I’m really enjoying my Simon Says Stamp layered tulips stencil. So today’s card is for the Just Us Girls #529 Photo Week inspiration of:

I inked my layered tulips with Distress Ink Scattered Straw and the stems and leaves with GKD Key Lime and Fresh Asparagus, then added some sparkle with my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss pen made by cloud background with my go to cloud stencil by our Buddy Bonnie and stamped the little dragonflies from GKD’s Spring Blessing set.
I do believe I could use a better “yellow” ink pad and am open for helpful suggestions. Thanks for looking.
Beautiful tulips! I love my Lawn Fawn yellow pads in all three colors. GKD Lemon Drop = LF Lemonade, GKD Wild Dandelion = LF Sunflower, and there is another LF color of Butter, which is lighter than Lemon Drop. Those colors work wonderfully for layering yellow flowers.
Thanks, Lisa, for the suggestions on the yellow inks. Since so many stamps are now layered I will need to invest in stamp colors that will layer nicely together.
Oh you did the tulips justice. But if you have color burst, put a small amount on a stamp block add a small spritz of water then use your makeup sponge to apply.
Thanks, Bonnie and for the tip on colorburst. Sounds interesting. I’ll have to try it with the colors I have on hand.
Beautiful. You are really enjoying that stencil and I’m getting so tempted to order it. Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide is a nice yellow.
Thanks so much Judy. I’m going to put the squeezed lemonade distress oxide on my list. Appreciate the advice.
Beautiful!
Thanks, Diana, hope you are feeling better each and every day.
Gayle, these are beautiful! Yellows are never my favorite, but I tend to like the brighter yellows, when I do use them. Lisa’s suggestions are great. Not that I’ve used the Lawn Fawn ones, but the GK ones.
Thanks Golda. I thought I had more in yellow too but I think at one point I stopped buying the different ink colors when the focus was on coloring.
This reminds me of a wonderful garden in Holland called the Keukenhof. That stencil is lovely and you have used it beautifully here. I like scattered straw and squeezed lemonade myself, but your colours look fine with what you have used.
Thanks so much, Johanna, I appreciate your input. I was just looking for a little brighter color and I appreciate everyone’s advice.
You are really intriguing us to buy that stencil with this gorgeous card! The sky and dragonflies look great too! So happy you were inspired to join us this week at Just Us Girls!
Isn’t this stencil fun? I used it on my card as well. Very pretty card! Thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!
