Thinking of You

I have been creating many flowers this week, but when I finally got crafty with this card, I chose other flowers.

I made my check list for this challenge. 1) flowers — I chose to use SU Bloom with Hope set. It was a hostess set, found in my Mother’s Crafting Supplies. 2.) die cut — I used the Square Rectangles dies from The Stamps of Life. 3) Ribbon — I found some red Grosgrain ribbon from my Mother’s collection. 4) patterned paper — I used Petal Passion SU DSP, also from Mom. 5) shiny — I found some gold twine in my stash. The cardstock used is SU Basic Black, SU Real Red, and Hobby Lobby Heavy Weight White. I saw this idea for this gatefold card on Sharon Armstrong’s blog. I changed it a little bit to work for my completed square, but her general cutting and scoring dimensions worked.

I enjoyed creating this card. It was a nice trip down memory lane remembering Mom and all of her supplies that are still in great condition. Now I need to think of someone special to send this card to.

    1. Thank you! Each time I look through her stamps, I see something new that I had never really looked at. It is nice to have the memories.

  1. This is a beautiful card; I love the bold red with the black and white. Nice gatefold card design as well. Love that you are using your mom’s supplies, and that they bring up nice memories of her. It’s great that you shared this hobby. I received some of my aunt’s tools when she passed away a few years ago, and I think of her whenever I use them!

    1. Thanks! Mom was mostly SU product and I probably have 3/4 of her stamp room, or it is in my house. When I need patterned paper, I knew immediately to look in the product that came from Mom. And the ribbon is a never ending supply!

  2. Beautiful and I’m sure your mom would be thrilled that you are creating with her supplies. The gatefold card is very unique and pretty.

  3. That bold red over the black/white gate fold is wonderful and the result is quite stunning visually. Glad you get some memories when you create as it becomes quite special.

  4. Great card and color combo. How special that you inherited so many of your mom’s stamps. I know she’s smiling down on you when you use them.

    1. Thank you! It is not just stamps, but ink, paper, dies, markers, glue and the list goes on. She had the entire store in her room.

  5. Lisa that hostess set is one of my old favourites so its lovely to see it on your card. I love the contrast between the bright red and your black and white papers and the ribbon adds a nice touch of luxury. Thanks for sharing with us over at As You See It this week!

    1. Thank you! I keep finding treasures in my mother’s stamps. This set will definitely see use again as it is a lovely set.

  6. No better way of remembering your mom than stamping with her supplies! It gave me a warm feeling just reading about it! I love your combination of black and white and red with some gold bling! Thanks for joining us at As You See It Challenges! Stay well!

  7. What a beautiful creation, and so sweet that you were able to use some of your mom’s crafty goodness! You must have inherited her talent as well. The red and black is such a striking color combo, too, one of my favorites! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at AYSI this week!

    1. Mom and my sisters all stamp. We did a card swap several years ago and it was fun. Thanks for the comment!
