Tea Shaker Cups

The Sisterhood of Crafters: Let’s Have a Tea Party
ModSquad Challenge Hot Drinks

My card today feels like it should belong to Alice and the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party. I am a tea drinker but my tea cups and teapot choices are very limited in my stamps so I decided to follow my Buddie Gerry’s advice and google some coloring pages. The cups image was lightly colored and then fussy cut applied with some foam dots to my shaker window. In addition to the hot drinks challenge at ModSquad Challenge we also needed to make it a shaker and add stickers. My shaker was cut out using Waffle Flowers A2 dies and in addition to the transparency acetate layer I also included light green glitter tulle for my variety of sequins and gems to shake. My sentiment is Artful Inkables “warm drinks for a cold day” stamps set on purple and die cut using a spellbinder’s labels 14 die. Cardstock is GKD’s fresh asparagus. It’s really a lot of green going on for this card, isn’t it? Looking at it now I wish I would have thought to run it through an embossing folder to add a little more interest to the card. By the way my stickers were given to me from my son. He wanted to contribute to my stash and gave me a supply of some puffy stickers and letters, etc. He’s so sweet!

Time to clean up Valentine’s Day stash of goodies and pull out Spring goodies!! Have a great day. Thanks for stopping in!

Black, Gold Cream Color Challenge

Just Us Girls #523 Colour Week Challenge

Black, Gold, Cream color challenge is going on over at the Just Us Girls Challenge blog. Giving me colors to work with should have helped with the process however after deep 6-ing my first attempt, I believe I’m ok with this card. Not completely sold on it but I love the patterned paper which is DCWV The Mariposa Stack and then I wanted to try out my new find on clearance a Spellbinder’s Wreath Shapeabilities die, too. So I stamped and gold embossed the black panel with SU’s Pretty Petals background stamp and used Sugar Pea for Stamp of Approval sentiment and the die cut word to complete my card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Perfect Pearls Challenge

ModSquad Challenge – Perfect Pearls

I don’t pull out the perfect pearls often but the ModSquad Challenge for this week was to use them on our project. Not sure what was happening on their site but the challenge was posted then missing then posted then missing and now finally posted! Thank goodness I wasn’t imagining this challenge.

Anyway on today’s card I used SU’s From The Garden background stamp which was stamped in versamark then brushed on my perfect pearls. Using the Waffle Flower A2 layering die set I was able to make some frames and added dimension on the middle main image section with foam tape. To me something was missing so I added the butterfly from GKD’s Birthday Blessing stamp set and also used a copper perfect pearls on that piece. The stripes in the background are Denami Designs and were heat embossed in silver. Sentiment is also from the same Gina K Designs stamp set as the butterfly.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Striped Birthday Wishes

Just Us Girls Challenge Trend Week #522 Stripes

My card for the Just Us Girls Challenge of Stripes features Denami Designs triple stripe stamp which was stamped in versamark and then heat embossed using white embossing powder. I decided to use some extra frames cuts that were on my desk and GKD’s Sunshine & Love StampTV Kit for the flowers and sentiment. A little perfect pearls was added to the larger flowers for some shine. A fun challenge from Just Us Girls….made me think!!

Back On Your Feet

Gate Fold Closed–Artful Inkables “Monster Medical” stamp set.
Gate Fold Open -Art Impressions “Catastrophy” by Bonnie Krebs.

A girlfriend has had foot surgery and is non-weight bearing for 6 weeks. This is my card to cheer her up. She and her husband are cat people over dogs so I thought she may get a chuckle out of this card. The outside gatefold only took three attempts to create. I used a Paper Smooches die to create the curve of the sides, then after my original choice of GKD patterned paper had butterflies flying upside down so this was my second choice and the birds look OK! Stamped and fussy cut the band-aids from Monster Medical and attached to the front panels alternating the sides. Created the inside cat on crutches using Spectrum Noir Aqua pens, the hearts were an after thought to cover a smudge.

Does the outside look like band-aids? My hubby didn’t think so but of course he probably never used a band-aid for a booboo! LOL..what can I say except thanks for looking and this one is going in the mail tomorrow.

Hugs!!

Checked Heart

DoubleD Challenges Hearts
Gina K Designs February Monthly Mix Challenge

One checkered heart, two challenges! Double D Challenges has a really lovely mood board and the challenge is to feature “hearts”. My heart was created by cutting a Spellbinders Classic Hearts 6 die on a stamping mask paper, then using Pretty Pink Posh’s wide stripes stencil and GKD’s cherry red and bubblegum pink Glitz Glitter Gel. After removing the mask very very carefully the card was missing something so I decided to add an embossed bottom layer which is a little difficult to see. The embossing folder is XOXO’s by Reconciliations (Michael’s). The stamped images are GKD’s Better With You stamp set. The plant needed a little shine so went over the leaves with Nuvo glitter gloss pen. The GKD Monthly Mix Challenge is to “Just Add Texture” . My texture elements are the glitz glitter gel and the embossing folder.

Thanks once again for stopping by.

Hearts Galore

ModSquad Challenge You’re All Heart Challenge

The current ModSquad Challenge is to create a project with a “Heart” as your focal point. My background hearts were created using the Pretty Pink Posh layering heart stencils in different colors. The stamped image is Gina K Designs Better With You stamp set and then decided to add more hearts using the Penny Black Sweet Heart dies instead of a sentiment on the front of my card.

Have a great day!

Double Point Valentine

DRU Challenge 138 – XOXO

This “Double Point” fun fold card was inspired by one our buddies, Gerry, and will be entered into the Dies R Us Challenge: DRU Challenge #138 XOXO (hearts, valentines, love) theme. The folds were created using GKD Fight Like a Girl patterned paper and the dies used were Penny Black’s heart die and Spellbinders Labels 4. The labels four die is repeated under the flaps with a stamped sentiment and enough room for a signature.

Thanks for looking.

Timed, Brown and a Bow

As You See It Challenge 218
Just Us Girls 521 Word Week

The card I created today will be entered into two different challenges. The first challenge is from the As You See It Challenge #218 which is a timed challenge of 10 minutes plus shades of brown no other color except neutral.

My card was completed in 8:05.67 which I was surprised by since it took me two days to figure out what I wanted to do and then find the stamps. Unfortunately this is a sympathy card for a cousin who lost her husband at the age of 60. The stamps I used on this card were: StampinUp’s Upsy Daisy which was stamped in GKD chocolate brown ink, the background stamp is Hero Arts Italian Poetry background stamp stamped in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The background seemed too white so I sponged some of the vintage photo distress ink over the background sentiment. I have several templates for “stencils” on my desk for use so this did save me a step of die cutting a template. The sentiment is GKD’s Sympathy Duo stamp set and stamped in chocolate brown ink. The added bow was made using some Denami Designs ribbon and the bow thankfully came together more quickly than normal. Mounted the card front on some kraft cardstock, added some wink of stella for a little shine and crystalline drops just because. The Bow meets the requirements of Just Us Girls Challenge “Bow” Word Week Challenge

I enjoy the timed challenges….it’s gets the juices flowing!! Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!!
