and there are around 70 residents. Hopefully several people are providing enough cards.

Unicorn and Rainbow

The rainbow stamp set, from The Stamps of Life, rainbow2stamp, was released in July 2017 and has been in my stash that long. The unicorn is from Paper Smooches Spectrum set, released in 2015, now retired. I used several ink colors to make the clouds. This is a bright card that will probably be sent to someone needing a bit of encouragement.

Yellow and Gray in 8 min and 47 sec

Today I sat down with two stamp sets, mounted on wood or acrylic ready to stamp, ink opened, markers ready, and timer set to create a flower card in 10 minutes. I tried one yesterday and couldn’t make it happen.

I used only yellow and gray to color and black to stamp on white cardstock. Stamps used are Sweetbriar Rose and Happy Thoughts, both by Stampin’Up. The gray cardstock is SU from the Neutrals collection and the white is Gina K Designs. I did a quick color with Spectrum Noir Citrus Blend, CT1, 2 and 3, Copic Cool Grays, C1, 2, and 3. My timer showed 1 minutes and 53 seconds left, so that made 8 minutes and 47 seconds used to complete the card. I have someone in mind to send this to, so it was worth the quick creating.

April Crafters’ of Faith Challenge

On the 7th of each month is a new challenge for the Crafters’ of Faith group on SplitCoast Stampers. This month the verse is: Psalms 30:5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

I focused on morning using Lawn Fawn Sunflower ink for my sun rays. I used the stencil from the March Paper Pumpkin kit. In creating this card, I used a video for inspiration. I can’t remember her name, but used her idea with stamps and paper I owned. The mat layer is Seaside Spray embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. It was good thing I purchased it as it is retiring the end of the month. The focal was placed on one of the card bases from the kit, which is Pretty Peacock. I like this card. I think it will be used for anyone needing a bit of encouragement.

Mystery Cards

Maymay challenged her viewers to create a set of mystery cards. A mystery card is where you take a 12 x 12 piece of paper, cut it into card fronts that are 4 X 5 1/4 inches and glue to them to a card base. Then you use a stamp set to embellish your card with a greeting and something else if needed. I spent a few days creating this set.

For these cards I used Sunflower Wishes by Maymay Made It for all of the stamping. The paper is one piece of Stampin’Up Designer Paper from Sale-a-bration. The paper pack listed the matching colors, so I was able to color the flowers and leaves to match the paper used. For simple cards, this worked well. Normally, I would find cardstock and layer under the greeting strip and possibly under the designer paper, but this is fine. I was sticking with her video plan.

Virtual Stamp Night L – N, Sketch

This is the last post sharing my Virtual Stamp Night cards created.

The hostess has two boys. She asked them what is their favorite thing to do at the park and they told her “Sports!” So the challenge was to make a sport themed card. I do not send a lot of sports cards, so I own few stamps that are considered sports. I found the basketball player, Curious George on the ball, and the weight lifter. I colored each of these images with alcohol markers. I used the greeting from Fred Said, based on Fred Rogers and his sayings, for the card front. In the end, I like the card.

This was a fun card to create. I had this idea pinned on Pinterest. The oval is watercolored with SU WC pencils. I dried it, then stamped my palm tree and greeting. The background was embossed with an SU folder. I added ribbon from my stash and called it good. I like this card.

The hostess said every park has a slide, so the idea was to use a diagonal to depict a slide. I chose to make the Double Triangle Fold technique card. I used patterned paper and the butterfly from Gina K Sending Love stamp set and paper. The cardstock is Jelly Bean Green from GKD. The patterned papers were cut and waiting to be used. I had the butterfly stamped and colored, so I fussy cut and placed it in the circle. I did emboss the butterfly triangle using a Darice folder. I like the card. It was posted to the MISTI challenge for March as it needed to be green.

I followed the sketch exactly. This card will be sent to someone who I am creating July 4 cards for. I used a very old SU set called Mini Messages with a date of 2004. The embossed background was created using an SU embossing folder.

I enjoyed creating these cards and following the challenge guidelines. I have participated before, but never completing all of the challenge cards. When all challenges are completed, they call the person a Virtuoso and prizes will be awarded. Thanks for reading these posts. I have learned how to schedule these posts. Virtual Stamp Night H – K

Continuing on with the challenges.

This card followed a tutorial. After following the tutorial, I kept thinking of easier ways to create. The tutorial showed a punch for cutting the circle and I used a die, as I do not own circle punches large enough. The box was assembled before placing the inside piece behind the circle. I think the inside could be place easier before closing the card. I struggled getting my piece in and ended up adding another piece to place the circle on to get it centered inside. The end is cute, but it was a struggle and I owned one piece of each paper being used.

I used the dragonfly2stamp from The Stamps of Life for the inside stamping and the front greeting. The dragonfly itself was fussy cut from patterned paper as I didn’t have the die that matched. The patterned paper is from Echo Park. The cardstock is SU.

The hostess for this challenge has an autistic son who love to feed the ducks every day. It is part of his life to go the park, feed the ducks, geese, or any animal he calls a duck. I used the set Spring Has Sprung from Gina K Designs and Simple Celebrate from Lawn Fawn to stamp and create this card. The pattern paper is Echo Park and the cardstock is Balmy Blue by SU. I had fun coloring this card.

This card was created using flowers2layer from TSOL. I had the background stamped waiting to be used so I stamped the greeting strip and finished a flower and leaves to add to the front. It was quick to create.

The idea for this challenge to show a form of transportation used at the park. I chose a bicycle. The stamps and dies are all from The Stamps of Life, bicycle2stamp and the grass die. I grabbed green colors from my stash and cut grass. The bicycle was stamp and cut waiting to be used. I did add the basket.

Virtual Stamp Night E – G

Continuing with my VSN share, this will finish the Friday challenges and begin the Saturday ones.

This challenges was to have your image “trail” off the page, to represents park trails. I chose branches4flowers from TSOL and the bird is from Sending Hugs by Gerda Steiner Designs. This was a fun and easy card to create.

The idea for this was to make your card swing or show a swing, as most parks have swings. I used my tree set from Maymay Made It, called Swingin’ Tree. I ink blended the background with Distress Oxide inks, which is something I rarely do. I forget all about them as they sit away from my other ink pads. I gave the tree leaves, added the hummingbirds, and of course, the tire swing. I used the words Swingin’ By… for the front and the inside says To Say Hi!

This was another card that was put off as it needed thought and research. I really do not make “moons” on cards so it didn’t come quickly to figure it out. In the end, I found an idea on Pinterest where the SU demonstrator explained what she did to place the animal in the moonlight. I die cut the moon using GKD masking paper and sponged ink around the mask. I removed the mask then stamped my images. I chose to not worry that my deer has blue sky and dirt on him. I used the Subtle Embossing Folder from SU to give the background texture along with the greeting. This is a mini-slimline card. I used a piece of Bristol paper for the focal piece, then made the card base to fit.

The stamps used are all SU: Close to Nature, and the March 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit.
