The challenge at The Paper Players is a theme challenge by Joanne: Beside the Seaside. We finally had our first visit to a beach at the Jersey shore on Friday so I remembered our Buddy Lisa K’s recent card and used our visit, her card and the inspiration photo to create my card.

The stamps used for this card were: Hero Arts Color Layering Waves, GKD’s Nurturing Blooms for the sentiment, Melanie Muenchinger for GKD’s Gifts from the Sea for my birds and my Bonnie cloud stencil.

Hello!! I decided to join in the Just Us Girls’ Challenge for this week hosted by Nancy and her inspiration photo

which is very nautical. I decided to focus on the striped and the colors to create my card today. My stripes were created using the Pretty Pink Posh wide stripe stencil and some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink. The SimonSaysStamp Painted Friend die was cut 3 times from a navy cardstock which was also used as a layering piece. And my Concord & 9th Hello is from their Triple-Step Blooming Heart stamp set was stamped in Gina K ink.

The challenge at the ModSquad Challenge group is to create a sympathy card. For the past six years, I’ve been sending a card to a dear friend in remembrance of her granddaughter who was born asleep. I guess you can still call this a sympathy card for their loss.

On my card, I used the following stamps from Gina K Designs: Dreams Take Flight, Hugs and Prayers illustrated by Nina Brackett and Hello Sunshine. My clouds were a combination of a SimonSaysStamp and Bonnie stencil inked in GKD’s soft stone ink.

Hot, hot, hot days of summer! What best way to deal with the heat is to enjoy those bright colors and have a nice cold umbrella drink! My card today is for the Double D Challenges – Colors of Summer taking inspiration from their mood board:

and focusing not only the colors but also the pretty cocktails on the bottom right. My background was rainbow inked using Distress Oxide inks and white heat embossing Taylored Expressions Summer Vibes Background stamp. The umbrella drink is an Impression Obsession stamp and the sentiment is from a DMD clear stamp set that I found on clearance at one of the big box craft stores.

The hot, hot, hot weather will return next week so we will enjoy the less humid weather while we can….west coast smoke and all! Thanks for stopping in for a peek.

The challenge at The Paper Players is a clean and simple card that must include a bee! I decided on one of the bees from a SSS Bee Yourself stamp set. Cute bee images as well as some honeycombs and sweet sentiments, too, are on this stamp set. I did really need to layer my focal image on some light blue cardstock and decided to stencil my card base with a light blend of GKD’s powder blue, honey mustard and soft stone over an Altenew honeycomb stencil. I think it will pass for clean and simple….hopefully….still a struggle for me.

The challenge at the AAA Cards is a Twinchie + optional twist Christmas in July! What’s a twinchie you asked? Well thankfully it was explained in the challenge as a square, circle or hexagon up to 2″. In addition to the CAS Twinchie everything should be contained within the 2 inches including the sentiment and no added mat or layer outside of the twinchie. That is the reason that this is Take Two! My original card I die cut my 2 inch circle from the layering mat and I believe that may have been a violation!!! So I went back to the drawing board and added my two inch twinchie circle to the top of my card base,

Both cards use SU’s Wonderful Winterland stamp set and sentiment is Penny Black’s Christmas with Mimi. Spellbinder’s nestabilities circle die was used to create my twinchie and on the top card I couldn’t resist adding some “snow” with SSS large falling snow stencil. The bottom card I used cuttlebug’s snowflake embossing folder.

Hopefully, I have the recipe for my twinchie card correct the second time around. These challenges do get my brain thinking in a direction I don’t usually process but it’s fun to keep on trying.

I haven’t played along with The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge in awhile so their challenge to include either heat or dry embossing interested me. It interested me enough to pull out the SSS Floral Field 3D embossing folder and emboss it on a piece of foil cardstock, lightly sand the raised image, cut it apart for my Bonnie sentiment strip which was popped up and added a few blue sequins to finish off this card. I thought that my sentiment strip needed some shine so I added glossy accents but now I’m wondering if I should have used versamark and clear embossing powder to add the shine. Any suggestions??

Working off of the ornaments in the inspiration photo, I wanted to play around with my Taylored Expressions Baubles layering stencil and Beautiful Baubles stamp set. The stencil is very easy to line up and fun to create these retro looking ornaments.

Judy has thrown down a vellum flower challenge that must be the focal point of your card at the ModSquad Challenge blog. The sponsor for this challenge is Gina K Designs so I decided to stamp one of the larger flowers from the Forever Flowers stamp set which was part of a card kit. Not being the best at coloring, I decided to stamp my focal flower on vellum and heat set with which embossing powder and then repeat the image in the same position on a piece of white cardstock. The flower on the card stock was the image I colored with colored pencils. The sentiment was from Gina K Designs’ Dazzling Dahlia stamp set which was part of Sentimental Summer StampTV kit. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold embossing powder. I added some splatter on the white card layer in bubblegum pink and some gold then tiny dots of glue around the back outline of the vellum layer to adhere to the white panel. All mounted on a pink card base.

Whew….that’s a lot for me!!
