Lamplight Christmas

DRU Challenge #158 Christmas

One of my Christmas cards that didn’t make the mail this year but will definitely be kept for next holiday season. My background was a very subdued glitter that I added some GKD crystalline drops for snow and popped in some gold glitter cardstock to illuminate the lamplight. The die used is Memory Box Lamplight Tree Collage that I picked up from Dies R Us this season. The sentiment is one of SimonSaysStamp preprinted sentiment strips. I believe there other Memory Box dies that will coordinate with this one….maybe next year.

My card will be entered into the Dies R Us Challenge: Challenge #158 Christmas and to include a metal die.

Thanks for looking. We are possibly getting SNOW middle of next week. Yikes, I’m getting my snow shovel ready for duty. Have a great day everyone.

Birthday Recipe

As You See It Challenge #240

Sending my niece in Florida a winter birthday card this year for her Christmas Eve birthdate just in case she misses the cold and sometimes snowy weather in Pennsylvania. For my card today, I am also entering it into the fun As You See It Challenge: Challenge #240 Recipe for Winter Fun which must include the following:

as you see it challenge 240 1

My card base is a side fold card that creates a square focal point. I found a tutorial for this card on Splitcoaststampers and thought I’d give it a try. You cut a piece of cardstock 4-1/4 x 11″ and score at the 5-1/2″ mark and again at 6-3/4″ then fold in half and back on itself taping or gluing the scored sections together leaving the opening 4-1/4 x 4-1/4. It may be easier to check out the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers if you are interested in this fold.

To make my recipe, I included patterned paper (patterned paper check) from my stash mounted on red cardstock (red check), added some gold twine (twine or ribbon check) to the side sealed portion, die cut some snowflakes and layered them in the center of the card (snowflakes check), and die cut Happy Birthday (die cut check) to complete my recipe for this challenge and my card.

Thanks for stopping by today. Another fun challenge over at the As You See It Challenge blog.

Bailey’s First Christmas

So I have two first Christmas cards to create and I chose the puppy card over the boy card to make. I’m not sure if my priorities were right in that decision but Baby Bill will get his card too and I think I’m going to use this same design. Thank you to our Buddy Johanna for sharing her recessed panel card and a link with instructions on how to create. I wasn’t able to add a link to Johanna’s card unfortunately but it’s one to take a peek at. So my card for today is for a dear girlfriend’s puppy Bailey.

The puppy was stamped using Sweet n Sassy’s Woof You stamp set, colored in with pencils. Note to self do not attempt to color in low lighting while watching a movie otherwise you may choose purple instead of brown for the nose and tail. Used some dies for the sentiments and the numbers as well as the snowflake and dry embossed the snowflake swirls. Bailey’s scarf was paper pieced and her hat was from Buddy Johanna.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. TGIF! for those that need it for me it will be TGFW Thank Goodness for Wine tonight! LOL!!

This Way Santa

Double D Challenges: Santa’s Hats

Today’s card is super fun and cute, if I must say so myself!! Using the SimonSayStamp Christmas Cheer stamp set, I stamped the directional sign on kraft cardstock, fussy cut and decided on the words for the signs, colored in with white and red pencils. My Santa hat was gifted to me from our Buddy Johanna. She was so kind to stamp a few hats and send them off to me. Thank you Johanna. The background sky was sponged on kraft cardstock using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, SSS snow stencil and Brutus Monroe Alabaster Glitter glaze completed my snowy sky. My snow mounds were created with Poppystamps Stitched Hills dies and used versamark and a snowflake embossing powder for my shiny snow.

My card will be entered into the Double D Challenges Santa’s Hats Challenge. Here is their Inspiration Board:

Just Add Ink #533 Challenge

Sending Stenciled, Shiny, Silver, Stars and Snowflakes. The challenge for the Just Add Ink #533 Challenge by Tina is as you may have guessed it — Just Add S to your card. Wanting to cover all of my “S” bases, I began by die cutting a SSS Felicity Snowflake die in white cardstock, then using the Memory Box Winter Snowflakes Stencil I sponge some color on to my layer which was mounted on Shiny metallic cardstock from Recollections. My Silver embossed Star comes from SU’s Christmas Classic stamp set and was punched out with the SU Star punch. My small stamped sentiment is from SSS Christmas 3×4 stamp set and then for a pop of color I added red raffia to my star and die cut Avery Elle’s peace in left over red plaid strip.

