Beautiful Day

Day 4 at Camp Create is all about making the background. The assignment is to use stamps, stencils, dies, any way you choose to create a background.

I looked at a die and drew my own design on MFT Summer Dots Patterned Paper. I used the stamp and matching dies Spread Your Wings, embossing with Taylored Expressions Diamond EP. It is basically sparkly glitter in a clear powder. I added sequins to complete the card.

I chose to use this card for the Crafters of Faith challenge with Splitcoast Stampers. The verse if Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us Rejoice and be glad in it. I think the sentiment fits this verse as it is all about a beautiful day.

Emboss Resist with Fruit

Day 3 of MFT Camp Create is Emboss Resist. Mindy Eggen was the camp counselor and she showed how to use emboss resist with small images as usually she uses it with a background. I gave her idea a try.

I used the MFT stamp set Bunch of Happiness and the Scripty Birthday die for this card. I followed Mindy’s idea with stamping each image and embossing with white embossing powder. Then I used dye inks as opposed to Distress Oxide inks like Mindy used. I fussy cut each image and glued them to my background. I am not sure if I will ever ink blend small images like this, but it was nice to learn and give her idea a try.

Watercolor Blooms

Day 2 of MFT Camp Create mixed with Just Add Ink is what I have been working on with this card.

I used the MFT Flower in Bloom stamp and matching die for this card. I stamped in Versamark and Gina K Designs Black ink and embossed in clear. I like to emboss in clear when watercoloring to keep the water where I want it. I used Ranger WC paper. The colors used are Pale Payaya and Polished Pink from SU 2021 – 2023 in colors. I like Pale Payaya as it is a light peach color and lovely to color. The Polished Pink is a bright pink.

Smile Shaker Card

Today is Day 1 of My Favorite Things Camp Create 2021. Each day there will be a new technique or card idea shown with a video and participants can win a shopping spree.

https://www.mftstamps.com/blogs/news/camp-create-july-31-2021

I used MFT Smile Maker stamp set and the Big Smile die for this card. I used Altenew watercolor paints on the card front trying to go in a rainbow of colors. I saw this idea on Pinterest from a Smile Kit from MFT. I added shaker bits using sequins and gems. The background paper is MFT. The foam used is SU foam strips made for shakers. I will see what tomorrow brings and hopefully continue with the card ideas.

Watercolor Slimline

I am sharing my card for the Challenge Your Stash group at Splitcoast Stampers. I will also enter this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-86/

The background is watercolor with pigment powders from Stampin Up. I used Bristol Smooth paper for all of the watercolor pieces. The gold die cuts are using MFT Floral Focus Card kit dies. I found the best way to cut these dies is with the die face up and add waxed paper between the die and paper. The theme for the Challenge Your Stash is watercolor, so I used watercolor pieces from my stash.

Sympathy

Everybody needs a sympathy card on hand and they can be difficult to create when needed. I made one for the Mod Squad Challenge to keep on hand.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/with-sympathy/

I found this idea on Pinterest. I added more water than the one I found and use different inks and a different sentiment, but the rest is the same. The stamp sets used are High Tide by Stampin Up and sign4words by The Stamps of Life. I used Lawn Fawn inks for the water, birds and greeting, and Memento ink for the sky. The gems are from Hobby Lobby.

Hapbee Birthday 2 You

With inspiration from buddy Gayle, I pulled out several bee stamps and ideas began flowing. My card is a bit different for me, as I rarely create cards using several company stamp sets and/or dies.

http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/2021/07/pp550-clean-and-simple-challenge-from.html

I started with Paper Smooches stamps. The bee came from Courteous Cuties and the greeting “hapbee birthday” came from More Courteous Cuties. I decided to stamp the bee near the top, so I cut the greeting apart and placed it around the bee. I saw an idea where the hexagon was cut with a number 2 on it, so I used my hexagon dies from The Stamps of Life along with the stamp set minihexagons4backgrounds, where I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. The number 2 is from graduation2celebrate and matching dies, also The Stamps of Life. The word “you” is alphabet stamps from Hero Arts. I felt the card front needed something else, so I began with the stitched rectangle die from The Stamps of Life, but that wasn’t enough as it still looked too plain. Out came the Cuttlebug Hexagon embossing folder. I like the embossing as it looks like a bee hive.

This will also be added to the MISTI challenge at Split Coast Stampers. This month’s challenge is to use numbers and/or alphabet.

I like how the card came out. It was fun creating.

Sparkling Christmas Wreath

I created a card to honor Rita at Split Coast Stampers as she is the Featured Stamper. I settled on a Christmas Wreath card to provide inspiration. I am posting this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where embossing must be used. I used heat embossing on this card.

https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-emboss-it-4/

I used the Stampin Up Arrange a Wreath die and a Spellbinders kit called Sparkling Christmas. In the kit are patterned papers, stamps, dies, foam adhesive, and double sided adhesive. I used the patterned paper and a matching piece of cardstock from the kit for the greeting. The solid green came from SU Subtle cardstock. Here is Rita’s card where I took the inspiration: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/3017509?&cat=500&ppuser=70873

Butterfly Repeat

July challenge at A Blog Named Hero is to Repeat Yourself. I pulled out an old Hero Arts set and stamped a trio of butterflies.

http://ablognamedhero.com/2021/07/july-challenge-repeat-yourself/

I used a stamp and die set labeled Hero Arts/Sizzix Butterflies 3; I saw it on Amazon labeled Antique Butterflies. It comes with flowers and 3 sizes of butterflies in red rubber stamps along with matching dies. I chose the largest butterfly to stamp and die cut.

I used Gina K Designs inks in the colors Blue Lagoon, Coral Reef, and Tranquil Teal. I used Tranquil Teal cardstock for the layer you see. I used a Stampin’ Up Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder to add florals to the background. the butterflies are stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder and popped up for dimension.

I chose to leave the greeting off of the front as I really have no room for one. It has been a long time since I have pulled out my Hero Arts stamps and I enjoyed using them. They were the first brand of stamps that I purchased 20 years ago.
