CASEing Bonnie!

Just Us Girls Challenge #597 – Trend Week

And the trend is: Black and White. My card for the Just Us Girls Challenge is a CASE of one of our Bonnie’s cards

Taking inspiration from Bonnie’s card but keeping to the black and white theme, I layered a piece of patterned paper from Gina K Designs’ Petite Patterns onto black cardstock. Stamped my image which is an older red rubber stamp and maybe from DRS Designs in black ink and heat embossed in clear embossing powder. Using a Spellbinders square nestabilities die which was positioned to leave room for my sentiments, it was die cut and layered once again on black cardstock. I really wanted to add the diagonal stripe layer however it just didn’t seem to work for me.

Thanks for the inspiration Bonnie!

Driving!!!

The Paper Players: PP554

A girlfriend’s grandson just passed his driving test and is hitting the road so i decided to send this card to him as well as play along with The Paper Players masculine clean and simple week challenge. I think I got the masculine correct with this sports card however if you take away the layers to create the car it would be clean and simple 🙂

I pulled out my Spellbinders’ Sunday drive die set to create my car, then stenciled Tim Holtz Hocus Pocus layering stencil onto the background adding a little more ink blending to it. The stamp in the trunk is GKD’s Party On and the message bubble is also a GKD stamp set “Let’s Talk”.

Hopefully the young driver will pay attention to the road and concentrate on his driving as much as I needed to concentrate making his car.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Have a great day.

Sentimental Friend

Gina K Designs August 2012 Monthly Mix Challenge

Just Add Ink #567 Inspiration

Trying to complete my August birthday cards and running a little behind schedule when I decided to play along with the GKD’s August 2012 Monthly Mix Challenge hosted by Rema to add sentiment strips to your card project and also with the Just Add Ink #567 Inspiration challenging you to use the photo below as your inspiration

I was drawn to the colors and primarily the rug with that gorgeous large orange flower and the teal accents. So I smooshed some GKD inks (Turquoise Sea and Coral Reef) after spraying with water and created my background. I wanted to add some golden accent so added some gold mixative and blending solution. This didn’t work out quite how I expected it but to me it looked better after adding the flowers and covering up some of the area. The flowers and sentiment strips as well as the stamped sentiment are all from the Gina K Designs’ A Little Hello stencil layering bundle. My flowers were stenciled using GKD’s Coral Reef, Peach Bellini and Dark Chocolate. I did add a Nuvo’s crackle mousse to the centers of two of my flowers. All were die cut using the die included in the bundle.

Spider Jar

Double D Challenges: Mason Jar Challenge

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge

Hello again! The challenge with Double D Challenge is a Mason Jar Challenge and I decided to fill my mason jar with spiders so I can play along with the August Anything Goes Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge. Not a lot of stamping with this shaped mason jar card. The shape was found on line and fussy cut multiple times, I added some Halloween ribbon and sparkly spider web sticker and gemmed spiders.

The inside of my mason jar includes a spider web stencil lightly sponged in purple and spider from Hampton Arts Outline stamp set and cannot remember or find at this moment the sentiment stamp. LOL I used a Zig Painty metallic pen for my mason jar lid.

I may make one more August Anything Goes card for the Two Old Bats and actually use the Inspiration Board.

Baby Miles

AAA Cards CAS Game #195

Another baby card for my new grand-friend’s parents. So another attempt at a CAS along the edge card using Beth Silaika for GKD’s Bella Elephant stamp set, some patterned paper for paper piecing and although you cannot see it I scored three lines next to my image to complete the optional twist of dry embossing for this week’s challenge.

Hope everyone enjoys their day. We are heading back to hotter and more humid temperatures beginning tomorrow. Stay cool, stay safe and thanks for stopping in for a peek.

Nonna’s Miles

Sunday Stamps SSC262 Getting Sketchy

A card for a new grand-friend born yesterday. Mom, Baby Miles, Dad, Big Sister and Nonna are all doing well!

The Sunday Stamps challenge this week is a sketch challenge by Melissa.

I feel like a rebel instead of the rule person that I normally am. I turned my version of the sketch into a gatefold card. With those two strips behind the circle, the sketch just seem to scream gatefold to me. And I jumped in that direction. I have all of the elements and move the sentiment to the top right. It was a fun card to create using stamps from Stamp Oasis’s Little Cowboy and Gina K Designs Oh Baby! and patterned paper from my stash.

Thanks for stopping in and taking a peek.

Where’s the mint?

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge

I have been waiting to turn that calendar page to play along with the August Halloween challenge with the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge group. My project today includes patterned paper from a SSS Halloween kit and SSS sentiment strips. My spider was created using SU punches. OMG….years ago I made so many of these with my girlfriends for their grandkids to take to school as treats. Unfortunately, the packaging was changed on the York Peppermint Patties so I think this candy treat is a thing of the past.

Just Us Girls #595 Wild Card Week

Just how much fun is this that I can also play along with the Just Us Girls Challenge by turning my project into a gift card holder. Wild Card Week challenge is anything but a card. I continued the inside gift card holder section with the same patterned paper and used SU’s Googly Ghosts.

So much fun to make this card and brings back good girlfriend memories. They may be receiving this card—-minus the gift card part…LOL. Thanks for stopping in for a peek.

CASE-ing Lisa

The Paper Players PP552

The challenge at The Paper Players is a theme challenge by Joanne: Beside the Seaside. We finally had our first visit to a beach at the Jersey shore on Friday so I remembered our Buddy Lisa K’s recent card and used our visit, her card and the inspiration photo to create my card.

The stamps used for this card were: Hero Arts Color Layering Waves, GKD’s Nurturing Blooms for the sentiment, Melanie Muenchinger for GKD’s Gifts from the Sea for my birds and my Bonnie cloud stencil.

Lisa’s sympathy card can be seen here.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Stay Safe!

Nautical Hello

Just Us Girls Challenge #594 Photo Week

Hello!! I decided to join in the Just Us Girls’ Challenge for this week hosted by Nancy and her inspiration photo

which is very nautical. I decided to focus on the striped and the colors to create my card today. My stripes were created using the Pretty Pink Posh wide stripe stencil and some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink. The SimonSaysStamp Painted Friend die was cut 3 times from a navy cardstock which was also used as a layering piece. And my Concord & 9th Hello is from their Triple-Step Blooming Heart stamp set was stamped in Gina K ink.

Thanks for stopping for a peek. Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Stay safe out there!
