Magnolia Happy Birthday

I sat down today and just stamped. It is fun to do this sometimes. I did use the colors for this week’s color challenge at Split Coast Stampers: Pear Pizzazz, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral.

Magnolia Blooms

The set is from SU called Magnolia Blooms. It is not in the printed catalog, but in a catalog for new stampers or stampers new to SU. I like the price of the set, so it made my list. I am pretty sure I have used this layout before, probably saw in a video. I had a pack of the Pear Pizzazz paper that was new, from my mother. It worked well for the card base. I added the black layer to help, since I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I needed something to add for the greeting and larger flower, so I looked in a file of paper from my sister and it had Calypso Coral. I added a strip on a black layer. It needed help, so it was embossed with the stand-by, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I even decorated the inside of the card and an envelope to match.

Red, White and Blue cards

I have made two Red, White and Blue cards for a few challenges.

  1. MISTI Monday Challenge at Split Coast Stampers
  2. Mod Squad Challenge
  3. Gina K Designs July Challenge
Anchor Birthday
Hot Air Balloons

I began with the Hot Air Balloon card for the Mod Squad Challenge and the MISTI one. Both needed Red, White, and Blue and the MISTI one had to be non-patriotic. While making this, I knew it needed something else, but couldn’t figure out what. My husband said the balloons could be over the water, so out came another embossing folder. Both folders used are from SU. I enjoy using these balloons both stamped and die cut.

I created the anchor one when I realized it was a Red, White and Blue challenge and started to post the Hot Air Balloon one, then remembered that it needs to be a Gina K Stamp set to be eligible for a win, so the anchors came out.

Thanks for sharing in my fun with the Red, White and Blue cards.

Quick update on the Hot Air Balloon card — It made the top 3 winner of the Mod Squad Challenge. Here is the badge:

Another update: The anchor card won the July Misti Monday challenge. They do not have a badge.

Virtual Stamp Night — last three cards

Here is one that is supposed to show a treat. It uses Hero Arts stamps from the first online order I made.

JUL19VSNJ

This next one is a fun one. The challenge is to “glam up the gray”, so I did my best to make Henry more glamorous.

JUL19VSNM Glam up the Gray

So, Henry is the elephant from a set called Henry Says. He came from the thrift store for around $1. He is stamped on scrapbook paper that is called Textured Silver, but it looks very gray. He is even embossed using clear ink on top of the Narwhal ink from Lawn Fawn.

The last card for the challenges looks quite fun!

JUL19VSNG Rock Star Tic-Tac-Toe

The guitar is from an SU set called Country Livin’. It is an acoustic guitar and in my household, it will not be turquoise. It had to have bright colors for the row I chose, to it will remain turquoise. The row I chose to create with is: Sequins, Bright Colors, Music. I used a patterned paper from Echo Park for the backgroud; it was already cut from another project. The balloons came from a Maymay Made It set called God is on the Move; it is a car set, Love Bug. I felt the guitar needed to have balloons so it looked like a birthday present. The Happy Birthday is a Lawn Fawn freebie set.

Thanks for hanging in there with my slow posting of these cards. I enjoyed creating them as it is a great stress relief and I have surely needed that. Enjoy! 🙂

MSC Case Judy — Birthday Card

This week’s Mod Squad Challenge is to CASE Judy Woodland’s card. Here is the link: http://modsquadchallenge.com/just-in-case/

I used the Elegant Asters stamp set and dies, filler from Something Good, and the sentiment from Stippled Blossoms, all by Gina K Designs. I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, on Gina K layering white paper, colored with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. I layered with black paper from Hobby Lobby and my card base is Primrose Petals cardstock from SU, retired.

MSC CASE Birthday Card

Fun challenge. Thanks Judy.

Ice Cream and Popsicle Birthday Cards

I am in need of summer birthday cards and have a couple of new stamps. My first one is using a layout and CASE of Tina Smith, https://cardsandcoffeetime.com/2019/06/18/try-it-out-tuesday-avery-elle-sweetest/

I love watching her videos and creating with her ideas. I fell in love with the Avery Elle stamp set she used, so I followed her layout and created this card.

Sweetest Birthday

My next card uses a set by Maymay Made It called Inside Scoop. Love the sentiments included in this set.

Sherbert Day

Square cards with Roses

When Split Coast Stampers had a rose challenge for Clean and Simple Cards, I thought of the layering rose set that I have. I finally made two card with this set.

Layered Rose Birthday

The Rose set is called Layering Rose by Maymay Made It. I fell in love with it when it was released on her site. They make this stamp for a card kit from another company, but sell them on their site after the other company’s release. Anyway, I have had this for a few months, stamped several but never made them into cards.

I cut two pieces of GKD Layering Weight White cardstock in 3 3/4 inch squares. Using my MISTI, I began stamping the large rose, masked it off, then added a smaller rose on each side. I placed the buds on each side and the leaves as I saw places where they would work well.

The pink colors are all Gina K Designs: innocent pink, bubblegum pink, passionate pink. The yellow colors are Lawn Fawn: butter, lemonade, sunflower. The greens are Gina K Designs: jelly bean green, grass green. The sentiment is Gina K Designs Slate.

The sentiment is from a retired Paper Trey Ink set called Delightful Dahlias. I thought the dark gray ink worked well.

I kept the cards flat with no sequins or embellishments. Easy mailing is always a plus.

I just learned that these cards fit the Double D Challenge: http://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2019/06/rose-garden.html

I will post them there.

June cards with Split Coast Stampers

I have been playing with the challenges at Split Coast Stampers. Here are a few cards.

Featured Stamper Birthday Hoot

The above card uses Gina K Designs Birthday Hoot stamp set and matching patterned paper. The owl is colored with Spectrum Noir markers.

Sailboats

The sailboat card is for a color challenge. The colors are Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, and Lemon Lime Twist, all SU colors. I used three vendors stamps for this card: Beacon by Maymay Made It, Cloudy Skies by Simon Says Stamp, and flipflop2stamp by The Stamps of Life. For the navy color, I used Gina K Designs ink and the others are SU.

Sentimental Rose birthday

The above card is for the MISTI Monday challenge, to make a shaped card. I used the MISTI for the sentiment, the rose and leaves. I masked the rose before placing the leaves. The scallop lays flat and the circle opens.

Thanks for looking at my newest cards.

Up and Away

I have been stamping with Lift Me Up by Stampin’Up! and created several cards.

Birthday

I saw the above idea on Split Coast Stampers. It has a smaller card base so the hot air balloon could go off of the page and fit in a standard A2 envelope.

Love in the Air!

This was created with Do Stamping with Dawn, using her layout on her blog. I will keep this and send it for someone’s anniversary or save for Valentine’s Day.

One Layer with Dimension

This was placed in the Mod Squad Challenge Blog in the One Layer Card challenge. This particular view has a balloon that is popped up with foam squares. The photo on Mod Squad is all flat with no popped up images. I saw this idea on Pinterest. The inks used are mostly Lawn Fawn and one Stampin Up ink pad.

Progressive Cardmaking Day 3 Masking – Beginner

Day 3 of the Progressive Cardmaking class is all about masking. The beginner masking is quite simple, basically masking one image to keep it in the forefront.

Birthday Wishes

I used Gina K Designs Bold Blooms for the main image, masking the flower before adding the leaves. The sentiment is from a incentive set by Gina K Designs. It doesn’t have a name and cannot be purchased in her store, but came during a holiday sale. I used Rose Gold embossing powder on Versamark ink. I left the card very simple with no sequins or embellishments. This will be posted in the Altenew Academy class Student Forum.
