Bold Birthday

I created a card this week for someone turning a large number. She likes large cards with bright colors. This card has been mailed and it meets the Double D Challenge for birthday cards.

I used Hobby Lobby papers for this card, except for the white, which is SU. The greeting came from a Paper Pumpkin kit, several years ago. The dies used are Sizzix 5 X 7 Flip-It Framelits designed by Stephanie Bernard.

I enjoy using the Flip-it dies as each card is different. I used twine from my stash.

Thanks for sharing in my card. Our weather has turned back to January cold. I will continue to be creating in my craft room and staying inside.

Fruit Wreath

I was inspired to create today, so this is my second card. This card will be entered in three challenges.

The Double Trouble challenge is to use a die cut or punch and then you meet Thing 2’s challenge to add woodgrain. They are collaborating with Use Your Stuff which is about woodgrain. Power Poppy challenge is to use fruit or vegetables on your card.

I used the Sizzix/Tim Holtz 3-D Lumber embossing folder on my background. I used a natural colored cardstock from My Favorite Things for the embossing then inked it with Gina K Designs Warm Cocoa ink. I decided a wreath would be a good addition for the die cutting. These dies are from Stampin’Up, called Arrange a Wreath. I placed my fruit image in the middle of the wreath for the Power Poppy challenge. My image is from the set called Feeling Fall. I colored it with alcohol markers a week ago and then left it sit till I was inspired to use it. The greeting came from Gina K Designs Star Flower, which I inked with Slate ink.

I really like how this card turned out. I enjoyed piecing so many products together, which is something I struggle with.

Birthday On Point

I created a slimline card on Saturday.

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/07/just-us-girls-challenge-544-trend-week.html

Stamp set used are Sizzix Free Hugs — Cactus Set and dies, and Lawn Fawn Year Ten. I used two stencils from SU, Brick and Clouds, all ink blended. The inspiration for this layout was from the Lawn Fawn blog using cactus from the new Simply Summer stamp set. I own a few cactus sets, so the Sizzix one was the one I chose to use for this card. This card was posted at Split Coast Stampers as part of the inspiration challenge and MISTI challenge: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2995060?&cat=500&ppuser=301308

Slimline cards are the newest trend I have seen in the paper crafting world, with dies from many manufacturers. This card was all cut using my paper trimmer. So far, that is working for me. This is the second one I have made with in the last week.

Tropical Hello

I pulled out the tropical stamps, dies, and embossing folder and created the following card for the Mod Squad Challenge.

https://modsquadchallenge.com/watercolor-stamping/

I used the following: GKD Tropical Blooms, Made with Love, Wreath Builder Template, a Sizzix Leaves EF, and the Hello from a SU Paper Pumpkin kit. The colors I stamped with are SU Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow. These colors are from this week’s color challenge on Split Coast Stampers. The pearls are SU, but I have no idea what color exactly, but they matched. I spritzed the color after marking on each flower or leaf with perfect pearls water; I had mixed it quite a while ago and it brings a lovely shine to the watercolor.

It has been a while since I have participated in a Mod Squad Challenge. It was fun to try something new as I do not remember coloring on clear stamps, or it has been a long time.

Retro Rubber Challenge #121

I have a card made with older supplies for the Retro Rubber Challenge.

https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2019/10/challenge-121-tic-tac-toe.html

I used Chubby Chums from Paper Smooches, which was released in 2013. I used the Sizzix Circle #2 Flip-it Die set, which I have had for at least three years. The patterned paper used is a pack from Hobby Lobby, sitting in my stash for at least 10 years. I pull it out when I need a baby card. I followed the first column on the tic-tac-toe grid: pastel colors, baby, die cut or punch.
