Colorful Options – January 2023
Basic black is the color challenge this month with Colorful Option with neutrals permissible. Although you always have a choice to use rainbow, I opted for the basic black and decided to make 4 cards using Taylored Expressings Creat in Quads Hexagon layering stencils. For my first card, I used several inks ranging from light grey to black and then blended some Tim Holtz black soot around the edges and lightly in the middle. In an effort to highlight the hexagon images, I used my Sakura clear gel pen to add some shine. After disecting the SimonSaysStamp die I mounted the happy and added a sentiment strip and a few sequins.

The second image of the Create in Quads background includes the rest of the disected die sentiment from the first card, sentiment word strip, Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame 3 Cuting plate.

Next up is the third background, SSS painted hugs die cut on fun foam mounted on a vellum circle, Gina K Designs sunshine stencil with ink left on my brush, Spellbinders Hemstitch frame and a few black stars sequins.

And finally, the last hexagon background was the base for my Picket Fence Studio Lavender Frame coverplate die. I can see myself using this die over and over. The create in quads stencils are fun to use and you receive 4 different backgrounds.

Sorry for the long post today but I when you make one basic black card I might as well make four. Above is the Colorful Options mood board for this month’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and stay safe.
Great creations especially for this challenge. Love the last one with the silhouette and off centered piece.
THanks, Bonnie, that die is really nice, isn’t it. I think I will get my monies worth out of it.
Gayle, these are all awesome! I especially like the last one, but I also really like them all.
THanks, Gerry, I really like the last one too. That die will be used often I believe.
So fun to create four cards at one time! All look great. I have the hexagon mask stencil from them. I have yet to use it.
It really is fun to be able to create 4 different backtgrounds using quad stencils. I enjoy working with them.
Love all four of the cards! And always nice to be able to create more than one card at a time!
Thanks, Diana, it’s really easy to create these quad stencil backgrounds.
WOW! WOW! WOW! Honestly, I can’t pick a favorite; I love them all. What a fun take on the challenge this month. Layered hexes never even occurred to me. 😊 Thank you for supporting our challenge this month, Colorful Options. Good Luck! Cheers, Makira
PS. You really have 4 separate entries for the challenge. Do you mind if I add the other 3? Makira
Thanks for another fun challenge. I share a blog with other users and if there is no limit on the number of entries that can be added to a challenge you can add the other cards. I just don’t want to add my entries and not leave space for another of the others othe the Stamp Buddies blog to add entries. Great challenge.
Beautiful cards! Love the layered hexagon images on all of them Each design is so unique. Thanks for joining the Colorful Options January Challenge.
Thanks so much for stopping in. It’s always fun to play along with the Colorful Options challenges.
Great cards. You really get a lot of bang for your buck with those quads. That coverplate die is beautiful and I can see it will get a lot of use.
Thanks Judy.
That is a very cool stencil set, and you came up with great ways to use them on your cards. So much variety in your designs! Well done!!
Thanks, Lisa.
Amazing results with the stencils. Love them all although I think my favourite is the one with the embossed rays and then hexagons over that.
Thanks, Johanna, I was glad that I added the rays as it looked more complete. I really enjoy working with these stencils.
All of these are wonderful cards! What a great way to use the backgrounds you created and those are wonderful in and of themselves.
Thanks, Golda, I enjoy working with those quad stencils.
