Sparkly Star Birthday

I made a birthday card for my brother following the alphabet challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.

Our letter is S and my brother’s name fits the challenge. The AAA Cards challenge is a Clean and Simple birthday card. This fits perfectly for that challenge. The AAA Cards challenge site has sister challenges. One of the sister challenge is a birthday challenge. I am also submitting to that challenge.

I used Sizzix dies to cut the stars out of SU Specialty Glimmer paper. The greeting is from a Park Lane stamp set and the name is from a Your Next Stamp alpha set. This is CAS as I didn’t add a lot of other things. I followed an idea I found on Pinterest which helped me place the tiny stars around the larger star.

Thanks for stopping by. I am happy to have this card ready to mail as soon as I do something on the inside.

One Layer Sympathy

I usually have a few sympathy cards in my stash, but often not a one layer one. I like having several so when I need them, I don’t have to rush and make one.

I was inspired by buddies Gayle and Johanna to create a one layer sympathy card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Vintage Garden set to produce this card. I embossed everything in clear powder over black ink, but wanted a bit of color. Out came Stampin’ Up markers to add a bit of color using Polished Pink, Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight.

Thanks for the nudge to create this card.

Christmas Puppy

Following Buddy Gayle, I had to play with the AAA challenge. I have many animal stamps, but a favorite has been Paper Smooches since I bought the first stamp from them. I am sure it was one that I used on this card. I am also playing along with the Let’s Squash It challenge of using my folder and keeping it CAS.

The stamps used are all from Paper Smooches: Chubby Chums, Chubby Chums Pals, and a greeting set. The background was embossed using a Darice EF. I added sparkle to the hat with Nuvo glitter. The nozzle clogged and when trying to unclog it with a craft pick, the nozzle came off of the bottle. My hack was to use a broken q-tip and use the cardboard to apply the glitter glue. Worked perfect!

As I am typing, I am getting chats with the grocery store. I placed the online order in last night, so they are currently shopping for our order. This is a first for placing it to pick up early in the morning. So far, so good with the questions. Thanks for spending time with me!

Sunflower

Sometimes I sit down and create a card with one idea in mind and a specific place for posting, then all sorts of challenges fit the same idea. That happened with this card.

Originally I started creating a card for the Use Your Stash challenge at Splitcoast Stampers that I participate in each month. This month’s theme is to create something that begins with S for September. I decided to use sunflowers. Then I added sunshine with the greeting and the stencil. It is one layer and is CAS, so it worked well with the AAA challenge. The stencil is perfect for the Sisterhood of Crafters challenge as well as the Hero Arts Stay Crafty challenge.

The stamp set used is Newtons Nook’s Sunflower Days. The stencil is from Fun Stampers Journey called Sunrays. I used Lawn Fawn Sunflower ink to blend over the stencil. I colored the sunflowers alcohol ink markers and masked before stenciling. I masked the greeting also.

It has been a long time since I have made a one-layer card and especially one that is Clean and Simple. It was fun to create.
