Celebrating Laura

I created a celebration card for Army Colonel Laura. She was promoted to Colonel on July 12 and her husband asked for cards honoring her achievement on Splitcoast Stampers.

I chose to go with a dog theme as she likes dogs. I used Lawn Fawn Simply Celebrate Critters and the add-on set that goes with it. I went to my scrap bin and pulled out several pieces of cardstock to use on this card. The card base is freshly cut, but everything else is from the scrap bin. I have too many scraps it seems. The stone wall was stamped with Lawn Fawn Hippo ink using the Bo Bunny Wall Backgrounds stamp set, which I colored with alcohol markers. I could have saved time and ink by using gray cardstock, but I didn’t think of that while creating. The grass is cut with a Lawn Fawn grass die. The flowers are from a Stampin Up die.

This will be entered in the Can You Handle the Pressure challenge. I chose to not use the stars on this card. The clouds were embossed with the SU Cloudy Day folder and I used the debossed side as I thought it worked better with the greetings on top of it. https://cyhtp.blogspot.com/2023/07/anything-goes-with-twist-of-stars.html

Thanks for reading my post. I hope to place this in the mail tomorrow. It has been a very rainy day today and our temperatures dropped a little bit. I am not complaining! We turned our AC off for a while and currently have windows open. I am guessing it will be back on before night for more comfortable sleep.

    1. Thank you! It took the entire afternoon, but those are the kind I like to pull out all of the stuff and use. He said she has served for 23 years. I am sure it is a well deserved promotion.

  1. This is great Lisa. She will love it for sure. I like the critters and chuckled at your comment about using gray CS instead of colouring. I always end up with something that I could have done but didn’t.

    1. I thought about the gray. I had stamped it already and while coloring, I thought about looking for gray cs. Maybe I will think about it in the future. Thanks! I had fun creating this card.

  2. Such a fun card with great sentiments. Congratulations to Colonel Laura and thankful for her service.
