One Layer Birthday

Today I decided to create a one layer birthday card. I always need birthday cards and in honor of my sister, I made a birthday card today. It is her birthday.

I used Stampin Up So Very Grateful flower image; this set was released in 2014. I chose Gina K Designs Scripty Sayings for my greeting; it was released in 2016. I colored the flower image with alcohol markers then added a bit of sparkle with a Jelly Roll Glitter Pen. I added the score lines to add something extra to the one layer card.

This will be entered in The Sisterhood of Crafters: Keep it Simple https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2023/08/keep-it-simple.html

This card will also be entered in Less is More: Challenge #489 – One Layer https://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2023/08/challenge-489-one-layer.html

The last challenge it will be entered in is Retro Rubber Challenge #412 https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/08/challenge-212-anything-goes.html

It has been a long time since I have created a one layer card. It is nice to create a clean and simple card sometimes. They may say CAS but they are never quick to create. I always want to add more, like a black layer, gems, or possibly a strip of paper, but walking away is the best choice to make with the CAS card.

  1. Lovely, beautifully colored delecat floral spray. The scripty sentiment with the double scored lines works perfectly. Your sister will love her card, I’m sure.

    1. She is not getting this card. It is her birthday and I thought I would dedicate a card to her. I mailed her one several days ago. Thanks!

  2. Lisa, this is stunning! I am so impressed by your restraint, too – CAS and one-layer in one card?? Whoa! I find it so challenging, but I love the scoring you used to set off that pretty sentiment, and your soft coloring of the flower spray is perfect! Thanks so much for playing at Retro Rubber!

    1. Thank you! I had to send her one already as I do not live near her, but this is a milestone one. She turns 50 today.

    1. Thanks! I saw your card on SCS, went to your blog and I knew I wanted to participate. I like to work at CAS at times.

  3. Pretty floral, excellent colouring, CAS simplicity and a lovely sentiment makes for a beautiful card.

  4. love the shading of blue that you used around your image for this wonderful creation you shared with us at LIM

  5. Lisa, this is very pretty. The embossed lines are a perfect frame for your sentiment. It’s hard to believe those stamps were released so long ago. Great job on this.

    1. I have so many older stamps that I have trouble finding how old some are. Thanks! I keep seeing older Gina K videos and she adds those embossed lines quite a bit.
