Forest Bird

Peace on Earth #32

For this anything goes Christmas challenge and the mood board posted for inspiration, found this little die cut bird. After diecutting cutting him off the branch I decided upon a SimonSaysStamp Forest Border embossing folder for my background and a landing place for the bird. The panel was embossed on navy cardstock, swiped with white pigment ink, edges ink blended with Black Soot Distress ink and a little white splatter. The snow hills are also SSS and sentiment is from Artful Inkables Peaceful Wishes stamp set.

Dreamy Dots

Can You Handle the Pressure

And the challenge is: Anything Goes with a Twist Dots with the required embossing folder. For my card which will be shared in the Can You Handle the Pressure challenge, I created a frame from Spellbinder’s Hemstitch Rectangles which was popped up on the card base. The patterned paper sky was inserted in place and stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts’ August 2017 My Monthly Hero kit. The balloons were cut from a piece of water colored background on my desk using Pinpoint Balloons dies, adding some floss and a Taylored Expressions red bow to complete this card.

Hey, Bear!

AAA Cards Challenge #231

Cardz 4 Galz #190

My card today will be entered into two challenges. The first challenge is AAA Cards Challenge #231 Clean & Simple Challenge and their Moodboard “All the Bears”.

And the second challenge is a new to me challenge Cardz 4 Galz Clean and Simple Challenge.

Two clean and simple challenges and one with a theme of bears. I searched through my stash of stamps and decided on an unknown wood mounted bear in overalls for my image. The sentiment is Taylored Expressions from last year’s StampJoy. Added a hint of blue ink under Mr. Bluejeans Bear to help ground him a bit. Looks like lots of open space and only one layer to finish off this card for these CAS challenges.

Double D Challenges: Happy Birthday Challenge

Congratulations Diane and Darlene on the 7th birthday of Double D Challenges. I so enjoy playing along with your challenges. The themes, mood boards and design team cards are always inspiring.

Today’s card is for a little one turning 3 this month. Although he’s already a car guy especially jeeps, I opted to take him to outer space. My background was created using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks and the moon mask stencil. The images and sentiment is an old stamp set by Love Nicole which must have been made for AC Moore. A really cute stamp and die set that stamps nice clean images. I framed my sentiment (which I should have heat embossed with embossing powder) to help it stand out from the background.

This is the inside of the little guy’s card. The birthday cake is from Stampendous named Candles. I lost the 3 so added a little green man to continue with the outer space theme. I should have looked a little longer because that 3 was in my misplaced stamps bin on my desk. 🙂 I think I will put a little note in the card that the rocket ship is “Hemi Powered”. If anyone knows of any good jeep stamps or car stamps, I’d appreciate the share.

Love this mood board and was inspired to use the colors from it for my card.

Candy Cane Snowflakes

Pease on Earth Christmas Challenge #31

And my final Create in Quads Snowflakes stencil quad creates a diagonal group of snowflakes. I added a white shimmery die cut snowflake to my card as well as Catherine Pooler Stamp of Approval Candy Cane Lane stamp and die set to my card. The sentiment was a freebie from Taylored Expressions and was white heat embossed on red shimmer cardstock.

It’s a lot of fun to use these Create in Quads layering stencils. With all of the red and white stripes on this mood board of course I needed add a candy cane. There is one candy cane left in the house and I have claimed it as mine!!

Winter Snowflake Fun

Crazy is our fame – Stencils are our game!

January Stencil Fun challenge is to use a stencil with an optional Winter theme. Continuing with my Taylored Expressions Create in Quads Snowflake stencils, I decided on the quad that stencils the top and bottom sections of the cardstock and added this Penny Black Wintertime Wishes word die.

And of course while I was making and you get four sections from the Create in Quads layering stencils, I chose this large image snowflake to add this cute deer image from Gina K Designs Christmas Wishes stamp and die set. Sentiment is from the same set.

It’s always fun to play along with the Stencil Fun challenges. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and stay safe.

Snowy Mittens

The Four Seasons Challenge – Januay 2023

The January Anything Goes Winter Challenge with The Four Seasons has a really fun mood board for inspiration. I focused on the red mittens. My background was made with Taylored Expressions Create in Quads Snowflake stencils. These are four full size layering stencils that create four backgrounds. This part of the quad gives you an overall snowflake backround to which I punched a scallop and circle shape then stamped with Gina K Designs sentiment from Snow Much Fun and the mittens are also GKD’s Christmas Wishes stamp and die set.

Thanks so much for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time.

Snowy Halloween

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge — January Anything Halloween

It was a fun mood board to use as inspiration from the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge for January and appropriate for winter. It does at times snow on Halloween in Pennsylvania. So for my card I wanted to create a snowy background. I started with a teal piece of patterened paper with stars on it, then using the Tim Holts Moon Mask stencil I attempted to stencil the moon in first white pigment ink and then finally versamark ink and clear heat embossed. I then inked Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink in chipped sapphire, a swipe of seedless preserves and finally black onyx over the patterned paper and while covering the moon with the solid moon mask. Next came SimonSaysStamp Snowflake banks stencil which includes snow banks and snow flakes. These were inked with Gina K Designs ivory pigment ink. Batty Newton from Newton’s Nook was stamped, die cut and popped up flying to the snowy moon to finish my card.

Black Quads

Colorful Options – January 2023

Basic black is the color challenge this month with Colorful Option with neutrals permissible. Although you always have a choice to use rainbow, I opted for the basic black and decided to make 4 cards using Taylored Expressings Creat in Quads Hexagon layering stencils. For my first card, I used several inks ranging from light grey to black and then blended some Tim Holtz black soot around the edges and lightly in the middle. In an effort to highlight the hexagon images, I used my Sakura clear gel pen to add some shine. After disecting the SimonSaysStamp die I mounted the happy and added a sentiment strip and a few sequins.

The second image of the Create in Quads background includes the rest of the disected die sentiment from the first card, sentiment word strip, Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame 3 Cuting plate.

Next up is the third background, SSS painted hugs die cut on fun foam mounted on a vellum circle, Gina K Designs sunshine stencil with ink left on my brush, Spellbinders Hemstitch frame and a few black stars sequins.

And finally, the last hexagon background was the base for my Picket Fence Studio Lavender Frame coverplate die. I can see myself using this die over and over. The create in quads stencils are fun to use and you receive 4 different backgrounds.

Sorry for the long post today but I when you make one basic black card I might as well make four. Above is the Colorful Options mood board for this month’s challenge.
