Blue Light

Double D Challenges

Today’s card will be entered in the the Lighthouse challenge with the Double D Challenges group. My striped background was inked using Sugar Pea’s Skinny Stripes Stencil and masking off and alternating Gina K Designs Powder Blue and Kraft ink. After stamping and fussy cutting my Gina K Designs By the Sea lighthouse, a Spellbinder’s classic oval was die cut and I sponged some “water” and “light” from my lighthouse and of course the gulls that are required for all nautical scenes. I found some leather like ribbon from my stash but without a sentiment I needed something else so I went on a search of my stamps and located GKD’s Ship to Shore stamp set for my wheel. Better, I believe. I’m hoping our other Buddies join in this challenge. I do know that Johanna already made a fabulous nautical card for this challenge.

Thanks for another fun challenge and inspiring mood board. Oooh that bottom right red lighthouse with the blue cloudy sky is fabulous. I wonder why I didn’t choose that one. LOL. Who knows.

Maybe two more days of hazy, hot and humid in Pennsylvania before temperatures give us a break. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and stay COOL.

  1. Fabulous card. The striped background turned out great – sounds like a bit of a challenge to do but worth the effort. Great job on create the light and the water.

    1. Thanks Judy, it did take some extra time to mask off those thin lines but I liked the way it turned out.

  2. Beautiful!! Your striped background really turned out great. The sponged water & light also turned out great. I agree, seagulls are required for nautical scenes.

  3. Great nautical card Gayle! The sky on the stiped one really jumps out, so I may have to carve out some time to create this week. Your comment on gulls being necessary is fun.

  4. Our weather finally broke here this morning, 70 degrees and less humidity, YAY! This is a lovely card, I adore that lighthouse image and that ship’s wheel–looks awesome! Love how you created your pretty background too! Thanks so much for playing along with us at The Double D, Lighthouse Challenge. Donna, DT Member.
