I am generally drawn to clean and simple or several layers in traditional colors. For this week’s Double D Challenge, I created a traditional layered card. I am often drawn to pine needles and cones, berries, and a bit of sparkle is always nice.

The stamp set used is The Stamps of Life pinecones2stamp along with matching dies. I used colors from this week’s color challenge at Split Coast Stampers, Early Expresso, Mossy Meadow, and Real Red, all SU colors. While pulling cardstock out, I totally forgot it should be Real Red, which is a bright red like the berries and the ribbon, but pulled out Cherry Cobbler a bit of a darker red. As everything was quite glued down and dry, I decided to let it go and leave well enough alone.
The idea for this card came from the postcard that comes with the set when a club member. I love these postcards and pull them our for inspiration. This time, I basically CASED a card on the postcard. I am sure I used different colors, placed more pine or less pine needles, etc., but basically it is a pretty close match. I am thankful for the designers who create beautiful work to share with all of us for inspiration and to create their idea.
You are so right about a bit of sparkle. WOW on the layout and placement of elements.
Thank you! I added the glitter pen, but it really doesn’t show well in the photo.
This is gorgeous Lisa. I find a bit of sparkle always adds something to a card. Love the design of this and that bow is stunning.
Thanks! The ribbon was in Mom’s stash. We have a ribbon store it seems and this was perfect for the card.
Beautiful card! Love the ribbon!
Thanks, Diana. I keep going back to the large stash of ribbon and keep finding ones that work well. This was so easy to tie and as I just told someone else, I am bow challenged.
WOW!! this is beautiful Lisa. Love that gorgeous bow and you’re right, a touch of sparkle adds so much. I like the look of the Cherry Cobbler instead of Real Red.
Thanks, Gerry. I am slowly getting to know SU colors, but have always known Cherry Cobbler as it is a close match for GKD Cherry Red. That ribbon looked perfect and was easy to tie.
Seriously gorgeous card with your pine cones, sparkle and fab bow.
Thanks! The ribbon was very easy to tie and I am bow challenged.
Beautiful festive card. I always like a bit of sparkle on cards. The sheer red ribbon is lovely – awesome bow.
Thanks! I think this is called Organdy and was in the large amount of ribbon from Mom.
WOW this is fabulous and love how you have displayed your Christmas style for our YOUR CHRISTMAS STYLE challenge. Thanks for your entry and good luck in the draw @ DOUBLE D