It’s Small Business Saturday so if you need to go out and shop let’s support them. I’ll be stopping by my local bakery and market later today.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Have a great day and please Stay Safe.

Season of Blessings

SSC244 – Sunday Stamps In The Middle

No Black Friday in person shopping today for me! Just having fun making my Christmas cards and joining in some challenges. For today’s card, I stamped my sentiment using an older Inkadkinadoo Warm Holiday Wishes stamp set cutting it out with a combination of circle dies from Spellbinders and Gina K Designs. After adding some gold twine and Christmas Foilage using the Simon Says Stamp die set, it was mounted on a piece of Recollections paper pad plaid then GKD Key Lime and attached to a white card base.

This card will be entered in to the Sunday Stamps Weekly Challenge #244 which is a sketch challenge by Amy.

Happy Black Friday and Stay Safe!

Star Clean & Layered

The Card Concept Challenge 144

It seems like my Christmas cards for 2020 are a little out of my “normal” traditional color and design choices just like the year it’s been. However, I am enjoying spreading myself in different directions.

The challenge at The Card Concept this inspiration photo:

and to define your style. Well defining my all over the place style is a little more difficult than making the card. But for this card I’m thinking Clean & Layered For the card I die cut my star using Spellbinders Nestabilities star die set from Recollections Christmas paper pad. I also die cut my greens from CherryLynn dies and added a red raffia ribbon bow. The sentiment is SSS Peaceful Christmas. The card is mounted on GKD Kraft cardstock and the layering panel is also kraft, scored with white pigment ink swiped over it.

Thanks for looking. Stay Safe.

Shaped Little Reindeer

The Sisterhood of Crafters: Shaped Projects

The challenge with The Sisterhood of Crafters blog is a Shaped Projects challenging us to create anything but a rectangle shaped card project. I started with a regular A2 rectangular card then added the curved shape using Pretty Pink Posh eyelet border die. After cutting through both layers of the card base, I created the same layer using some plaid patterned paper. My Little Reindeer is a Gerda Steiners Designs stamp set which was colored in using some SU colored pencils. The image was fussy cut and mounted on a Spellbinders nestabilities circle die and I curved the two sentiment strips for the front and inside is rest of the sentiment Christmas along with a bird and penguin. Cute set and a fun challenge. Of course I smudged the “HAVE” a bit. The yellow star above Little Reindeer was hanging and glued down to the same location as the “have”. I should have attempted to remove the glue a little better but oops…accidents happen.

A fun challenge and I won’t show my first attempt using a tee-pee card…..turned out ok but with no rhyme or reason to it.

Happy Thanksgiving 2020! A year to remember or maybe forget!

Please stay safe.

Gray — Not My Jam!

As You See It Challenge #239

The challenge for the As You See It Challenge blog is a fill in the blank: The color I avoid using most is ________. and then use that color. GRAY!! I normally do not use gray and I don’t wear alot of gray either as I am “tawny spring” on my personal color wheel which are more warm tones. I did finally find some nice gray shades of cardstock from GKD in Stormy Sky and Slate. My white snowflakes were die cut using a Tim Holtz Sizzix die and the top is one that GKD sold at one time and I cannot remember the name of the company. Anyway there is a snowflake in between the two die cuts from a 2017 StampTV kit which was stamped and heat embossed in silver (kind of gray). The background was created using SU’s Snowflakes stamp set and clear embossed. Merry is part of a Penny Black sentiment die that I cut apart from the Christmas and the Christmas stamped and white embossed is a SSS Christmas sentiments set. Since I cannot just use the gray my red card stock was calling my name!

challenge 239 not my jam 1

Thanks for looking. I’m in Christmas card making mode and am halfway completed and they may get in the mail by December 1st or maybe not!
