The 90’s!

Do you remember the 90’s? Life was busy in the 90’s. I took a trip with my childhood friend to Florida, bought my first car, got married, had children and several pets, bought a house and worked at my job. I am sure there were more things that happened in the 90’s, but those are highlights. You are wondering why I am taking a trip down memory lane…Well, I am the guest designer for the Retro Rubber Challenge and the theme is the 90’s!

https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/

You see it is a color challenge, so dig out those retro colors and give this challenge a try!

I chose Mimi going Extreme with her snowboarding. The stamp set is named Extreme Mimi. She is a wood block stamp with a date of 2012. The embossed background is from Stampin Up Scattered Sequins; it reminds me of snowflakes. I used Gina K/Thermoweb Stitched Ovals dies. To color Mimi, many waterbased markers came out of hiding: Island Indigo, Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock, Baked Brown Sugar, Ruby Red, Terracotta Tile (all retired), then I used alcohol markers for her face: Spectrum Noir FS2 with SU Light Pink Pirouette for the cheeks. The snow was colored with Copic BG70 and I outlined her with BG10. The waterbased markers were blended with a Tombow blender pen.

It was fun to bring the retro image back to life. I enjoyed finding the various colors to fit the challenge. Come join me and create a retro card!

Stacked Pumpkins Card

Another image that I stamped recently and finally colored. I used patterned paper from Gina K Designs with the fun image from Stampendous.

Recently I learned that the owner of Stampendous was moving her studio to her home. The store and factory have closed so for right now, any new stamps can be purchased from a store near you or online. This image came from someone whose Hardware store was selling all of it’s rubber stamps. The name of this set is Jack Stack. I colored it with several alcohol markers. The patterned paper is from the Grateful Heart pad from GKD. The word Boo is from Feeling Fall from Power Poppy.

This card will be entered in Make the Cards Challenge, Crafting Happiness, Four Seasons, and Double D Challenge. All are about pumpkins or Halloween.

I did enjoy coloring this image. It took me a while to settle on patterned paper, the card layout, and all of the needed pieces. I am happy with the card.

Adding this card to Two Old Bats challenge. Not sure how I missed it…I think I was trying to get the ones I remembered and just missed this one.

Thanks for sharing in my card! I did have fun and it is ready to be mailed to someone whose birthday is Halloween.

Pumpkins and Cat card

A few weeks ago, I stamped several images. Recently I colored a a fun image with stacked pumpkins and a cat.

https://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2022/10/octoberfest-challenge.html https://thefourseasonschallenge.blogspot.com/2022/10/october-anything-goes-fall-challenge.html https://craftinghappinesschallenges.blogspot.com/2022/10/135-halloween-all-month-long.html http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2022/09/the-blossom-challenge-eat-your-fruit.html

This is the Feeling Fall image from Power Poppy. I colored it with alcohol markers and cut it out with ovals from Gina K Designs. The card base is Coral Reef from GKD with a layer of Turquoise Sea, and a strip of Slate. The pumpkins on the Turquoise Sea layer are from GKD Autumn Wreath Builder also the smaller ones are from SU Halloween Scares. The cat images and the splatter on the Slate strip are from the same SU set.

The Power Poppy challenge is to use an image with fruit or vegetables. I chose fruit as pumpkins are a fruit due to the seeds.

The Crafting Happiness challenge is all about Halloween. This image definitely fits the Halloween vibe.

The Four Seasons Challenge is to use anything about October. Pumpkins are definitely part of October.

The Double D Challenge is also anything to do with October. I saw pumpkins on the mood board.

I left the greeting off of the front as it would be too busy. I placed it inside. Thanks for sharing the time with me today to view my card.

Fruit Wreath

I was inspired to create today, so this is my second card. This card will be entered in three challenges.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2022/09/the-blossom-challenge-eat-your-fruit.html

The Double Trouble challenge is to use a die cut or punch and then you meet Thing 2’s challenge to add woodgrain. They are collaborating with Use Your Stuff which is about woodgrain. Power Poppy challenge is to use fruit or vegetables on your card.

I used the Sizzix/Tim Holtz 3-D Lumber embossing folder on my background. I used a natural colored cardstock from My Favorite Things for the embossing then inked it with Gina K Designs Warm Cocoa ink. I decided a wreath would be a good addition for the die cutting. These dies are from Stampin’Up, called Arrange a Wreath. I placed my fruit image in the middle of the wreath for the Power Poppy challenge. My image is from the set called Feeling Fall. I colored it with alcohol markers a week ago and then left it sit till I was inspired to use it. The greeting came from Gina K Designs Star Flower, which I inked with Slate ink.

I really like how this card turned out. I enjoyed piecing so many products together, which is something I struggle with.

Friend Leaves

Odd title…I think I am sorry a friend is leaving. That is not what this is about. This card is all about leaves that are falling in our yards this time of year. Our leaves have not turned color, yet, but some are falling.

I posted a card yesterday using leaves cut from backgrounds I made with the Polished Stone Technique. I had several leaves cut, so today I was inspired to continue creating with these leaves. I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the base and embossed layer. The background was embossed with the Darice Fall Leaves Swirl EF. The leaves are from the Gina K Designs Stitches Leaves stamp set with matching dies. I embossed the leaves with gold embossing powder. I chose the Hello Friend greeting from a Paper Pumpkin July 2019 kit called On My Mind. I added gold foil to the greeting and embossed layer, which I think really helped bring all of the gold together.

I enjoyed creating this card. I was wanting to continue using those leaves and this came together so easily. This card will also be added to the Double Trouble Paper Crafting use a die or punch. This card uses only dies for this challenge so I posted Thing 1’s badge.

Leaf Trio

I made a card today for a Use Your Stash challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. The theme is leaves. I see that the Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge is also leaves. I will add it to that challenge as well.

https://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com/2022/09/sos480-leaf-me-alone.html

The leaves and swirls are from a stamp set from Gina K Designs called Stitched Leaves. The cardstock I used is called Blue Lagoon, also GKD. The greeting is from a Paper Pumpkin kit. I had several sheets of backgrounds I created a few months ago using the Polished Stone technique. I stamped the leaves and cut them from two of those pieces.

I love challenges that enable me to use my stash. It has been a long time since these images have seen ink and I enjoyed creating with this set.

Halloween Window

I am in the process of creating Halloween cards for an Assisted Living Center. This card started a few months ago, then I put it away and today I took it out and finished it. I think it is a calm and nice card for someone who would enjoy a calmer Halloween.

https://twooldbatshalloweenchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/09/september-anything-halloween.html

The window is from a Stampin Up set called Happy Scenes. I colored the image with alcohol markers and added a bit of blending with brushes. I can’t remember which inks I used to blend the background, but it was either Gina K Designs or Lawn Fawn inks. The greeting was stamped with Gina K Designs ink, but can’t remember which orange color it is. The wall is patterned paper from Gina K Designs, Grateful Heart pack. I think it looks like a Dining Room. I used GKD cardstock for the base and I think it might be Prickly Pear.

This is a calm card for someone who doesn’t like cards with monsters, ghosts, or scary scenes. I enjoyed creating in and was thrilled to finally finish it.
