WWII Vet Card

For the Teapot Challenge at SCS
Teapot Challenge card inside

I am playing along with two challenges at Split Coast Stampers. One is the Teapot Challenge which comes out on Tuesdays. This week’s challenge is to create a birthday card for a WWII Veteran who will be turning 93 in April. They challenged each person to use red, white, and blue. I used this week’s sketch in creating this card.

Details: GKD cardstock in Kraft, Blue Denim, Red Hot, and Layering Weight White. Fiskars star punch. Sizzix drop-in Happy Birthday die. SU Lucky Stars embossing folder.

I enjoyed making this card. I will place it in the mail tomorrow.

Hydrangea with Gingham

Hydrangea with popped up flowers and leaves

This card is created with the Double D Challenge in mind: http://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2019/03/gingham.html

I used an beloved stamp, SU Stippled Hydrangea, retired long ago. The cardstock is Vibrant Violet from Gina K Designs. The gingham is from Sending Love patterned paper, Gina K Designs. I used The Stamps of Life Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out the flower and the gingham cardstock. I colored the flower with Spectrum Noir blender markers. These are new markers with three colors in one, that are easy to blend together. I decided to pop up a few flowers, so I found matching cardstock, stamped the image or portions of the image, and fussy cut them and popped up with foam adhesive.

This will also be entered in the Mod Squad Challenge: http://modsquadchallenge.com/one-or-more-die-cut/

Double Dutch Fold Card

Front where the folds hold it open
Inside with folds open

I have been seeing Double Dutch Fold cards in several places recently and wanted to give it a try. I used a tutorial from Split Coast Stampers along with a blog post and You Tube videos.

Details: SU Blessed Easter for tulip image, colored with Spectrum Noir blender markers. The ovals were cut with Gina K Designs/Thermoweb stitched oval dies along with one Spellbinders Nestability Oval die (the pink one). The cardstock is SU pink, retired. I used a Crafter’s Companion Sparkle pen to give the tulips a bit of sparkle.

The inside is stamp is Joy Clair Easter Greetings. The white cardstock is Crafter’s Companion, cut with a The Stamps of Life Stitched Rectangle die. I used Gina K Designs ink in colors Blue Lagoon, Bubblegum Pink, and Moonlit Fog. The black ink used is Memento Tuxedo Black. The patterned paper is Echo Park Easter Wishes.

This will be entered in Mod Squad Challenge: http://modsquadchallenge.com/one-or-more-die-cut/

Stenciled Roses

Ink Blended Birthday Roses

I used a rose stencil from Hot Off the Press. I blended with a blender brush using Lawn Fawn inks: Celery Stick for the green, Guava and Wild Rose for the pinks, and Moonstone for the blue; the blue turned pink tones purple. I used a Gina K stamp called More Massive Messages.

This card will be mailed to a lady turning 83 in April. As this is the same age as my mother, I chose to make a card that I knew my Mom would like. I think this lady will like the card. She doesn’t get much mail anymore and is always hoping for some, so her daughter requested cards for her. This request is located on Split Coast Stampers.

Card for Louise

Flip it card
Flip-it card front
Flip-it card back flat

This card was made and sent to a lady turning 106 years old. The person requesting the card said that the recipient had failing eye-sight, so large images and bright colors would help. I chose to use a bright purple card base and patterned paper in matching colors. I used butterflies from The Stamps of Life along with a sentiment from the same set. It is called butterfly2stamp and a couple of matching sets and dies. The flip-it die set is a 5 X 7 set from Sizzix. I cut a piece of white paper for the back to have an easy place to write a sentiment. I chose to stamp You are awesome, from Cas-ual Friday, This card was mailed earlier in the week to ensure that it would be delivered in time for her birthday.

All That You Are

Happy Birthday Watercolor

I often participate in challenges with Split Coast Stampers. This card meets two of the challenges this week. It meets WT730 Waters Edge, where I needed to do something with water. I chose to watercolor. The other challenge is CC729 Color Challenge. The colors are Tide Pool, Melon Mambo, So Saffron, and Granny Apple Green, all listed as SU colors. I have few actual SU ink colors, so usually substitute. I used Hero Arts Tide Pool for the blue background. I do own SU watercolor pencils so I used Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green in the pencils, coloring the flowers and leaves. Sweet Corn by Gina K Designs is a match to So Saffron. I did a bit of sponging on the Birthday oval with Lawn Fawn Guava, which is a great match for the Melon Mambo. I even sponged the ribbon. I added a few sequins for something extra. The stamp set used is called All That You Are by SU. I do enjoy watercolor as it gives fast coloring.

Birthday Wishes Wreath

Flower Power Challenge

This is my second card to post to March ginakdesigns challenge. I used the Wreath Builder for placement of the large flowers, the flourish, and the leaves.

Stamp sets: Frame and Flowers 1 (large flower), Sending Love (flourish bud), Stippled Flowers (leaves), Birthday Blessings (sentiment, cut apart to stack). The Darice Vine embossing folder was used to add texture to the card base. The card base is SU Sky Blue and is a 5 inch square. I rounded one corner to give a bit of interest. This card is very sparkly as I used a sparkle pen to add a bit of shimmer. Here is the link for the challenge: https://www.ginakdesigns.com/2019/03/01/flower-power-our-march-month-mix-challenge/

Blossom

Stamps set used: Blossom by Joy Clair, Ink used: Versamark, Paper used: GKD Grass Green, Fresh Asparagus, Used Spellbinders Label Number 9 die, Tombow marker #177

This card will be entered in the Mod Squad Challenge. I struggle with using green, so I pulled out every green piece of paper I owned, then ink, then decided to keep it simple and go with Versamark. I do like the cactus in this stamp set. I think they might be fun to color.
